SALTY-FLAVORED SOY BEAN MILK
Fry the pickled fish steaks in boiled oil till they turn golden and crispy. Stir-fry ginger and green onion, and add some thin soy sauce and sugar. Then mingle and fry them with the smoked fish steaks.
Made by simply adding some soy sauce, rice vinegar and chopped green onion into fresh soy milk. It will be more tasty if adding some dried small shrimps, seaweed, beef or mutton.
YOU DUN ZI
TIAOTOU RICE-CAKE
Pour the flour paste into a huge iron spoon, add some green onion, white radish slices, fresh minced meat or red bean sauce, then fry them together. The snack is crispy and delicious.
A traditional, long-shaped sweet bar made with sticky rice powder and red bean sauce. It tastes better if you sprinkle a bit Osmanthus blossoms on it.

This project is about food, turning the old residential buildings into fashionable restaurants and stores, meeting the needs of the people from surrounding offices and living areas. As we all know, Shanghai is stylish city. While the old buildings maintaining their surface appearances, the interior are renovated to fashionable and convenient spaces, encouraging more people to visit the history of Shanghai. CLASSIC BLUE---Color of the Year 2020 Pantone
Traditional Shanghai Food mostly are hot, fried food and a bit sweet. To balance the the greasy taste, I choose to use the color of blue, which is relatively elegant and cozy.
ISSUES OF TRADITIONAL FOOD HEAVY SMOKE AND OIL
The process of cooking these traditional snacks discharges much smoke and oil, which are easy to clean up, especially in the hot summer.
POOR ENVIRONMENT
Relevant stores are all old and untidy.
EXPENSIVE RENTS
The rents of these stores are extremely expensive due to its location, so a single store doesn’t make a decent profit.

Shanghai is a city of diversity, many types of food from abroad enters the market and challenge the local, traditional food market.

RENDERINGS
Because of the trend of indoor-comprehensive mall, I combined two units into one large architecture by adding a corridor with roof structure in between. The cluster includes residents from the housing estates in the neighborhood, office workers and people after exercising from the fitness center. I hope this place provides the local residents and office workers a leisure space .
The design strategy is to put a dining hall and a store in either of the two buildings, both are basic elements in residential life. The use of air-conditioner enables people to stay longer without worrying about the temperature.

I believe less is actually more. To make the whole space looks larger, half of the second floor is removed from the dining space, which makes the dining area comfortable and relaxing and enables people to enjoy dining in the old building.
The O P EN KITCHEN aims to show the process of the making food so that and people can experience the FOOD CULTURE.
The KITCHEN PARTITION which blocks the heavy-oil parts can bring the smoke directly to underground through pipes, so that customers can ENJOY WATCHING THE PROCESS without being bothered by the smoke.

According to the trend of INDOOR SUNROOM and the popularity of tropic plants among Shanghai people, I designed the French, double-layer vacuum windows to show the lovely view outside, while letting in abundant sunlight. INDEPENDENT SMOKE EXHAUST SYSTEM are customer smoking area.

Based on researches of stores in the surrounding area, there is no food market nearby, so the store can sell things like flour, spices and vegetables. Most of the second floor is removed in the store, increasing the floor height, but a small part of the second floor is turned into a cold storage, which satisfies the food-storing need.

DESIGN DESCRIPTION The inspiration of this project comes from the chemistry between my best friend and me. After the research, I found that the moon and tides may also affect people's mood. Based on this, I designed a quiet, comfortable and soothing lady bar, where customers can socialize and relax. This project was sets on the top floor of a renovated fabric warehouse. She is always suffering from depression, which worries me a lot.
The phases of moon affect body fluids, which flows in the vessels.
THE STORY OF US There are several hormones in your body fluids that control your emotions.
According to Arnoid L Lieber, people’s emotion is affected by the phases of the moon.
Scientific studies have shown that animals are affected by the phases of the moon and have a fixed time to lay eggs.
SITE ANALYSIS Located on the bank of Huangpu River, the old fabric warehouse has become the main exhibition hall in the middle of the area.
It owns a very good Huangpu river view with a sight of Shanghai's landmark Oriental pearl TV tower
Two old docks have been turned into an art installation that shines at night.
SIGHTSEEING STATION
This project is located in the observation deck of the top floor of the fabric warehouse. The purpose to set up a semi-sheltered roof bar. Problems to be solved: 1. Make good use of the old elevator shaft. 2. Keep ventts in place 3. Provide services for the exhibition area below. 4. Metaphysical design of meditation table.

