A presente publicación é o resultado do traballo, ilusión e inquedanzas dun grupo de alumnos e profesores. Unha primeira edición que nace coa idea de medrar entre nós e facernos compaña durante moito tempo. Coma todo prototipo, é sempre susceptible de melloras que sen dúbida se levarán a cabo en futuras edicións. Unha revista do alumnado e para o alumnado onde todos temos cabida, por iso, esperamos a vosa futura participación, aportacións e ideas para facela medrar xuntos.

PROFILE
Our Language Assistant @ the EOI My first stop in Galicia was in Lugo where I spent two days before arriving in Viveiro. The ride from Lugo to Viveiro was filled with nice scenery and signs warning drivers of wild horses. In Pennsylvania we have to worry about deer crossing the road, but in Galicia wild horses are the problem. My first stop after driving along the seafront was Pizzbur where I had some tapas and probably taught the English teachers the expression, “If it’s free, it’s for me”. I decided to take it easy my first night in Viveiro, so I got back to my apartment around 5:00 am which is early for Spaniards. Apart from the sea, all the bars, the wild horses, and free food it was like being in Pennsylvania. After my first few days I thought that the older people here would stop staring at me with a look of bewilderment on their faces, but I was wrong. In fact, many of them still look at me as if to say, “What are you doing here?” My first encounter with a Galician senior citizen was a woman who was about 80 years old. She asked me what time it was and I mistakenly told her that it was two o’clock instead of one o’clock. As soon as I corrected myself she said, “Querías engañarme porque soy guapa”. Nowadays I have lots of friends who are senior citizens.
Within my first few weeks I realized the word leche could be used in various ways. Not only could you use it to order a café con leche, but also to say cara de mala leche, tiene muy mala leche, es la leche, cagando leches, and my favorite me cago en la leche. Its uses are endless, similar to the word get in English. Apart from that, Galicians like to use the word cagar with everything and on everything. They use it with St. Peter, the sea, the milk, ten, the moon, the fruit, etc.

PROFILE
My only real trouble with the local language came when an old sailor began to speak to me in Galician. I just assumed he was an old sailor. I just nodded my head in agreement because I didn’t understand. After three years in Galicia I still don’t understand when old sailors speak to me in Galician. When I walk to Xunqueira almost everyone speaks to me in Galician there. It’s probably because I look Galician now. It must be because of my blond eyebrows and accent. That’s retranca. I’ve learned a few things throughout the years.

CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD This article shows the way that people of different countries celebrate Christmas (meals, presents, decoration, etc). Spain The traditional Spanish Christmas Eve dinner is Turkey stuffed with truffles. In Galicia the most popular meal for Christmas Eve and for Christmas Day is seafood. This can be all kinds of different seafood, from shellfish and mollusks, for example: lobster, shrimps and small edible crabs. There is one special tradition in New Year's Eve. It’s that you eat 12 grapes with the 12 strokes of the clock at Midnight. Each grape represents a month of the coming year, so if you eat the twelve grapes, you are said to be lucky in the new year. Children have some presents on Christmas Day, but most are opened at Epiphany (January 6th). Some children believe that the Kings bring presents to them at Epiphany. They write letters to the Three Wise Men, asking for toys and presents. And on Epiphany Eve (January 5th) they leave shoes on windows or balconies or under the Christmas Tree to be filled with presents. The United Kingdom In the UK, the main Christmas Meal is usually eaten at lunchtime or early afternoon on Christmas Day. It's normally roast turkey, roast vegetables and 'all the trimmings' which means vegetables like carrots & peas, stuffing and sometimes bacon and sausages. It's often served with cranberry sauce and bread sauce. Traditionally, and before turkey was available, roast beef or goose was the main Christmas meal. Dessert is often Christmas Pudding. Mince pies and lots of chocolates are often eaten as well. Most families have a Christmas Tree in their house for Christmas. The decorating of the tree is usually a family occasion, with everyone helping. Children believe that Father Christmas or Santa Claus leaves presents in stockings or pillowcases. These are normally hung up by the fire or by the children's beds on Christmas Eve. Children write letters to Father Christmas/Santa Claus listing their requests, but sometimes instead of putting them in the post, the letters are tossed into the fireplace. The draught carries the letters up the chimney and Santa Claus reads the smoke.

CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD The USA The United States of America has many different traditions and ways that people celebrate Christmas, because of its multi-cultural nature. The traditional meal for Western European families is turkey or ham with cranberry sauce. Families from Eastern European origins prefer turkey with trimmings, keilbasi (a Polish sausage), cabbage dishes, and soups; and some Italian families prefer lasagna. People in America like to decorate the outsides of their houses with lights and sometimes even statues of Santa Claus. Some cookies and glass of milk are often left out as a snack for Santa on Christmas Eve. Towns and cities often decorate the streets with lights to celebrate Christmas. Perhaps the most famous Christmas street lights in the USA are at the Rockerfeller Center in New York where there is a huge Christmas Tree with a public ice skating rink in front of it over Christmas and the New Year. In the south of Louisiana, on Christmas Eve, families in small communities along the Mississippi River light bonfires along the levees (the high river banks) to help 'Papa Noel' (the name for Santa in French as Louisiana has a strong historical connection with France) find his way to the children's homes. Australia Most families try to be home together for Christmas and the main meal is normally eaten at lunch time. Most people now have a cold Christmas dinner, or a barbecue with seafood such as prawns and lobsters. On Christmas Eve, fish-markets are often full of people queuing to buy their fresh seafood for Christmas day. Australians often have Christmas Crackers at Christmas meal times. Australians hang wreaths on their front doors and sometimes go out Christmas carol singing on Christmas Eve. People also decorate their houses and gardens with Christmas Trees and Christmas lights. Australians also decorate their houses with bunches of 'Christmas Bush', a native Australian tree with small green leaves and cream colored flowers. When he gets to Australia, Santa Claus gives the reindeer a rest and uses kangaroos. He also changes his clothes for less 'hot' ones.

CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD Japan The traditional Japanese Christmas food is Christmas cake, but it's not a rich fruit cake, it’s usually a sponge cake decorated with strawberries and whipped cream. In Japan, Christmas in known as more of a time to spread happiness rather than a religious celebration. Christmas Eve is often celebrated more than Christmas Day. Christmas Eve is thought of as a romantic day, in which couples spend together and exchange presents. Christmas is not a national holiday in Japan, so schools and businesses are normally open on December 25th. The Japanese New Year (called 'o shogatsu') is more like a traditional Western Christmas. New year is the period where families get together, have a special meal, pray and send greetings cards. New year is celebrated over five days from December 31st to January 4th and is a very busy time.
Russia In the days of the Soviet Union, Christmas was not celebrated very much. New Year was the important time. Now Christmas is normally celebrated on January 7th (only a few Catholics might celebrate it on the 25th December). Some people fast (don't eat anything) on Christmas Eve, until the first star has appeared in the sky. People then eat 'sochivo' or 'kutia' a porridge made from wheat or rice served with honey, poppy seeds, fruit (especially berries and dried fruit like raisins), chopped walnuts or sometimes even fruit jellies. Some Orthodox Christian Russian also don't eat any meat or fish during the Christmas Eve feast. Other popular Christmas Eve foods include beetroot soup (borsch) or vegan potluck (solyanka) served with individual vegetable pies (often made with cabbage, potato, or mushroom); salads often made from vegetables like gherkins, mushrooms or tomatoes, and also potato or other root vegetable salads. Sauerkraut is main dish in the Christmas Eve meal. It can be served with cranberries, cumin, shredded carrot and onion rings. It might be followed by more pies or porridge dishes such as buckwheat with fried onions and fried mushrooms. The New Year celebrations are still very important to Russians. This is when 'Grandfather Frost' (known in Russian as 'Ded Moroz') brings presents to children. He is always accompanied by his Grandaughter (Snegurochka). On New Year's Eve children hold hands, make a circle around the Christmas tree and call for Snegurochka or Ded Moroz. When they appear the star and other lights on the Christmas tree light up Ded Moroz carries a big magic staff.

Brazil Brazil’s population is a mix of many different cultures and people that originally came from different countries, so you may have Italian Panettone in São Paulo, Portuguese salted cod in Rio de Janeiro and some African style food in the states of North-East Brazil. Favourite Christmas foods in Brazil include pork, turkey, ham, salads and fresh and dried fruits. Everything is served with rice cooked with raisins. Popular Christmas desserts include tropical fruits and ice cream. Many people like to go to the beach because it's summer and very hot at Christmas time in Brazil. Many Brazilian Christmas traditions come from Portugal as Portugal ruled Brazil for many years. Nativity Scenes, known as Presépio are very popular. They are set-up in churches and homes all through December. Kenya In Kenya, popular Christmas foods include a barbecue which can be a goat, sheep, beef or chicken. This is eaten with rice and chapati flat bread. The big Christmas meal is called 'nyama choma'. People often make their own beer to drink and different tribes also have special dishes they make. Houses and churches are often decorated with colorful balloons, ribbons, paper decorations, flowers and green leaves. For a Christmas Tree, some people will have a Cyprus tree. Usually, all family help with the Christmas preparations. Santa doesn't arrive with his Reindeer but might well come by land-rover, camel or even a bike. Only small gifts are usually given to children and sometimes food and gifts are provided by missionary organizations.

