“All these wonderful types and styles of the cars…” makes our hobby and way of life so great. Think how dull and boring a car show would be with nothing but 1 kind of car in one color and style. Early on this was Henry Fords motto...you can have any color you want as long it’s black. What did early hot rodders do, modify the model T and later models and even put some other color on the car. Ol’ Henry finally came around with different styles and added color to the order sheet too! It’s wonderful in my eyes, that we all get along so well at all our events across the USA. We accept each other for who we are and what we drive and what we do. This is what the founding fathers envisioned and wanted the USA to be. We in the car community live it everyday. This independence we have, came and continues to come at a price. It is not free. Many men and women have served and our serving to earn and keep our freedom, and way of life for us. Many of these brave military members have given their life in the pursuit of our freedom. When you are enjoying the BBQ or fireworks on the 4th, remember these folks too. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

2020 is half way done... We have closed out June and the first half of 2020, and now we head into July and the 2nd half of 2020. America’s birthday is upon us. July 4th...our Independence day. Our nation is a diverse one. The diversity makes us better and stronger, as a people and a nation in my opinion. That diversity plays out with our car hobby, love of cars, trucks, motorcycles and our way of “car life” too. Hot Rods, street rods, muscle cars, originals, restored, trucks, Chevy, Ford, Chrysler, Mustang, Camaro, Challenger, pro street, clones, fat fendered, no fenders, hi-boy, lo-boy, billet, cast, steelies…it goes on and on for our hobby! This is the diversity I am talking about. All these wonderful types and styles of the cars and trucks we love go together so very well. Now everyone has there own certain likes and that’s what they are driving or building to drive one day...and that’s ok. The other part of this deal is appreciating what someone else likes, and respecting what they do and how they do it too. All the choices available to us is what

SEMA Issues Update on Annual Trade Show The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) is currently developing health and safety precautions to host the annual SEMA Show this November, according to an update issued by the organization. “We are steadfast in our belief that our members and our industry will recover more quickly from the current climate by safely coming together to share ideas and look ahead to strategize for 2021 and beyond,” said Tom Gattuso, SEMA VP of events. “In some respects, it will be one of the hardest events we have produced in the Show’s 54-year history, but it will also be among the most gratifying.” Organizers are focused on building the optimal business environment where show goers will feel safe to congregate, the statement said. Plans involve many experts across multiple industries, including healthcare, facility management, city and state leadership and event experience and design. “We are proactively calling on all our partners to pool our collective resources to establish best practices and deliver the highest levels of safety and security along with the business value SEMA is known for,” said Gattuso. “Even with the Show still months away, we are well into planning what it will look like when we all gather in Las Vegas.” Organizers are currently researching and considering the following measures at the 2020 SEMA Show: • Social density concepts like directional traffic flow and distancing measures. • Use of CDC recommended personal protective equipment like facemasks. • Reducing touch points in high traffic areas like Registration or the New Products Showcase. • Increasing frequencies of facility cleaning and adding a process for nightly sanitization. • Encouraging early registration so credentials can be mailed in advance of the Show. • Developing an efficient health query protocol as Showgoers arrive on campus. • Streamlining food service locations to create touchless and cashless transactions. SEMA will be making regular updates throughout the summer and into September, with updates posted at www.semashow.com. 6

Specialty Vehicle Engineering Debuts Limited-Edition V8 Syclone In a tribute to the first-generation GMC Syclone, Specialty Vehicle Engineering has debuted its new 2021 Limited Edition V8 supercharged Syclone with full-time all-wheel drive and a 5.3-liter V8 engine under the hood. The truckâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s 5.3-liter V8 engine delivers 750 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque and features a blueprinted L83 aluminum block; computer-balanced, race-quality rotating assembly including forged 1538MV twisted steel crankshaft; forged H-beam rods; forged aluminum pistons; modified L83 high flow cylinder heads with ARP high- strength head and main studs; our own OEM-quality centrifugal supercharger with a 33% larger 8-rib belt drive system; an upgraded high and low pressure fuel system with high-flow injectors; state-of-the-art high efficiency air-to-water intercooler system; and custom stainless steel exhaust system with high-flow cats. The truck also has full-time all-wheel drive. Based off the 2021 Canyon extended cab/short bed truck, and available in any factory color, only 50 of the trucks will be available. The optional leather seat trim package features a leather surround with a leather insert and is available in two colors to match the available factory interior colors. The leather seat trim packages are accented by red and white stitching on black seats and black and white stitching on Cocoa Dune seats, with the Syclone V8 Supercharged logo embroidered in red on the front headrests.

If you didn't make it to the Chicago area to attend the 2019 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, we have the next best thing: coverage from the show. The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals (MCACN) celebrated its 11th anniversary in 2019. MCACN fills the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. Over the years, this show has grown to be the premier indoor event in the mus38

cle-car world, and the best part is that

unrestored, and race-prepped 1969 Daytonas and 1970 Superbirds, and more. There were even some rare B-body convertibles too. This year there was a display of those as well with three of the four Hemi-powered Road Runners built in 1970 in attendance.

Another display that had show goers talking was the "Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race" group. These look like fully restored show cars, but unlike most of the other cars in the show, they actually get put on the track and raced hard. There was a large gathering of Shelby cars, with many rare examples present, and keeping with MCACN tradition, displays celebrated muscle cars from 50 years ago (1966), and 45 years (1971). If you're into Studebaker's, MCACN had you covered with the cream of the Studebaker crop on display and some extremely rare examples of the breed. For the Ford fans, this year the 1971 Boss 351 was celebrated

Kicking things off as soon as you set foot in the hall was a display that included a 1963 Chrysler Turbine car, along with what is believed to be the only known Chrysler Turbine engine display. As with previous years, the show has themes, such as barn finds, Mustangs, and more. This year's notable categories included the Factory Sunroof Invitational, which had a strong Mopar representation. MCACN i2019 celebrated the "Class of 1969." Parked in their own display area, some of the finest examples of 1969 Road Runners and 440 Six Pack Super Bees. That theme also included a group 440 'Cudas and Darts. Also on hand was a selection of winged cars in the "Aero Warriors 50th Anniversary" display. With the help of the Wellborn Muscle Car Museum. This elite group of restored, 39

with a class of its own. While known as a mecca for factory muscle cars, for the first time in the show's history a class was established for non-factory cars. However, if you fancy unrestored muscle cars the Pure Stock cars were represented in force. November 20-21 is when MCACN will be taking place this year. If you are a Muscle car or Corvette lover or fanatic, this is the place you need to be!

The Holiday Inn shares a huge parking lot with the Staybridge hotel which works out great for registration and those “parking lot partys” in the evenings. Registration starts on Thursday, (12:00 to 6:00 PM). Friday registration will be from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm and Saturday registration hours will be from 9:00 am till 2:00 pm at which time registration will close for the event.
