Lot # 20 Tri-ang Toys Ltd version of the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud 111 by Mulliner Park Ward. This is a rare factory prototype, marketed in the 1960’s and made under licence from RR and retailed in superior department stores. This is in brilliant white and comes in its original factory brown cardboard box. The Bentley S3 convertible has the same specification and is taken from the same mould. It is, however, a unique and very special commission by her (late) Royal Highness Princess Diana, The Princess of Wales, for her son Prince William in the 1980’s. A special division of Tri-ang (known as Tri-ang Sharna Ware PLC., Sharna being the name of the director’s daughter) was set-up during this period to produce the new RR Corniche series of pedal and electric toy cars. On special request the old 1960’s mould was used to make a Bentley version of the S3 convertible having a special one-off Bentley grill and also it was electric powered. This is finished in Old English White. HRH later decided to put this car into the charity auction for ‘Children in Need’. The buyer then later put it into a specialist toy auction. Sold here as a unique pair. Estimate CHF17’000-CHF25’000 for the pair, with a reserve of CHF15’000 on the pair. Excellent condition. Provenance supplied with both cars.