Can you believe it? - Last month we were in Paradise. We had a lovely time, we wish we had more money to spend more time on holidays. David spoke very excitedly and happily while he told his mother how well he felt. David and his boyfriend had been on holidays several days. He was very much in love with his boyfriend and they had just got engaged. He felt pretty loved too. Nobody had treated David so nicely before, because he was just a gay guy and if you live in a small town, almost nobody understands your feelings. David had become “the Buffon” for the other children. They laughed, mocked and ignored his existence and there is nothing more cruel. But, nowadays, his life was completely different. - We did a lot of photos, the next time I want you to join us. And he kept talking while his mother looked lovingly at her son. She was impressed, he had changed so much. David was in love with a boy, she really didn´t understand it, but her son would never be alone again. “It was also fashionable to have a guy friend”, nowadays it is said, what a ridiculous idea!, she thought. While They were listening to a romantic song, the noise from the kitchen could be listened and they kept speaking and laughing....

LOST IN… New York City
New York. Better than sex- the first time you drive into Manhattan on the George Washington Bridge and slowly approach the dense skyscrapers rising from the horizon… Welcome to New York City. Over the years, the place has magnetically drawn in those intent on making it big, from artists and intellectuals to supermodels and self-proclaimed masters of the universe. The city has had its fair share of ups and downs- but it’s always managed to get back on its feet. New York is not just the City anymore- it’s extended itself to the outer boroughs. But does Williamsburg, the capital of beards, fixie bikes and craft beer, really represent the city’s identity? And where is Manhattan alive and kicking today? An endless, surprising, infinite, multicolored, photogenic, cosmopolitan city ... One of the largest cities in the world to which everyone can apply their own qualification. And that hides many data and curious stories. Some of the curiosities about New York: Bridges. It is said that there are more than two thousand bridges in New York. . They connect the 5 districts of New York turning the city into the great metropolis that is today.

LOST IN… New York City The 3 bridges over the East River link Manhattan with Brooklyn are the best known. We will always see them from much of Downtown and Midtown Manhattan. To remember their order there is a simple mnemonic technique: the acronym BMW indicates their order from south to north: Brooklyn,
Manhattan and Wi-
lliamsburg. The Brooklyn Bridge, in 1883, was the first suspended by steel cables. It measures 1825 meters in length, being for 20 years the longest suspension bridge on the planet. From “Gol” to Burela It wasn’t “Mama”, neither “Papa”, but “gol”. It was my first word when I was almost 8 months old. I didn’t know how to walk yet but I did know how to shoot leaned on one of the table’s leg. It seemed obvious I always wanted to play football and this passion was the same 3 years later, so my parents decided that practising futsal after classes would be a great way to enjoy myself and they were right. Although I wanted to be a field’s player, the coach made me play as a goalkeeper, a position which I hated at first, but when I was eight I understood that I had to decide between becoming a professional goalkeeper or an amateur field’s player. I took the first option and two years later, the coach of the second most important team in Cataluña called me to join his team, Marfil Santa Coloma.

When I was 16 I went on playing football, which demanded me so many hours that I spent more time playing than studying at home. However, I had passed secondary school without problems because attending classes and being focused on lessons was enough for me to pass all the exams with great marks. Then High School arrived and most of the teachers told me it would be really difficult and I wouldn’t pass the year if I didn’t stop playing football. Instead of giving up my passion, I tried to manage both and by 2011, I’d finished studies with my best marks ever and I’d been called from the Catalonian autonomous team in order to play the Spanish Championship. Two years later, after finishing my first degree year in Chemical Engineering at University, I was really satisfied with myself because I could pass all the subjects while playing futsal at the level as high as I could at 19. At that moment, I thought I couldn’t be prouder of myself but then a new chance appeared to make my footballer career better: the chance of signing for the second team of FC Barcelona, which also meant that I was going to earn money for practising my hobby. I was playing in this team for 4 years and the beginning was more difficult than I expected as I didn’t play as much as I had thought. The second year I became an important player for the team and I played lots of games, but my best moment there started the next season, when I was chosen as captain by both the coach and teammates. That decision gave me a lot of confidence and I did two outstanding seasons, in which we were the team that received fewer goals. I suppose that those two great years were the reason why I fulfilled the dream I had since I was a child, I’m talking about signing for a team that plays in the best league in Spain. This is how I arrived in Burela and I guess it’s really soon to be able to describe how my experience here is yet, but I could say it seems to be a great club in a beautiful city, so I believe I will have, at least, a wonderful year. In addition, I have recently finished my degree, so it is possible to be a great student and a sportsman at the same time. Joan Miñano That’s English Module 9

