“we say THANK YOU for what you have done…” Saying Goodbye to October and many of the cruisein’s across the USA… As I write this weeks column, October is just about gone with only a few days left. One of the staples in our gearhead world, are the always popular “cruise-in’s” that happen all over the USA. If there isn't one in your town, my bet is there is one down the road somewhere that you have been to. Cruise-in’s are more popular in my opinion with gearheads then car shows, both one day or multi-day events. Reason I say this is because a cruise-in tends to be far more informal, laid back and many invite you to come and go as you please or need. A lot of the cruise-in’s we see advertised each week in the GEARHEAD GAZZETTE, are held at some type of food establishment. Whether it’s the old time drive in still serving those great burgers and milk shakes, to restaurants host a cruise event too. Cool cars and eating just go together. They have since the first BIG BOY drive in or McDonalds opened a long time ago. Over the past few years...maybe more, the early morning cruise in has gained great popularity with gearheads and hot rodders. There is an appeal to go have some car fun early on a Saturday or Sunday morning and still have the rest of the

day to do what needs to be done. Heck you could do a morning cruise and go to a gearhead event on the same day and double your pleasure. This week we have a feature story on what I will call a cruise-in destination...you know what I am talking about, a place that you just want to go to and be part of because its so much fun. To ALL of the Cruise-In organizers, whether it’s a club, business or just a gearhead with a passion for fun, we say THANK YOU for what you have done all year long. ESPECAILLY this year with all the challenges to keeping people safe while still having some hot rod fun. A lot of the cruise-in’s are ending this week and weekend. Some are just taking the break they normally do for a few months, ad some just cant function in the colder weather and snow. The warmer climates will still keep going...and they are lucky for that! When you go to that cruise-in that you like, tell the organizers THANK YOU for a season of gearhead fun! We owe them that at least... Live It Fully Everyday

New All-Electric Crossover SUV Racing Series Announced An all-new fully electric crossover road-car-based motorsport series, SuperCharge, has been announced ahead of a planned launch in 2022. The series will consist of a 16-driver field driving next-generation road-car-based race cars, called SC01, with approximately 670 hp and acceleration similar to that of an F1 car. Teams will be able to adapt the standard specification car in two ways. The first is the car’s bodywork, so the public has a clear visual link between the race car on the track and the production version. The second is battery technology system development, which can in turn enhance the underlying battery performance of road-going EVs. To reflect the full electric ecosystem on public roads, the SuperCharge race car will also be designed to use roadside fast charging systems and connectors. The series is targeting a calendar of eight events with stops in the Asia-Pacific region, China, Europe, the Middle East and the U.S. Each event will feature 15 races per weekend with a maximum six-lap duration on short circuits under a mile in length featuring water gantry, jumps and more. Each SuperCharge event will be based on a knockout format which will feature a series of 15 races with a maximum of six laps. “Developed in consultation with leading global car manufacturers, SuperCharge offers an ideal platform to showcase the latest and future electric cars and battery technology (including smart energy management systems), to fast-track global uptake of electric vehicles,” series organizers said in a statement announcing the series.

It’s Car Show Time, So #goDRIVEit QA1 Plans 2021 Cruises It wasn’t that long ago when QA1 introduced the program called #goDRIVEit. The premise was to get likeminded enthusiasts to share images of them driving their hot rods. It’s been such a huge success, QA1 has developed a series of cruises that epitomize “driving it.” With that in mind, QA1 has announced plans for a series of #goDRIVEit cruises in 2021, with dates to be announced during the upcoming winter months. The 2021 cruising season will follow the same format as the overly successful 2020 set of #goDRIVEit cruises, which, according to QA1, brought more than 750 vehicles and nearly 1,500 people together for drives throughout Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin. The cruises are designed as a way for everybody, no matter their vehicle, to get out of the house and spend a fun day cruising with family, friends, and other enthusiasts. The three 2020 cruises each followed a roughly 100-mile loop, giving attendees plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, stop for photos, and just enjoy the ride at their own pace. Each was designed around back roads and avoided major highways as much as possible: The Get Out and #goDRIVEit Cruise in May took country roads through central Minnesota towards the Minnesota River Valley. The next cruise, The River Run, took place in early August and lead participants towards Red Wing before following the Mississippi River up towards the St. Croix. The final cruise, the Fall Colors Run in October, took participants through the scenic countryside of Lakeland, Hastings, and Cannon Falls. If you are interested in driving any of these routes yourself, the QA1.net/cruise page includes links to a Google Map of each route for you to follow. “We designed the routes to explore areas your GPS wouldn’t normally take you,” says Dave Kass, QA1’s marketing manager. “For 2021, we plan to create new routes with the same focus on combining long straightaways with awesome curvy roads, all while exploring the great scenery our area has to offer.” QA1 believes vehicles are meant to be driven, not parked. All years, makes, and models are welcome at the cruises, and that includes the most pristine show cars to rusted-out backyard gems. We’re told that vehicles on the 2020 cruises ran the gamut, ranging from motorcycles to muscle cars to Porsches and Teslas. One even included Street Outlaws stars Tina and David Pierce. “These cruises are the heart of what we do,” says Kass. “This is our core belief and mission: No matter what you drive, we want you to #goDRIVEit!”

We all enjoy cruise-in’s. Nothing but cool car fun, at a great location with great gearheads and plenty of cool rides….a perfect formula for sure. On a recent trip to the Northeast part of the country, while in southern Maine, we checked out the Tuesday cruise night fun at Bentleys Saloon in Arendul Maine. Actually they call it their Tuesday Night Car Show….works for us. Bentleys Saloon is just a cool place. They LIKE having fun!

Not only do they hold the Tuesday Night car deal, they have some other car events during the year, bike events and all kinds of live music during their season. If you’re not having fun at Bentleys... well there might be something wrong with you. Like the first time we stopped in to check out Bentleys Saloon. Cool cars & Bikes filled the massive parking lot. Great food (Love their wings!) and drinks at REASONABLE prices, and great LIVE music. As we’re sitting there enjoying the music…. At a table close to us, a young man of about 80 years jumps up on top of the table he is at and starts “moving to the music”! Crowd goes crazy and the women of all ages love it and stuff his jean pockets full of dollar bills! What a hoot! This gearheads is what Bentley Saloon is all about...FUN When we say “the season” at Bentleys, it’s because they do shut down for the cold months being as far north in the USA as they are. They definitely make the most of the months they are open. Since the weather didn't cooperate the week before we were there, the sun shining bright on the evening we were there brought out a great turnout of all kinds of cool rides some of 31

Bentleys Saloon is not just place to go, it’s really a destination in our opinion. If you are ever close to them, make the detour and head to Arendul Maine and have some gearhead fun with them….you’ll be glad you did.
