For me it’s trains….any kind of trains. I am the guy who doesn't mind being stuck at a railroad crossing when the railroad crossing gates go down. I see people pull up and turn around when they go down. I slow down if I hear that train whistle so I can be first up at the crossing gate so I can get a great view as the train rolls by.

If you’re reading this magazine, then cool cars and trucks area big part of your life...

I believe that for the majority of you reading our magazine, my statement up above is true for you.

Even if you don’t have a cool ride of your own, but love them...they still are part of your life.

I have been to some train museums in my travels and road some excursion trains too. There are more I want to ride and see.

For those of us with cars, trucks, hot rods or whatever you jump into and drive besides your daily driver, we eat, sleep , day dream and more about these vehicles.

The other thing that goes along with trains is model railroading. Love it!! I have more than a few pieces of HO scale train stuff and maybe one day I will break it out and start messing around with it. Just got stop messing with the hot rods long enough...LOL

Even thought these things of steel rubber chrome and paint consume us, one thing I have found to be true, based on talking to so many of you at different events and on social media, is you have another hobby that you like to do too. Sometimes we don’t want to admit it, but we do other things than just “cars”. I will be the first to admit it.

SVE 2021 Chevrolet Yenko SC Silverado The SVE 2021 Chevrolet Yenko SC Silverado improves a winning formula. Designed to do burnouts and regular workaday pickup stuff!!

Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) isn't finished with special edition pickups this year, after revealing the GMC Canyon-based SVE Syclone. The Toms River, New Jersey, engineers who trade in high horsepower and the classic Yenko name have combined the two for the 2021 Chevrolet Yenko/SC Silverado. Hot-rodded pickup lovers will remember SVE released a Yenko/SC Silverado from 2018, limited to 25 examples. Two years ago, the truck could only be had in single-cab short-bed Z71 4x4 trim, powered by a GM LT1 6.2-liter V8 bored out to 6.8 liters, cranked up to 800 horsepower and 750 pound-feet of torque with the help of a roots-style supercharger. SVE hasn't strayed far from that template, DuPont Registry reporting SVE put in a year's worth of development on a new model targeting a wider lifestyle usability. This time, the base truck starts with the Custom trim and can be double-cab or base-cab, two- or four-wheel drive. To make life a skosh easier for the transmission, the LT1 V8 holds steady at 6.2 liters, keeping a supercharged 800 horses but toning torque down to 720 lb-ft.

Muscle Cars & Trucks reveals that the LT1 has been given a royal makeover, with CNCported heads and hardened components like the forged 1538MV twisted steel crankshaft pushing H-beam connecting rods and forged aluminum pistons. A centrifugal supercharger with planetary gears blows through a water-to-air intercooler, a high-pressure LT4 fuel pump keeps the cylinders misted with gas through improved fuel injectors. SVE's in-house stainless steel long-tube headers run to an X-pipe, through high-flow catalytic converters to a quad exhaust. Instead of the 10-speed transmission Chevy pairs with the 6.2-liter, SVE bolts on a heavy-duty six-speed automatic with stouter clutch packs and an SVE torque converter.

After that, the 2021 Yenko/SC Silverado picks up the same finery as the 2018 version. The suspension's lowered two inches in front, five inches in back, the thicker front sway bar and progressive springs helping control roll. Six-piston Brembo calipers clamp 16.1-inch rotors in front. The 22-inch wheels machined from aircraft-grade aluminum save 14 pounds per wheel compared to Chevy's 22-inch wheels. The rims can be had in silver, satin black, or satin black with red accents, and wear 305/45 tires at all corners. For looks, there's a custom scooped hood, stripes in nine colors, and Yenko badging. The 2018 truck offered houndstooth inserts for the seats. No mention of that this time, but SVE will probably lend an ear to generous wallets.

Nor is there any mention of price. In 2018, SVE charged $46,995 to do its work on that year's Yenko Silverado. Which means no one should expect to leave the dealer for less than $90,000 once the story's told, and quite a few owners will likely cross the six-figure mark.

Not that there will be that many owners, because SVE is only making 50 of the 2021 Yenko S/C Silverados. As with the Syclone, they can be ordered and repaired at any Chevy dealer, and come with a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty.

Ken Miles' 1965 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R sells for $3.85 million Yes, the 'Ford v. Ferrari' Ken Miles The prototype 1965 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R, famed for being raced by Ken Miles, sold Friday at Mecum's 33rd Original Spring Classic in Indianapolis for $3.85 million, making it the highest selling Mustang of all time.

It's a 1965 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R, and it was raced by Ken Miles, the very person highlighted in last year's "Ford v. Ferrari" film.

The car has the code 5R002, and it has even more claims to fame besides being Miles' race car. According to Mecum, it was the very first Shelby GT350R ever entered in a race, and Miles was at the wheel. He and the Mustang won that race, and the car was caught on film getting fully airborne.

Mecum also points out that this was a development car used to sort out the setup for future GT350 race cars, and other drivers of the '60s had a hand in test driving and developing it, including Bob Bondurant and Peter Brock.

Mecum didn't go into detail about the condition of the car, but it appears to be pretty much as it was when it was competing. For anyone unfamiliar, the '65 GT350R had a 289-cubicinch V8 making 306 horsepower and 329 pound-feet backed by a four-speed manual transmission. It came to the auction from a Shelby collector who has other significant cars going to auction, including the first production 1966 GT350R. Mecum was expecting the Miles GT350R to be sold for a large sum of money, well into seven-figure territory. In its press release, Mecum highlights a 1967 Shelby Super Snake that sold for $2.2 million, and the Bullitt Mustang that went for $3.74 million. According to Hagerty's valuation guide, a concours-quality 1965 GT350R can sell for just over $1 million. That's a bit shy of those other high-dollar Mustangs, but this being such a historic example, and coming up for sale not long after the success of "Ford v. Ferrari,".

If that's too high for you, you might want to consider a reproduction from Original Venice Crew, a company founded by Jim Marietta, who helped build this race car. The reproduction model is available with independent suspension like early prototype versions of the GT350R had, or with a live axle like the final car. Plus it's available for a comparably affordable $250,000.

One of the great areas of the Grand National Roadster Show is the one known as “SUEDE & CHROME”.

For those not familiar with what the SUEDE & CHROME moniker refers to, it’s about primer or patina paint and shine from chrome parts versus billet aluminum.

The SUEDE & CHROME building is more about Traditional Hot Rods versus dull paint or patina paint. Yes there are many cool hot rods and customs with non-shiny paint on display, but there are also many fine hot rods and customs with killer shiny paint on them. All our welcome in the building as long as they are “traditional style” builds or survivor hot rods and customs.

All weekend long the building is packed with gearheads and hot rodders digging the traditional hot rods and customs on display. It doesn't hurt that great rockabilly music is being played from the live bands on stage during the weekend or in-between bands the music being played gets you in the hot rod mood!

The Suede and Chrome building is filled with all kinds of vendors catering to the traditional hot rod crowd too.

Parts for your hot rod or custom, something for your home to give it the look and feel of a traditional hot rod lifestyle and of course REAL Pendleton Wool shirts in every size and color you ever imagined.

The fun spills outside the building, as those rides who didn't get to be part of the inside display all weekend, show up on Saturday in big number as part of the GRAD DADDY Drive In and park all around the “Quonset Hut” and join in the fun.

If you have been to GNRS you know what we are talking about. If you have never been, make plans to attend the 2021 version. We guarantee you will have a rockin’ great time!