COLABORACIÓNS DO ALUMNADO My first deep experience As many of you, before I started in this school, I used to listen to English songs and judge them just for the melody, the instrumental or even the skills of the singer, but not for the lyrics. After a few months I had started to show some interest and rapidly became a good friend of the dictionary. However, at the same time I found out that not every nice melody carries with it worthy lyrics… But I am a profound lover of
music and I enjoy digging into it, so I kept searching until this song came out. I had listened to it several times, but in a superficial way, misjudging absolutely the huge potential of its words. The first time I knew its meaning and listened to it properly I realised it was a fucking diamond. Because of its feeling, because of its truth, and over all, because it was the first song sung in English which I felt identified
with. It was an enormous disclosure which brought attached a thorough research in that moment of my life. Nowadays, I listen to it sometimes, not thirteen or fourteen times a day like I used to, but it still captivates me like the first day did. When the melody starts to sound I really wake up and see the world as it always had to be seen, at that precise moment I realise this life actually is a bitter sweet symphony.

Scary Short Story It was November the 16th, and was a really cold morning. I had a shower, had a fast breakfast, and when I was about to leave the house I heard some noises. They were coming from the basement, and sounded like something was tapping the ceiling. I thought that maybe some pipes had broken, so Idecided to check it out in order to prevent any flood. When I opened the basement door, and tried to turn the light on, it didn´t work. “Great, water has destroyed the circuits” was my first thought. And those stupid noises kept coming from the basement darkness. I took, a bit annoyed, my mobile phone from my pocket and turned the flashlight on. I could barely see the last step of the stairs. The closer I got to the basement, the louder the sound. Everything seemed to be fine down there. Except, of course, there was no light. And the noise was then quite loud. I wanted to leave, I needed to leave; but for some reason I walked to the spot where the noise seemed to be coming from. Then I saw him… A man was standing there, in the shadows, with a big knife. “I didn´t know how to make you come down. I really wanted to kill you today morning.” And as soon as he said so, he stabbed me on my chest Suddenly I woke up! It was just a dream. So I stood up, had a shower, had a fast breakfast and when I was about to leave the house I realised it was locked from outside. A low tapping came to me, I looked at the calendar, it was November the 16th, and that wasn´t a dream.

Racconto breve a 10 mani.
Come rimpiango non aver preso quel treno, sarebbe cambiata così tanto la mia vita….. Avevo finito la scuola ed era il momento di decidere di continuare gli studi o no. Una zia che abitava nella città mi offrì di andare vivere con lei e così iniziare una istruzione universitaria per preparare il mio futuro. L’offerta era una opportunità, ma io non ero mai uscito del mio paesino, ero timida, mi faceva paura partire, lasciare i mie. Ero figlia unica, i miei genitore mi ebbero di maggiori e mi avevano sempre tenuta tra cotoni. Non mi ero sposata, non avevo figli e quanto i miei già non erano cuì mi sono ritrovata sola, senza famiglia, senza parenti, amareggiata, vecchia... No avevo detto il mio nome, mi chiamo Anna, ogni giorno sono peglio, fino a che il mio corpo non ha potuto sopportare tanta ansietà e tanta angoscia e mi hanno portato a ricoverare in ospedale de Burela, nella stanza che mi hanno assegnato , ormai c’era una bambina de cinque anni con una malattia di pancia, lei era accompagnata permanentemente di suo padre, un quarantenne che inoltre di fare la cura de sua figlia, la faceva anche di me, mi domandava sempre si voleva qualcosa, io le rispondeva che no, lui parlava spagnolo con me e anche con i medici e infermiere, invece con la sua figlia parlava in una lingua che mi sembrava italiano, anche se non ero sicura. Dopo due o tre giorni le ho domandato ;Sei italiano?” me risponde: “ non sono spagnolo e sono nato in un piccolo paesino galiziano che si chiama Ourol”, io zita, lui sigue parlando e dice: “quando avevo dodici anni sono andato a Milano a vivere con una sorella di mia madre, dove ho vissuto durante ventinove anni, non ho mai tornato cui, i miei genitore furono morti in un incidente stradale , e questa è stata la causa della mia emigrazione” , in questo momento non sapevo che fare, si dirgli la veritá o essere cita, ma alla fine le dico, anch’io sono nata a Ourol, e di sicuro siamo andati insieme a scuola, io sono Anna e, tu devi essere Pietro? mi ha risposto che si , cisí ricomincia una storia che neanche per sogni sarebbe possibile, e che sicuro porterà la felicità a Anna dato che sempre trascorre un altro treno...

