Kentucky have changed and tightened up the regulations and requirements for the city and state respectively around the COVID-19 issue. They are doing what they feel is right to protect people. Again I am not buying or selling here, just talking to what is in fact happening.

As a I sit here at the keyboard and a blank page in front of me in this weeks issue, the 51st NSRA Street Rod Nationals are getting to kick off for 2020.

Many hot rodders have tossed it around and over in their decision making process, as to whether they are going to attend this years Nationals. If you go… ENJOY and be SAFE. If you chose to stay home...that’s ok too. Enjoy the show from the FACEBOOK posts people put up.

With all that is going on in the USA as it relates to COVID-19, that this event is going to take place, has been the subject of many a FACEBOOK post and discussion amongst gearheads across the USA. It will be interesting to see and hear how the event goes.

No matter what you do, respect the other persons decision. They made it for a reason important to them No reason to throw zingers or get nasty about it...life is too short gearheads...

I will say this up front, I hope this is a successful event for the NSRA. They are “putting it out there” as they say, getting to hold an event this size, in the times we are in.

GM Just Introduced a New 350 Small-Block V-8 Crate Engine General Motors announced on July 31, 2020 the release of a new 350 cubic-inch small-block V-8 crate engine, meant for use in the company's trucks, vans, and SUVs built from 1987 to 2002. Improved with CNC machining, updated part designs, and a warranty, it's set to be the go-to replacement for anyone in need of the new power plant for their workhorse. If you're a GM fan, you'll know the 350 small block has a long and storied history within the company. The engine made its first appearance in 1967 under the hood of the Chevy Camaro, before quickly spreading to the rest of the lineup. Continually updated and modernized, 19 (!) of Chevrolet's current crate engines still use the 350 block as a base. Since 2005, GM has sold over a quarter-million 350 crate engines to customersâ&#x20AC;&#x201D;pretty wild considering the design was nearly 40 years old by that point. This updated design includes brand-new (not remanufactured or refurbished) CNC machined block castings and cylinder heads, as well as forged steel crankshafts, new valve covers, new oil pans, and new timing covers. There will be three trims available: a standard Gen 1 for trucks, vans, and SUVs built from 1987 to 1995, a Gen 1e LD for light-duty trucks from 1996 to 2002, and a Gen 1e HD for heavy-duty trucks from 1996 to 2002. Best of all, every new 350 block comes with a 3-year/100,000-mile warranty, whichever comes first. GM hasn't released pricing, but says the engines are available now through dealerships. 8

Shelby American Reveals Signature Edition Shelby GT350SE, GT500SE Shelby American has announced its first Carroll Shelby Signature Edition post-title packages for the 2020 Shelby GT500 and the 2015-2020 model year Shelby GT350, including “R” model cars. Shelby American will enhance the styling, performance and exclusivity of the two iconic American sports cars, the company says, and the Ford Shelby GT500SE will boast over 800 horsepower. Limited to only 100 per model year, each Shelby Signature Edition car will receive a Shelby CSM number and be documented in the official Shelby American Registry. The cars will also include other ownership benefits including entry into Team Shelby, a donation to the Carroll Shelby Foundation and more. A host of options, including the widebody package will also be available including a “First 15” package. “Both the Ford Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT500 are world-class sports cars with spectacular performance,” said Gary Patterson, president of Shelby American. “Our limited-edition Carroll Shelby Signature Edition packages are designed to build on their amazing capabilities to deliver an even more aggressive, refined and exclusive version of the two spectacular cars. They’re exceptionally handsome and deliver dazzling performance mile after mile, lap after lap. Plus, the Shelby GT500SE will be eligible for further upgrades by Shelby American in the future.” The 2020 Shelby GT500SE will boast an additional 40+ horsepower, fully functional dry carbon fiber hood, new wheels, tires, suspension tuning, interior, badges, stripes and more. “We integrated a new pulley and coolers so the 5.2-liter V8 churns out over 800 horsepower on 93 octane pump gas,” said Vince LaViolette, Shelby American vice president of operations and chief of R&D. “We lowered the car with more track-focused springs that match a new aggressive suspension tune. Then we cut 30 pounds off the top of the Shelby GT500SE with the ultra-light dry carbon fiber hood, which is also much stronger and lighter. An optional wide body modification is even available for the serious driver.” While the Shelby GT350 and its “R” model stablemate have been available since 2015, this is the first program for the car by Shelby American. The Shelby GT350SE package is affordable, distinctive and includes the coveted Shelby serial number.” The Carroll Shelby Signature Edition post-title packages are available through Shelby American and will be built at the Las Vegas facility. A limited number will be built by select Shelby mod shops and distributors internationally. 9

Statement from SEMA about the 2020 SEMA Show: SEMA, the Specialty Equipment Market Association, announced today that due to Covid-19 and concerns that event facilities and services will be unavailable, the SEMA Show, along with AAPEX, will not be taking place in 2020. While both event organizers and industry members have been working tirelessly to deliver an outstanding SEMA Show in November, mounting uncertainty has rendered continuing with the event inadvisable. SEMA expects the decision will bring much needed clarity to an uncertain picture and will help exhibitors, attendees and partners plan accordingly. Recent SEMA Show survey results indicated interest in a possible virtual tradeshow with related live elements. SEMA will be working with industry members to determine interest levels on specific alternatives. “The SEMA Show is committed to furthering businesses in the automotive specialty equipment market, and to providing manufacturers and buyers with the best opportunity to connect, promote new products and discover new trends,” said Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO. “We appreciate the spirit, hard work and innovation our industry puts into the SEMA Show each year. While we are disappointed circumstances prevent us from hosting the Show in November, we look forward to getting everyone together in 2021 for another outstanding event.” Full refunds for SEMA Show exhibitor booth deposits and attendee registration fees will be issued. 10

What do gearheads do prior the Grand National Roadster (GNRS) show opening it’s doors for the actual show?? Why we tour the hot rod shops and other gearhead places. We have 50 trophies (some homemade) to give away to the Top 50 rides! All vehicles are welcome and will be judged fairly. We love it all. Club Participation trophy and $100 will go to the biggest club and they of course get bragging rights until our next car show.