COMBINATION
Meditation form is from the combination of my friend's and my star plates. Because this building with river scenery is very good, I hope visitors can enjoy Lujiazui lights. Therefore, I design a long corridor, where visitors can enjoy scenery as well as do yoga and meditation, experiencing the sense of impending.
Measuring the position of the meditation table and the circular pit, I decide to set the bar seat according to traffic.

The entrance is surrounded with water tank with a space for live show nearby.The water tank contains ferro fluid controlled by electromagnet up and down. When the guests sit still in the chair, the ferro fluid will stop rest at the bottom. Changing status of the ferro fluid shows various kinds of scenery. The top of building is covered with a curtain where ventilating well. Wind blows the curtain into a nice wave.

An installation was designed in the hall to simulate the moon's graviation to water. I added a cylinder to the original vent to keep the ventilation function. Seeing from the top is a moon-shape, the "water" part of the is divided by cloth fabric.

DESIGN PROCESS
The ring chamber is a place where people lie down and watch astrology. The exhibition provides ladies a break from busy work. I kept the elevator shaft part of the original building and designed it into a bar.
CHERRY BLOSSOM FALLING DOWN SAKURAN was an extraordinary movie from which I learnt the origin story of geisha from it, that is, lives of yuujyo . Girls in the story held a different cognition from now. They sought men’s shelter for a cozy life. However, kiyoha chose a
struggling lifestyle. She gave up fine clothes and gourmet in order to gain freedom, which was remarkable. The design of “CHERRY BLOSSOM FALLING DOWN” elucidates the struggle and living condition of geisha at
that time. Every room played for tourists delineates the epitome of the movie.
MOVIE ANALYSIS
This is a story about Gion (the brothel area in the Edo period), which tells the story of the change of Higura: she changed from a nameless little girl to Kiyoha, and then she has the highest title of a female prostitute -Oiran. In the end, she gave up her glory and cozy life, and chose to escape from Gion and become a free fish. Kiyoha had a yearning for freedom when she was still a little girl. After several escapes, she looked at it and said that she could not open the cherry tree and Kiyotsugi: "If the cherry blossoms are all in full bloom, go out from here." Kiyoha, who grew up and became beautiful, finally became the Oiran of Tamakiku House. After experiencing the emotional damage and miscarriage of Sojiro, she had a new perspective on her life and life.When the cherry tree that Kiyoha has become the orian higura in parade. ---- does not bloom blooms, she flees the Gion with Kiyotsugi. Oiran Dochu.
Gion’s tea house is always graceful and flashing, watching orians generation after generation.
Singing, dancing and shamisen is not enough for an excellent orian. Willpower is a must.
‘An elegant woman smoking a cigarette while looking at books in hand' was kiyoha's first glance at orians. kiyoha then sets her goal as an orian.
Girls are waiting for guests’ selection, sitting in the room surrounded by rails and smoking.
They are punished in a storage room, tied to the pillar and whipped.
After Kiyoha lost her virgin,Gion will have a new orian.
The first night of Kiyoha is a change of identity for her. She is no longer a girl, but a tourist girl with work experience. At this time, she temporarily forgets her pursuit of freedom.
The opening of the Sakura is the hope and dream of Kiyoha, and the comfortable blue pink makes up the whole picture.
Kiyoha and Sojiro sneaked in this room wrapped in yarn.
After kiyoha experienced abortion and was abandoned by her lover, she began to think about her longing for freedom.
The reluctant Kiyoha is often punished, and Kiyoha is locked in the utility room with colorful lamps.Like a goldfish in a gorgeously decorated pool.
To become an Oiran,Kiyoha not only learns dancing and singing,but also helps tama house clean their room.
SPACE ANALYSIS The well-known Geisha is a special existence in Japanese society and a representative of Japanese history and eroticism.They are gradually transformed by the Yuujyo. One of the Geisha's work is to serve the guests to eat and drink, and to perform singing and dancing performances for the guests. Musical instruments and dance learning are very difficult.On the basis of this, the girl also needs to increase sexual services to meet the needs of the guests.
Kiyoha always remembers seeing the scene of the flower makeup day: a gorgeous goldfish smoking a book, and Kiyoha saw the Oiran and the guest engaged in sex transactions in this room, so that Kiyoha learned about the work and tasks of the girl.
Yuujyos sit behind the fence and are selected by the guests. The girls dressed up are attracted to the attention of the guests.This is what I think is similar to the goldfish. People watch the goldfish through the fish globe.
Gion's doors and windows can reflect various colors, which come from all kinds of smiles — girls’ shy grin, guests’ heroic laugh and procuress’ heartfelt smile after receiving money. Under these shining colors, girls are wrapped into a beautiful goldfish in Gion.
The first night may not be satisfying, but it shows working ability in Gion. It’s like a goldfish showing off its beautiful tail and shining scales after swimming through the dark path.
Flower is the symbol of love and sex, which contains my praise to yuujyo as the serving part. They are as beautiful as flowers but also fragile. In the oriental culture, flower also has the meaning of sexual suggestiveness for the ancient Chinese use flowers and fish to decorate their bed.
Kiyoha dreamt of freedom when she was a little girl. After several failed escapes, she stared at bare cherry tree which was said to remain this poor and made wish with Kiyotsugi: "I will run away from here when the cherry blossom."
The smile on kiyoha’s face shows the tension brought by the first night as well as the expectation to become oiran.Kiyoha then blossomed, flirting between the guests.
Goldfish represents the forbidden love during their serving. Innocent girls also look forward to love stories. However, choosing this job means the end of romance.