Ma a volte la realtà ha due facce e in ospedale mi ero ammalata di una malattia incurabile che non ha alcuna vaccinazione. Sarebbe stato meglio perdere la memoria e non ricordare più nulla, dimenticare nomi e facce, luoghi, ricordi, stazioni ferroviarie… Avrebbe desiderato avere un corpo insensibile con uno spirito ancora più insensibile. Sarebbe stato meglio non venire qui e che io mi amalassi di dimenticanza per non soffrire ricordando ogni giorno aver perso quel treno per non soffrire che Pietro non mi avessi ricnosciuto. Io sono rimasta zitta e il suono lontano del treno mi ricordò che era l’ora di prendere le pillole.Il meglio sta arrivando, così ricomincio da qui. Questa mattina mi sono svegliata tarde. Non ho dormito bene. I miei ricordi se mescolavano con scene della mia vita e con altri che non sono mai successe ma che erano nel mio subcosciente, forse dovrebbero essere successe. Il letto vicino a me e vuoto. Piero e la bambina sono usciti prima che io me svegliasse. Mi alzo subito, faccio la doccia veloce e meto tutte le mie cose in un sacchetto senza aspettare la visita medica. Non voglio sapere quanto tempo ho, voglio soltanto trovarli. Questa volta non verró spaccare il treno. Oggi sono sicura de intraprendere l’ultimo ma, di sicuro, il miglior viaggio della mia vita… Dovrei avere il coraggio di essere felice per l'ultima volta. Un buon motivo per essere contenta. Con la gente che mi piace, con l'aria in faccia, con il cielo sopra di me. Mi porti via con voi? Sorriderò prima di andare, e la mia tristeza sparirà. Non sarà una pazzia, sarà la libertà. Ti racconterò tutto quello che conosco su Ourol, sulla tua famiglia... Ho fatto gli errori e non voglio mai sbagliare. Non voglio restare da sola. Loro sono andati e la mia casa è diventata un tempio cioè che devo provare a dimenticare tutto e andare avanti. Ora noi siamo già più vicini. Amici come prima.Il meglio sta arrivando, così ricomincio da qui. .

Once upon a time there was … a reading club The third edition of Reading Club Sección EOI Burela, founded in 2014, took place during this school year. This bookclub was carried out at an advanced level. We met once a month after having read each book. We selected our readings from a variety of literary genres, ranging from detective to historical novels. Thus, we began with John Grisham’s The Rainmaker, a modern legal thriller that at the time was also being broadcasted on TV, so we talked about the similarities and differences between the book and the movie.
Since 2016 marked the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s birthday, we joined the celebration by reading Taste and Other Stories, breathtaking stories with a final twist that made us want to continue reading up to the very end of the book.
The Spanish film director based her movie “Learning to Drive” (2014) on a short story Katha Pollitt published in The New Yorker. By comparing both, we talked about immigration, language, adaptation to a new culture, cultural shock and so on.
Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities was a favourite historical novel among many students, so this time we read it in English. They offered some interesting contributions in these sessions with regards to character development, the historical period, the comparison with our contemporary situation and the role of women in the novel.

To end up the school year, we read Julia Alvarez’s A Cafecito Story / El cuento del cafecito, a bilingual book written by this well-known Dominican-American author. Students commented on the potential readers of bilingual books, finding them really useful for English students, among others. We talked about the woodcuts that illustrate the book and the parallelism with the plot, about the role of education in helping to change the world, about the use of stories to understand life and about dreams coming true.

