Where did the summer of 2020 go... As a I write this the Labor Day Holiday has come and gone and wit it going comes the reality that summer 2020 is about over. Some will say that summer ends when Labor Day passes. I will hold out until the fall equinox kicks in on September 21st or whatever day the weather geeks designate it as for this year.

from the end of August thru October has been LOADED with gearhead events and fun. Based on the number of events we have received here in the past few weeks, things are looking up for gearhead fun across the USA. Events are being planned within the COVID19 guidelines in the town or area they will take place. Like it or not, if you want to go to an event, and we believe most of you do, attending within the COVID19 guidelines can let it happen. Case in point is the feature story we have this week on the THUNDER IN THE PARK event/ show that took place in New Jersey. They held the event, followed the guidelines and had a SUCCESFUL event! Plan it and they will come...send us your event info today so we can help make it a success…..

Based on the summer we have had or as some say, that we have not had due to the COVID-19 situation around the world and in America, I am holding on for every summer day we can get. With fall 2020 approaching at a rapid rate, an interesting trend is taking place across the USA. Car Shows and cruise-in’s are being planned at a higher rate then what we had all summer.

Sprint Car Season’s Largest Payout Up for Grabs at Champion Racing Oil National Open The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series Champion Racing Oil National Open, set for Oct. 3 at Williams Grove Speedway, will pay out $75,000 to the race winner, Champion Oil, officials from Williams Grove Speedway and the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series announced. The payout makes the National Open the highestpaying race in the history of the half-mile dirt track. The news represents a $10,000 increase over last year’s National Open prize. The crown jewel event paid $65,000 to win in 2019. The Champion Racing Oil National Open will also be the richest sprint car event in the United States this season. So far, the Capitani Classic at Iowa’s Knoxville Raceway has had the largest sprint car winner’s payout in 2020, with a $50,000 check that was claimed by Kyle Larson. The upcoming Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway, sanctioned by the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions, will award a $53,000 payday to the victor before the National Open takes center stage at Williams Grove in October. All vehicles $20 entry. For those that don’t know, I’ve been involved in promoting and participating in automotive swap meets for over 50 years nationwide. Interest for this event has been very strong and we have professional sellers, garage cleaners and buyers already committing from over 250 miles. I’ll give you newbies and complainers about the $20 per vehicle cost the plan behind this. We have no assigned spaces and over 50 acres of great level grass area to buy and sell stuff. Here’s what the $20 per vehicle will do for this event. You’re thinking: “If I’m going to spend $20 to get in this event, I might as well load up some stuff to sell too”. This will bring out the “Garage Cleaners” and as a swap meet buyer, that’s what we all want. Professional or Garage Cleaner sellers, it all makes for a good swap meet. Complainers, please stay home and not cause any traffic jams for those that understand. $20 gets you and 10 of your favorite friends in the gate if you’re all in one (school bus) vehicle. We were hoping to make our 60th Anniversary event a HUGE blowout, 3-day celebration, but in the days of COVID-19, everything is limited this year. We know its late notice, but we still wanted to have

something happening, because 60 years in business is a big deal! With the help of some of our Funny Car friends, we have been able to throw together a fun, affordable event to help us celebrate, including TWO Nitro Funny Cars and a bunch of Alcohol Nostalgia Funny Cars that want to come out and celebrate with us. Along with the FC's, we will have 4 Nostalgia classes and NETO Drag Racing Club. Both sides of the track should be open (permitted by the weather leading up to the event). What do you do when DMC Wild Weekend is cancelled do to Covid19 restrictions? Why you plan a event that is unmatched by any others during these crazy times in less than 30 days.

A call from Joe Morrison asking if I can assemble a few race cars and That he has a place for a show. My reply, “sure let's do it!” “What do we call it?” “How about Right2breathe presents “THUNDER ALLEY “powered by Racing Junk” .. the rest of it fell into place. Following the Covid-19 plan in New Jersey, we limited the number of people attending to 500 coming and going, and it worked perfectly with people supporting the guidelines. It was a picture perfect day for the event. Race cars came to the event from as far away as Georgia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York. 28

They all made the trip along with over 325 cars to help the cause. This could have not happened without the help and support of our sponsors, Dead Mans Curve & CnR car clubs helping spread the word. Everyone, race car owners and teams and custom, classic and antique car owners who attended dug deep in there pockets to help support the cause. Thanks to my pal and Funny Car & Top Fuel driver Joe Morrison for asking me to help. Thanks to Steve Bell for his artwork with signs and Art Schilling for his artistic talent. The event raised over $2000 in the 50/50 drawing and auction to make it a $10K day for Right 2 Breathe! It was a pleasure working with Rob and his team at Somerset Patriots for the awesome facility, that allowed us to put on this great event.
