The cannabis industry in New York is unfolding before our eyes. As we anxiously await new updates from the Office of Cannabis Management, many legacy and native entrepreneurs have already begun building the foundations of their businesses. As we continue on our path to build a more verdant cannabis industry in WNY, it’s important we keep in mind that this isn’t a new industry. Cannabis businesses have been around for a long time, but until now were forced to operate underground. As these businesses move above ground, we must make sure the ground on which they’re built contains healthy soil. It’s crucial that conditions are right to enable the sustainable and long term growth of these businesses. If you haven’t sought legal counsel for your venture, the time to do so is now. Inside this issue you’ll find insights from two local law firms that offer advice and counsel to individuals seeking to build enduring cannabis businesses. Hodgson Russ LLP (one of the oldest law firms in the U.S.) and Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP. These attorneys are here to help guide you on your path to bringing your business above ground.

In this issue, we learn about cannabis and trademarking, we revisit our friends from Plant Science Labs, and take a trip to a dispensary located on the Seneca Nation reservation.

As always, thank you for reading. Please tell a friend about us and visit us online at CannaBuff.com.