LES CRÊPES
INGRÉDIENTS MODE DE PRÉPARATION PÂTE: 125 gr de farine 2 œufs ¼ l de lait 50 gr de beurre 5 gr de sucre Sel (une pincée)
SAUCE : 75 gr de chocolat 100 ml de lait
PÂTE a) Fondez le beurre dans le micro-ondes pendant 3040 secondes. b) Versez le lait, le beurre et les œufs dans un bol. c) Ajoutez la farine, le sucre et le sel. d) Mixez les ingrédients et passez-les par une passoire pour enlever tous les grumeaux qui peuvent rester. e) Étalez le fond d’une poêle antiadhésive avec le beurre (une cuillère à café) et faites-la chauffer à feu moyen. f) Versez un peu de pâte dans la poêle, étendez-la bien et, quand elle commence à cailler, retournez-la. Cuisinez-la des deux côtés et retirez-la sur une assiette. g) Répétez l’opération jusqu’à finir toute la pâte.
SAUCE a) Mettez le chocolat et le lait dans une casserole à feu doux et fondez le chocolat.

WIENER APFELSTRUDEL (Etwa 12 Stück) 60 min. ZUTATEN Für das Backblech Etwas Fett Backpapier Strudelteig 50 g. Butter oder Margarine 200 g. Weizenmehl 1 Prise Salz 75 ml lauwarmes Wasser
Füllung etwa 1kg Äpfel 90 g. Butter oder Margarine 50 g. Semmelbrössel 50 g. Rosinen 100 g. Zucker 1 Packung Vanillezucker 50 g. gehackte Mandeln Puderzucker
ZUBEREITUNG: STRUDELTEIG Butter oder Margarine in einem Topf zerlassen. Mehl in eine Rührschüssel geben. Übrige Zutaten hinzufügen und mit einem Mixer, erst kurz, dann auf höchster Stufe zu einem glatten Teig verarbeiten. In einem kleinen Topf Wasser kochen, den Topf ausgiessen und abtrocknen. Den Teig auf Backpapier in den heissen Topf legen, mit einem Deckel verschliessen und den Teig 30 Min. ruhen lassen. Das Backblech fetten un den Backofen etwa 180 º vorheizen. FÜLLUNG Äpfel schälen und in feine Stifte schneiden. Butter oder Margarine in einem Topf zerlassen. Teig halbieren und jede Teighälfte ausrollen. 2/3 des restlichen fettes auf den Teig streichen und Semmelbrössel daraufstreuen. Die Apfelstifte, Rosinen, Zucker, Vanillezucker und Mandeln darauf verteilen. Diw Teigränder auf die Füllung klappen, aufrollen und an dem Enden zusammendrücken. Die Strudel auf das Backblech legen und mit etwas Fett bestreichen. BACKEN Nach 30 Min. Backzeit den Strudel mit übrigem Fett bestreichen. Nach dem Backen den Strudel erkalten lassen oder warm servieren. Strudel mit Puderzucker bestreuen.

Durante este curso, o Departamento de Francés da EOI decidiu organizar un Club de Conversa para todo o alumnado interesado que tivo comezo o día 1 de decembro de 2016. As sesións quincenais desenvolvéronse os xoves de 16h30 a 17h30. Nestas sesións os alumnos e alumnas presentes practicaron a expresión oral a través de xogos , diálogos, opinión persoais, monólogos, … sobre temas de actualidade sempre en relación coa gramática e o léxico visto en clase.

Durante o mes de marzo de 2017, o Departamento de Francés organizou un ciclo de cine en francés durante o cal se proxectaron as seguintes películas: Monsieur Batignole, de Gérard Jugnot (08/03/2017) Sous la France occupée de 1942, à Paris, Edmond Batignole, un boucher sans histoire, tente de survivre comme tant d'autres. Il va lutter pour sauver la vie de Simon, un petit enfant juif, qui lui demande de l’aide pour retrouver sa famille.

