“ Ya Gotta know where to Go...The FUN Starts Here….”
“We HAVE A CHOICE to make…” In Life We Have To Make Choices For Ourselves...
the elected reps have had or have a say in those laws and whether they change or not. Bottom line, we ALL as Americans are expected to follow the laws of our country. Just because you don’t like a law or rule, doesn't mean you don’t have to follow it. Growing up if you broke one of your parents rules, you got some form of punishment (insert what you experienced)...I know I did! The GNRS team is FOLLOWING THE RULES GIVEN to them, by the governmental leaders... if they CHOOSE to hold the 2022 event. They have chosen to HOLD THE EVENT and follow the rules. KUDO’s to them for making a tough decision. Now comes our part in this deal. We HAVE A CHOICE to make. Option 1 you go to the show and do what needs to be done per the rules set up and have a whole lot of hot rod fun. Option 2 you stay home, see the show on social media pages because you don’t like the rules for the show to happen. America is about choices...make one and move on but don’t beat up other people for their choices...live with your choice and be happy...time to respect each other
Little bit of a rant coming up. Feedback invited and encouraged. I have been watching on social media the dialogue around the upcoming Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona California. Some positive but a lot negative and aimed squarely at the staff and promoters of the event. Life in the USA is great! No other country that I know of, having been to more than a few outside our country, enjoys ALL the freedoms that we do. Our forefathers set it up to be that way. They also set up our form of governing the USA. This trickled down into each state and city in all 50 states. Who we elect each election cycle, be it Federal, State, County or City elections, those are the folks who are expected to lead. Up for debate is whether the elected folks are doing what we think is right. When the next election comes up, we have the right to CHOOSE who goes into office. Enter CORONA VIRUS two years ago. In my humble opinion nobody wanted it...but for some reason it happened and it had to and has to be dealt with. If we sit by and do nothing...that’s worse then trying to make the right decisions to safely deal with it. The other thing is, our nation is one that has laws and rules to follow. Again
“Drive ’Em Don’t Hide ’Em” 7

2022 Detroit Auto Show Dates Announced Organizers for the Detroit Auto Show (also known as the North American International Auto Show, or NAIAS) have confirmed the dates for this year’s edition of General Motors’ home industry expo. This year’s Detroit Auto Show will be held from September 17th through to September 25th, while the media-only days will be held from September 14th to September 15th. The charity preview will also go ahead on September 15th The Detroit Auto Show has not been held since 2019, with the COVID-19 pandemic forcing organizers to cancel the show both last year and in 2020. While the show’s organizers held an outdoor automotive event called Motor Bella last year in nearby Pontiac, Michigan, that event was much smaller and attracted less manufacturer interest than the Detroit Auto Show typically does.
Rod Alberts, executive director of the Detroit Auto Show, said this year’s edition of the show will occur both within the Huntington Place convention center and at other indoor and outdoor event centers located across the city. He described the show as “an indoor and outdoor city-wide celebration of mobility,” that will be “unlike anything we have ever hosted before.” “We are proud to return to downtown Detroit and to work with Mayor Duggan and the city of Detroit again,” Alberts said. “Capitalizing on everything we’ve learned over the past two and a half years, we are uniquely positioned to bring a dynamic, engaging, experiential show to Detroit in 2022.” The return of the Detroit Auto Show will be welcome news for General Motors, which, along with fellow Detroit Big Three companies Ford and Stellantis, often enjoys a major presence at the show. GM has not said if it will debut new products at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, however it seems possible it will present physical iterations of its future EV models there, such as the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV or Chevy Equinox EV. 10

