“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”

“It has been a bit scary and I have been nervous…” As they say….you know when its time to go... Got some BIG News to share with all of you gearheads. Some of you know and probably most don't, that I have worked for General Motors for many years. Punched the clock everyday and on overtime too. I have published the GEARHEAD GAZZETTE for all these years at night and on weekends to get each issue out. Well all that changed on August 31st…. I finally retired from General Motors after working there for 41-1/2 years. Don’t ask me where all those years went, but they did. Long before I actually retired, but started thinking seriously about it...some folks who have retired already said to me “ you’ll know when its time to go”. Boy where they right! I will admit it has been a bit scary and I have been nervous, as this is a big change for anyone. Again many who have retired said “just wait a while...it will all pass and be good”, and I am sure it will be. Definitely looking forward to no more alarm clock at dark-thirty each

morning. So begins the next chapter in my life, the book of Jimmy B. Sitting here at the beginning of retirement, there are so many thoughts going through my mind on what I want to do. I have all these “bucket list” items I want to knock out and who knows what else I will get into also. I am now the person in charge of how much fun I do or don’t have. That’s scary...LOL In life we are only given so much time. On top of that part of our time is when we cant move as fast or as easy as we did many years ago. Guess I better step on the fun pedal and get it going. One thing that I on my to do list, is meet more of you gearheads. Time will now allow me to be at more events and different events, since I don’t have to punch in on Monday morning anymore. 6 Saturdays & 1 Sunday...this is going to be fun. Live It Fully Everyday 5

Goodguys Hosting Drive-In Theater Night Goodguys Rod & Custom Association, a producer of automotive events, has announced that it will be hosting the “Goodguys Friday Night At The Drive-In” scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, California. The event is open to Goodguys Members, who the group says are highly encouraged to attend the event in a pre-1987 hot rod, muscle car or truck, or a late model showquality vehicle. Face coverings will be mandatory for all attendees who will be permitted to walk around and check out the other hot rods throughout the evening, Goodguys says. Organizers also said that face coverings and social distancing will be required. Congregating in groups of (6) or more will not be allowed at any time. Each Participating Hot Rod Will Receive A Window Card & Goodie-Bag Upon Arrival and all participating hot rods are eligible to win a “Top 10” Award. The featured movie will be “Grease.” “We’re very excited for the opportunity to deliver such a fun and nostalgic event for our Members and look forward to providing a memorable experience for everyone. It’s going to be a lot of fun to see and say hello to some of the coolest cars and coolest people in the Bay Area hot rodding scene. We can’t wait,” said Andrew Ebel, C.O.O. of Goodguys.

SEMA Gives Details on Virtual Trade Show SEMA the Specialty Equipment Market Association, is offering an online marketplace to allow manufacturers and resellers in the specialty automotive segment to connect and conduct business, the organization announced. Scheduled for Nov. 2-6, SEMA360 was created after industry members expressed a need for a viable marketplace solution in the absence of the 2020 SEMA Show, organizers said in a statement announcing the virtual event.

“Creating a platform where the industry can gather and discover new products and trends has always been a SEMA priority,” said Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO. “SEMA360 is the ideal solution to bring the industry together, at a time when we’ve all been kept apart. The platform allows qualified buyers to interact with manufacturers, see innovative new products, check out top SEMA Show builds, and take in industry-leading educational offerings.” Show organizers gathered input from industry members who registered concerns with typical “virtual trade show” solutions, SEMA says, and aim to give resellers access to product offerings, demonstrations and manufacturer personnel with the show. “The industry made it clear there is a void to fill,” said Tom Gattuso, SEMA vice president of events. “SEMA360 addresses that need by leveraging SEMA’s exclusive buyer database to connect manufacturers with resellers.” Features of SEMA360 include: • A platform for manufacturers to showcase their new products • Interaction between manufacturers and resellers for quality business exchange • SEMA vehicle reveals • Education focused on professional development and new strategies Manufacturer applications for SEMA360 will open Sept. 3 at a SEMA-member rate of $495, and a nonmember rate of $1,495.