Mais, la violence quotidienne de la cité fait ressurgir les blessures encore ouvertes de la guerre.
Bienvenue chez les ch’tis, de Dany Boon (29/03/2017) Philippe Abrams, directeur d'une agence de La Poste, se voit muter à Bergues dans le Nord-Pas de Calais (région tout au nord de la France) pour avoir triché dans une demande de mutation. Plein de préjugés sur l e nord, ses habitants (les ch'timis), leur langue (le ch'ti), Philippe va découvrir une autre vérité et une nouvelle vie, pleine de surprises …

OUR IRISH DIARY (A SCHOOL TRIP TO DUBLIN)
Our trip to Dublin from 25th February to 1st March was such an unforgettable experience!!!!!!!! We enjoyed the company of some of our students from the School of Languages in Burela, we visited many different places in and out of the city, and we tasted its delicious food and drinks (beers like the Guinness and its cider). 25th February: We arrived in Dublin and after leaving our suitcases in the hotel rooms, we went for a walk in the evening by the River Liffey to see the Famine Statues, and enjoyed a visit to the nice Pubs with live music in the city centre. Of course we couldn't avoid visiting The Temple Bar a kind of landmark in Dublin. 26th February: After trying the full and delicious Irish breakfast as we would do during all our stay. We took a bus to visit Galway, where we had time to drink an English tea and taste Scones with raisins and see Oscar Wilde and his brother Edward's Statues. After that, we visited Burren and the Cliffs of Moher. It was such an amazing experience!!!!! Beautiful landscape though very cold, windy and rainy weather. Once back in Dublin we had dinner and went to bed early as it had been a really busy day and we were exhausted.

27th February: Getting up early to visit the famous Trinity College was worthy. What a fantastic morning we spent listening to our tour guide's explanations on the school's history, the so well-known students among who there are Nobel prize winners, and visiting its facilities but mainly its library, which undoubtedly is one of the best in the world. Then we went shopping and after lunch we went to the Modern Art Gallery and we visited some parks in the city like Stephen's Park. We also had time to see the Statues of James Joyce, Molly Mallone as well as Oscar Wilde's Statue. While visiting the statue of Molly Mallone we met a young man from Asturias playing the pipe in the street and he played A Rianxeira for us. Singing and dancing “A Rianxeira� all together in the streets of Dublin was the perfect ending for a perfect day. 28th February: The Guinness Storehouse was our first stop that day. The visit surprised us a lot. It was an interesting, entertaining, and fascinating place full of history. We were given the opportunity to craft our own pints of Guinness and of course all of us tried to do so the best we could. That day we also had time to visit Saint Patrick's Cathedral, Dublinia, Christ Church, Dublin's Castle and the Town Hall. That day was unfortunately our last day in the city so we gathered to enjoy our last dinner in the city, and as you may guess we had FISH AND CHIPS of course!!!!! 1st March: we had free time in the morning to go shopping for souvenirs, to visit the Irish Writer's Museum, to take a rest, to go for a walk, to go shopping etc.... as each one preferred before taking the plane back to Spain. Well and as you know everything good ends so we just hope all of you, who travelled with us, enjoyed as much as we did. It was a good opportunity to visit a foreign country, to get to know a new culture and its fantastic, friendly and polite people, and moreover to practise the language. Wishing to visit another place with you next school year.

UN VIAGGIO A MILANO Arriviamo la domenica, 26 febbraio 2017, un gruppo di 25 studenti dell'EOI di Viveiro all'aeroporto di Bergamo. Dopo installarci nell’ hotel Leonardo dà Vinci, a Milano, andammo a cenare alla Pizzeria Poldo a Cormano, vicino a Milano . Il ritorno, una camminata di più di un'ora a piedi.
Il lunedì, 27, alle 10 cominciamo una visita ai posti più emblematici della città della mano della guida locale Cristina. Durante più di tre ore visitiamo il Castello Sforzesco. Oggi alberga 7 musei. Due opere distaccate il sepolcro medievale di Bernabé Visconti e la Rondanini Pietà, ultima opera di Michelangelo. Poi visitiamo la Borsa ed il quarteri della Banca, per finire nel Duomo ed i suoi paraggi. Visitiamo la Cattedrale, el Palazzo Reale, la Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, il centro commerciale La Rinoscente (moderno e lussuoso) vista al Duomo, il Teatro alla Scala e i Musei dei Novecento. La cattedrale di Milano, Il Duomo, iniziata per Gian Galeazzo Visconti in 1386 di stilo gotico, a base di marmore rosa di Candoglia. Tra i molti incantesimi dell'interno del Duomo a sottolineare la meridiana, nel suolo, vicino all'entrata principale, c'è una linea di rame durante la quale si situano i segni dello zodiaco. A mezzogiorno, un raggio di sole entra per un orificio della volta di 24 m. di altezza ed incide su un posto concreto della linea, segnalando la data esatta ed il segno zodiacale di quello giorno.

