Guide to Email Signatures

The Connected Genealogist Guide to Email Signatures You can easily create an email signature which appears at the end of each new email message or reply message you create. Take advantage of this “free space” and advertise your genealogy business, upcoming genealogical society events and more! Basics • Some email programs offer more formatting options than others. • When possible create different signatures for different “hats” (genealogy business, genealogy society, personal, etc.). • Use color and graphics to catch the recipient’s eye. • Always include links to your website, blog, Facebook page, etc. • Take advantage of profile building programs with built-in email signature generators such as Retaggr (http://www.retaggr.com). Gmail 1. Log in to your Gmail account. 2. Click Settings in the upper-left hand corner. 3. On the General tab, scroll down and locate the Signature section. Enter the text of your email signature. Use the Rich Text Format toolbar to add bold, italics, add links and images. 4. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the screen.

Note: Gmail only allows links to images - you cannot upload an image to appear in the signature. ©2010, copyright High-Definition Genealogy (http://hidefgen.com)