Eddie Motorsports Has Hot New Parts For Your ’67-’72 C10 Hauler When it comes to building a hot rod — be it a car or truck — it’s the details that make or break a cool ride. If you’re building a really cool ’67 through ’72 C10 truck, Eddie Motorsports can help you get the details spot on. For starters, check out these billet door sill plates. Eddie Motorsport’s new 1967-72 Chevy C10/C20 truck billet aluminum door sill plates are durable, great looking, and easy to install. The plates are machined from a solid piece of 6061-T6 aluminum to provide a quality built and long-lasting part. These are not thin stamped sheet metal plates. We’re also told the plates are precision machined, so you get a part that perfectly fits every time. These sill plates are designed as a direct bolt-on to update the standard stamped factory plates. Sold in pairs. Proudly engineered and machined in Southern California. The sill plates are machined from a solid piece of 6061-T6 aluminum to provide a quality built and long-lasting part. When you open your early C10’s hood, how good does it look between the fenders? One way to start adding some style to the engine bay is to include a set of billet hood hinges. These hinges are made of finely machined billet aluminum and the movements feature sealed bearings and nitrogen-filled struts for smooth operation. They are a direct bolt-on for all ’67 through ’72 c- and K-series trucks and can be used with steel or fiberglass hoods. Hinges are available in a raw, polished, or Fusioncoat finish. This hood latch assembly is machined from solid chunks of 6061-T6 aluminum and 304 stainless steel and is a direct replacement for the unappealing, stock-stamped-steel piece. The latch kit comes complete with a billet aluminum base plate and billet stainless steel pilot pin. Stainless steel fasteners and billet aluminum finishing washers are also included. Available with a raw or highly polished finish as well as in a variety of anodized or Fusioncoated colors. If you are going to be seen at night, a good set of exterior lights is a must. Since they are required, why not make them better than OE? Eddie Motorsports’ billet aluminum tail and marker light assemblies are a great upgrade for any C10. Taillight kits include a pair of billet bezels, LED taillights, backup light lenses, and a heavy-duty LED flasher. Bezels are precision CNC machined from 6061T6 aluminum and are available in seven custom finishes. The marker light and bezel kits include billet aluminum bezels, amber or red LED lights, and a heavy-duty LED flasher. The kit is sold as a pair.
The factory pot metal exterior door handles on your C10 are an item that is usually pitted and detract from your truck’s good looks. These billet door handles are machined from solid chunks of 6061-T6 aluminum, these one-piece handles are a direct replacement for the stock pot-metal parts. The recessed handles can be purchased with a brushed satin or bright polished finish as well as a variety of Fusioncoat and anodized colors (specify finish when ordering). The handles are sold in pairs and include gaskets and all of the necessary stainless-steel fasteners. Regardless of what area of your C10 you are looking to improve, Eddie Motorsports is the go-to place for all your detail-oriented needs to help make your truck or car the best it can be. 12

JAN 2022: JAN 28-30: POMONA CA: 72ND Grand National Roadster Show: The Grand National Roadster Show is now in its 72nd year. Once known as the Oakland Roadster Show, it is the longest running indoor car show in the world! Produced at the Fairplex in Pomona for the 18th consecutive year. We are thrilled for the return of the Grand National Roadster Show for 2022. This year will feature a huge number of new builds, debuts, exhibitors, and of course the AMBR and Slonaker competitions. After being forced to cancel in 2021, we are grateful to our sponsors, attendees and the community for sticking with us. As we near the show kickoff on January 28, we want to address some questions around COVID protocols at the show. Given the choice of canceling the Grand National Roadster Show or complying with local laws, we chose to return. That means complying with county rules that currently require a vaccination card or negative COVID test for event entry and masks required indoors. While not our ideal situation, we believe it is the only option given the cards dealt to us by current mandated event guidelines. Over 500 show vehicles will compete for awards inside the Fairplex buildings. Another 400-800 vehicles will join the event Saturday & Sunday for the 16th Annual Grand Daddy Drive-In. For more info go to www.rodshows.com or https://www.facebook.com/grandnationalroadstershow

Depending on what genre of automobiles you like, in that genre there is that one vehicle that becomes ICONIC over time. For hot rodders, there are a few ICONIC vehicles that just stand out. Some would say the Corvette is one,
the 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air is another. There are some more but not many that truly deserve or have earned the title ICONIC.
One vehicle that has earned the
ICONIC brand is the beloved “Deuce”. The 1932 Ford. Hot rodders and DEUCE lovers will argue that the most ICONIC ‘32 Ford is the roadster and other the ‘32 Coupe. The 1932 Ford, no matter which model you like, turns 90 years old in 2022. Going strong as ever. Rather than just updating the Model A, Ford launched a completely new vehicle for 1932. The V8 was marketed as the Model 18 in its 52
53
initial year, but was commonly known as the Ford V‑8. It had the new flathead V8 engine. The Model 18 was the first low-priced, massmarketed car to have a V8 engine, an important milestone in the American automotive industry. The 221 cu in
(3.6 L) V8 was rated at 65 hp (48 kW), but power increased significantly with improvements to the carburetor and ignition in succeeding years. The V8 was more popular than the fourcylinder, which was essentially a variant of the Model A engine with im-
provements to balancing and lubrication.
Hot rodders grabbed onto the new V8 and went racing on the dry lakes, salt flats and yes the streets too. We
have guys like Ed Iskenderian and Vic Edelbrock just to name a couple, who started making go fast parts for the new motor. Their test bed was at the dry lakes outside of Los Angeles and for a very long time their motors were 54
55
put into a roadster bodied ’32 Ford. The 1932 Ford while a little similar to the predecessor Model A, was a stand alone model for Ford. The 1933 -34 Fords were much different from the ’32. In our opinion therein lies the appeal of the beloved Deuce.
George Lucas saw the significance of the ’32 Ford Coupe and used it with another beloved hot rod, the 1955 Chevy in his classic movie...AMERICAN GRAFFITI.
We know there will be many celebrations of “THE DEUCE” this year and one of the biggest will be at the GRAND NATIONAL ROADSTER show in Pomona California later this month. It will be a featured celebration during the event. Join us in saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY to “THE DEUCE”...90 years is quite the achievement.
