“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….” “to give thanks for something, someone or even more”
Happy Thanksgiving to all of our subscribers and readers…. Well its here...yep...Thanksgiving 2020. In spite of everything that was thrown at us...we have made it this far.
The other thing that I am thankful for is TIME. Time is how you spend your day. Those 24 hours are very important in so many ways. Spending time with family and friends is number one. Interaction with others makes us healthy, well at least before 2020! It will get better as we move into 2021...it will. We use time when we work on our hot rods and cool cars and trucks. We cant do it 24hrs each day, but we purposely allocate TIME to work on our pride and joy. That time is very precious because depending on how busy we are, we never spend enough time on our hobby/car/truck. We use time to rest and recharge ourselves too. If we push ourselves too hard without rest, we end up getting sick and that’s no way to spend your time. As the saying goes, time is fleeting. Make the most of your time each day. Live It Fully Everyday
Thanksgiving is a time for family and in normal circumstances there would be many gatherings of many people. This year, each family has to figure out how they will celebrate the day and long weekend, that works for them best. Many of you will take time before digging into the Thanksgiving meal, to give thanks for something, someone or even more in your life.
I too am thankful for many many things in my life. I am thankful for all of you, our readers and followers. Without knowing it, you give purpose to me and every person should have purpose in their life. If you don’t have purpose, why do you get of bed each morning...except to go the bathroom cause that’s important for everyone.
Jimmy B. 5

Hot Wheels Announces 2020 Legends Tour Winner Mattel has announced the winner of the 2020 Hot Wheels Legends Tour. The 1970 Pontiac Trans Am custom car, built by Riley Stair of Sacramento, will be inducted into the Hot Wheels Garage of Legends and will join the Hot Wheels collection as a 1:64 scale diecast. The 1970 Pontiac Trans Am is the third fan’s car to become a Hot Wheels diecast and will hit store shelves worldwide in 2021. The announcement was made during the Hot Wheels Legends Tour Finale event by Ted Wu, Vice President of Global Design for Vehicles at Mattel. The final stop was live-streamed from Jay Leno’s Garage and cohosted by Jay Leno and motorsports ambassador Jarod DeAnda. Viewers tuned into Jay Leno’s Garage YouTube Page and Hot Wheels’ Facebook Page to see the winner determined by Hot Wheels designers and car-loving celebrity judges Jay Leno, Snoop Dogg, Gabriel ‘Fluffy’ Iglesias and Brionna Lynch. Special guests including 007 driver Ben Collins, Paxton Booth and NASCAR driver Tony Stewart also participated in the event. Riley Stair’s build was chosen from thousands of cars entered in the Hot Wheels Legends Tour, which had 14 stops throughout Europe, LATAM, Asia and North America. While all finalists who competed at the global finale event embodied Hot Wheels high standards or performance and design, the winning custom build was selected for its true representation of the Hot Wheels garage spirit, the company said. Ted Wu, Vice President, Global Head of Design for Vehicles, Mattel. Said “With more vehicle entries this year than ever before, we know we found a special build that embodies the Hot Wheels challenger spirit with the 1970 Pontiac Trans Am. You see the vehicle and instantly know it is meant to be a Hot Wheels with the unique frame, engine, and purposedriven build.” The 1970 Pontiac Trans Am is a one-of-a-kind race car engineered by Riley Stair on the side of his parents’ house. Revving up to 10,000 RPM, the vehicle’s motor is entirely custom-built, and the foundation for the engine is a 400-cubic inch LS V8. “To have my car immortalized as a Hot Wheels die-cast for car lovers of all ages to enjoy means the world to me,” said Legends Tour Winner Riley Stair. “To think that my car in a 1:64 scale could make a lasting impression for a young kid who loves cars, as Hot Wheels have for so many of us, is a dream come true. I can’t wait to see my nephew Noah pushing my car around the living room.” 7

Breaking News!!! In Southern Kentucky a giant rodent has taken over the National Corvette Museum!! That’s right… you read that right! Running thru the end of December 2020, there is a FANTASTIC exhibit of Ed “BIG DADDY” Roth’s life and work. RAT FINK is one of the stars of the exhibit along with some of Ed Roth’s hand built creations. Let me hold up here...if you are reading this and don’t know who RAT FINK and Ed “BIG DADDY” Roth are, one you aren't sporting enough gray hair (or you are coloring it) and two you need to GOOGLE both of them right away. This display was in large part put together by GM Design Chief Tom Peters. It truly is a tribute to Ed “ BIG DADDY” Roth. Rat Fink is just one of several hot rod characters created by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. Roth was one of the originators 20
21
22
of Kustom Kulture of automobile enthusiasts. Roth conceived Rat Fink as an antihero to Mickey Mouse. Rat Fink is usually portrayed as either green or gray, comically grotesque and depraved-looking with bulging, bloodshot eyes, an oversized mouth with sharp, narrow teeth, and wearing red overalls with the initials "R.F." on them. He is often seen driving cars or motorcycles.
Roth began airbrushing and selling "weirdo" T-shirts at car shows and in the pages of hot rod publications such as Car Craft in the late 1950s. By the August 1959 issue of Car Craft, "weirdo shirts" had become a craze, with Ed Roth at the forefront of the movement. His T-shirt designs inspired an industry. Rat Fink was advertised for the first time in the July 1963 issue of Car Craft. The ad called it "The rage in California". Also in 1963, the Revell Model Company issued a plastic model kit of the character. The initial run of the kit was from 1963 to 1965, but the Rat Fink kit, along with Roth's other creations, has been reissued by Revell over the years. Rat Fink continues to be a popular item to this day in hot rod and Kustom Kulture circles in the form of T-shirts, key chains, wallets, toys, decals, etc. Take it from us here a the GEARHEAD GAZZETTE, take a trip to Bowling Green Kentucky to the National Corvette Museum and enjoy this exhibit. It wont be there much longer and when its gone‌.its gone! 23
