September 2013 Dear Parents, Hello! My name is Mr. Carboni, and your son is assigned to me for Microsoft Desktop Support Technician, PC Maintenance & Repair, or Accounting 2 class this year. I just wanted to let you know how excited I am about working with your son this coming year in an open, supportive classroom environment. Please visit GradeConnect.com and use your Free Parent Account to stay informed of your son’s progress. On GradeConnect.com you can see the course outline listing the learning objectives for this year as well as individual Assignment, Quarter, and Semester grades. It explains what my expectations are for the class in my quest to create an open, supportive setting. I need your assistance in reinforcing these with your son if we are to have a positive learning environment. Beyond the classroom rules, I want to make you aware of my teaching philosophy. I hold the highest expectations for your son. Basically, my philosophy is that the students should be taking personal pride and responsibility in their work. This means that your son should always know what assignments and projects he has coming up. It means knowing how to prepare the assignments and turning those in or publishing them when they are due (Note: See ASSIGNMENTS, ATTENDANCE, AND GRADING POLICY on the Course Outline). It means taking care of missed assignments when not in class, either for a field trip or an excused absence. It means asking for help if concerns are not being addressed in class. It means that your son should be aware of his academic standing in the course by checking GradeConnect.com. It means always putting forth a best effort. That is what I ask of your son. In return you can be assured I will do everything in my power to help your son grasp the concept or task at hand. It is only in giving 100% effort in his work that he can expect to get a 100% return on his efforts. The content in this course will be conveyed in numerous ways this year. One of my goals is to incorporate a 21st Century skill set into my class as well as to continue to use some traditional methods that promote strong thinking. These methods include, but are not limited, to the following types: class discussions, online discussions, blogging, social networking sites, with , and Internet conferences. Whether pursuing a college career or entering the work force upon the completion of high school, these are skills all students can use. If at any point in time you have any concerns about your son that you would like to share with me, please feel free to contact me in one of the following ways: By phone: 215-338-9494 Ext: 2046 or 267-888-6433 (preferred). You can also e-mail me at – gcarboni@fatherjudge.com.

Furthermore, know that I will contact you if I have any concerns that I feel are affecting your son. I hope to deal with any concerns as quickly as possible.

If you have Internet access, remember you can also track class activities, due dates, and individual project requirements via GradeConnect.com parent’s login page After having carefully reviewed both this letter and the attached Social Media Guidelines, please return the tear off section at the bottom of that page. In closing, I look forward to working with you and your son during the upcoming year. Thanks for your support!! Sincerely, Mr. Gene Carboni