Referred to traditional Japanese architecture forms, gable and hip roof is used.
Doors and Windows
The palisade is made of red pine, while black pine builds doors and windows. Color and white window papers are used.
Wall and Floor
White gypsum slurry combined with straw is used for the wall Green mat and wooden tatami are used for the floor.
Frame
The frame made of black pine forms the loadbearing structure.
Referred to the Kyoto’s architectural appearance, walls on either side of the structure are expunged in order to express the inside fully. The corridor, water room and night in gion are dig down 400mm.

In the BANQUET, guests and yuujyo were toasting to each other while flowers that represented dancing yuujyo started to rotate. The invert created a dreamland, strengthening the sense of unreality.

In the movie, the blossom of cherry tree guides Kiyoha to escape from Gion and to pursue freedom. The SAKURA tree on the corridor side is also blooming. Will it guide the lost tourists?
Girls’ FIRST NIGHT room is decorated with green yarn and translucent byobu.
The floor of corridor is made of glass so that koi’s movements can be easily seen. Lights of corridor reached water surface and then reflect to the construct with a sparkling form. Tourists can go through the SHADOW CORRIDOR and then visit accessible rooms to experience their daily life.
Blossom room brings yuujyo’s daily life back.
yuujyo kept their hairstyle by a small neck pillow. It made them feel extremely uncomfortable while sleeping, but built their endurance. The blooming flowers fulfilled all parts of the room, which indicates the blossom in career.
Yuujyo need to obtain lots of skills in STUDIOS like dancing, singing, serving, playing music instruments and etc. Temari can be seen in their arduous daily life, which indicates their expectation to freedom.
Water room depicts the scene where the oiran
shyohi has sex with guests. Shaking lights and the fish images reflected on the wall, matching the old saying, “Intercourse between men and women is just like the intimate between water and fish�.
GROW IN PAIN
Researches found that most murderers' childhood was very unhappy. MAKE MEMORIES OF MURDER make me wonder why these people choose to hurt others for satisfying themselves? Why they choose to be a murder?whether they have gotten redempotion? I put the result of research on a conveyer belt to imitate the feelings when they were children.