Il mercoledì trasloco alla città di Bergamo e visita di mattina la città alta, dove sfruttiamo per godere della bellezza di questa stupenda città.
Dopo il cibo e fare un foto nella Biblioteca dell'Università,, ci trasportiamo nell'aeroporto dando per finito questo stupendo viaggio

OUR Scottish experience trail (A SCHOOL TRIP TO edinburgh) Ana and Esther organized an incredible trip to Edinburg two weeks ago. Our flight took off from Vigo on Wednesday morning at eleven a.m. and landed in Edinburgh at two p.m.
Our hotel, Holiday Inn, was in the city center, so all of the group went everywhere from there. The first day we visited Calton Hill and Princess Street. After that we went for dinner but we didn't go to bed late because we needed get up very early.
On Thusday morning we visited The Old Town, there were beautiful places and a big crowd there. Our tourist guide told us about many legends and stories about the city like Bobby, it was the most famous dog in Edinburg, an important philosopher called Hume or "The last drop" a famous bar. Then, we visited " Castle of Edinburgh" so we saw incredible views from there. After lunch, we went to do the shopping in The New Town. Also, we went to a traditional Ceilidh dance, after that we went for a drink and answered many questions from the quiz about Edinburg there. On Friday morning we went to visit the Scottish Parlamient that was designed by a Spanish architect. Then, we went by bus to visit Leith where we ate delicious mussels and we drank some beer too. Finally, at night, all of the group went for dinner to a famous pub called "The Standing Order" in George Street. Then, we visited a pub called "Number One" next to "Balmoral Hotel". Our bus picked us up at half past four on Saturday morning, in front of the hotel. It was a wonderful trip!

VIAXES VIAJAR A EDIMBURGO CON LA E.O.I. DE VIVEIRO Noche sin dormir, encuentro en la Estación de Autobuses de Viveiro, reencuentro con amigas, con conocidas, con desconocidos, pero todos con la ilusión del viaje, del descubrimiento de lo que nos esperaba hizo que el viaje a Vigo fuera, si no corto, ameno, viendo amanecer y en menos que nos dimos cuenta, estábamos en el avión donde, a pesar del ambiente chillón, fui capaz de dormir y desconectar para casi despertarme llegando a otro mundo, aunque distinto, no muy ajeno, también era verde, montañoso, con nubes y claros y que imaginábamos frio. La llegada al aeropuerto, algo decepcionante, con colas serpenteantes que no terminaban, con obras que daban aspecto de algo a medio construir. Salida del aeropuerto, foto con la bandera de Galicia y subida al autobús que nos llevaría al Hotel fui descubriendo poco a poco esa ciudad de cuento que nos esperaba. En los cuentos de mi infancia las iglesias tenían unos picos altos, afilados que pareciera que querían pinchar las nubes y ahí estaban, acompañándonos al centro de la ciudad que íbamos a descubrir durante unos días. Un hotel acogedor que nos ofrecía lo justo para que estuviéramos impacientes por salir a la calle, caminar todo el día y al final acogernos del frio, descansar y volver al día siguiente impacientes por la nueva aventura. Largos paseos, fotos, calles, pubs, monumentos, museos, historia de Edimburgo y Escocia, parques, tiendas, visitas a la costa, fish and chips, pintas de cerveza, de sidra, dulces, escoceses con faldas, mercadillos en Iglesias, ensayos de bailes escoceses, caminatas, más pubs reconvertidos de bancos, de palacios, gente amable, alegre, ciudad bulliciosa llena de vida, buses rojos, cabinas rojas, gobiernos escoces, palacio de la reina, recuerdos, regalos para las personas que queremos. Todo ello se mezcla en mi cabeza como una magnifica experiencia que voy a mantener en mi retina mucho tiempo, tanto por lo diverso, lo atractivo y lo amable, hasta el tiempo hizo un paréntesis para acogernos, ofreciéndonos días soleados, como las compañías de amigas y amigos que se hicieron compartiendo este viaje, el buen humor, las ganas de pasarlo bien, de descubrir y descubrirnos. Ha sido muy gratificante encontrar a las personas que he descubierto en este viaje, sentir la ilusión, el cuidado y con el cariño que se ha preparado y agradecer a las personas que trabajan en esta escuela el interés que ponen para que descubramos los idiomas y lo útiles que nos son para comunicarnos y conocer costumbres, cultura y maneras de vivir en otros países. No me cansaré de dar las gracias.