SITE ANALYSIS
Visitors can visit the whole museum through the T. While transporting through the space, they can experience the age of 0-18 years old. This is a spiraling curved space which sets in the ZHONGSHAN PARK in Changning District, Shanghai.
MATERIAL EXPERIMENT I used wool experiment to simulate the rhythm of the black lines. The increasing amount of black lines makes visitors feel more uncertainty and depression. Black and white forms high contrast.Therefore, I apply this result to the color and material changes of the wall laid in the space.

T h e CO N V E YO R B E LT m o ve s s l o w l y. T h e first theme is the inner world of the SIMPLE NEWBORN. I use the PURE WHITE to paint the entire space, representing the simple beginning of the murderer. The light generation shows the goodwill that the murderer encountered when he was young. The LONG LIGHT represents a BEGINNING.
T h e re i s a T R A N S PA R E N T AC RY L I C SECURITY CHECK at the entrance. When the visitors pass, it will flash blue light. It simulates the FEELING of PASSING THE CONVEYOR SCANNER, creating a sense of substitution for the child's growth.

BLACK that made of woolen strings gradually appears on the wall, which is used to express the pain that the murderer encountered during his growth, such as ABUSE, RAPE, AND COLD VIOLENCE. THE NUMBER OF LIGHTS in space gradually INCREASES as they GROW OLDER.

Strings in the space grows out more and more ACRYLIC TUBES SURROUNDED AROUND LIGHT BULB, which means that the malicious encounters in life begin to cover the goodwill in child’s pure life. Look out the window opened here can SEE “KILLING”, suggesting that if there is no change at this time, child will fall into the abyss.

While malicious overtakes goodwill, the CHILD'S HEART IS WRAPPED IN DARKNESS. The whole space is painted in black, and THE STARS ARE LIGHTED to express THE CHILD'S PURSUIT OF LIFE. The size of the bulb is shrinking to simulate the goodwill of the child's inner swing.
There are windows above the 5TH THEME to make the sunlight project naturally, SIMULATING THE REDEMPTION IN LIFE. As time flies, the angle of the sun changes. The strength of the fiber formed different shape and brightness with the wall surface. Indicating that the DIFFERENT SALVATION RECEIVED FROM PARENTS, FRIENDS AND TEACHERS.

The roof window opened in this space uses red glass, which represents killingbad influence. If the child grows in bad environment and surrounded with the increasing killing, he is getting into a crazy realm because of more stimulation. The RED IRRITATING LIGHT in the black space let visitors feel the sense of DESPAIR AND HELPLESSNESS.

The red window represents SELFINDULGENCE, while the transparent one represents instructions of self-restraint in society. Light though the red window seems to be more attractive in the picture, and the child can RESIST THIS ATTRACTION and choose to become a kind-hearted person.

The space is painted in GRAY, referring to "THE WORLD OF ADULTS IS NOT BLACK OR WHITE". At the age of 18, life turn to a new beginning. With the lights that are also close to the ground and "birth" echo, EVERYTHING IS BRAND NEW.

MERMAID IN A DISH Yumeiko Takahashi's "Mermaid Forest" opened up a new world for me, that is, eating mermaids. It symbolized crazy darkness of human beings in pursuit of immortality, and even with my own immortal appearance. However, drugs are poisonous so that only a very few people who eat mermaids achieve immortality, mos t become fish monsters or die instantly.
SKETCH OF INSPIRATION
In the future, when extremely advanced science technology appears. However, people’s daily life is not getting better because of the productivity of science and technology progress, they lost themselves in the material overflow.
In the meantime, eating mermaid become a trend. It is a gamble, successful people ca n b e co m e c re at u re s t h at w i l l never fade. The loser may turn into a monster or die on at once. This kind of gambling does not scare off
human beings, but become social competitive entertainment. Mermaid stalls can be seen everywhere. It is not known whether the mermaid people will disappear after this absurd excitement.
Human will turn into monster after eating mermaid.
The lucky few won't die and stay young.
