1. Welcome to Haderslev 1.1 - A message from the board

Mojn. The board of ESN Haderslev is

very excited to welcome you all to our little but beautiful city. We hope you will enjoy our National Platform and help us strengthen our network even more. When in Haderslev remember to take a look at the cathedral (Haderslev Domkirke), the trademark of the city, drink lots of Fuglsang beer, it is our biggest pride after all, and most importantly go say ‘Hi’ to the geese in Damparken. Yes,

you read that right. ESN Haderslev has grown quite fond of the geese. So much actually that we know how to pet them. Just grab them gently around the neck and give them a few friendly pats on the head. No big deal. Only when you have befriended the geese can you call yourself a Haderslev ESNer. Please consult one of the members of ESN Haderslev before you try though. We wouldn’t want to upset them.

1.2 - About ESN Haderslev and UC Syd

ESN Haderslev is Denmarks youngest section, established in 2013. We are a small section that helps around 70 Erasmus students every year. Our board consists of 12 comitted members and each year we arrange a number of parties and trips, such as our Legoland trip, Aarhus trip and Eurovision party. We are located at University College Syddanmarks campus in Haderslev.

There are about 1,200 students on campus distributed among the six educations, teacher education, english and IT-based marketing and communication, health and nutrition, graphic design, sonic college, and physiotherapy. Two of those accept Erasmus students, the teacher education having the majority while english and IT-based marketing and communication has a handful.

3. Travel information By Train and bus The easiest way from most of Denmark to get to Haderslev is to go by train to Vojens. Haderslev does not have a train station of its own, so once you have arrived in Vojens get bus 135 to Haderslev Busstation. Alternatively you can get the train to Kolding and then take bus 134, again to Haderslev Busstation. From the busstation it is just a few minutes’ walk to UC Syddanmark. (See map on p. 9)

By Plane If you are arrving from out of the country the nearest airport is in Billund. There is a connection from Billund to Haderslev once an hour throughout the day. Get bus 43 to Vejle Trafikcenter, from there bus 900X towards Sønderborg and get out at Haderslev Busstation.

By Car If you are coming by car, take the motorway E45 and take the exit 67 to Haderslev N. Turn left towards Haderslev and follow Moltrup Landevej until you reach Haderslev. Continue straight ahead at the big lightcrossing, then left at Clausenvej (just before Føtex), then right onto Lembckesvej and you will be able to see our campus. There is plenty of free parking all around the campus. Just find a spot in one of the parking lots labelled with the orange UCSyd signs.

By Viking Boat If you feel like getting out the old viking boat that is no problem either. Just sail down Haderslev Fjord until you reach Haderslev Harbour. From there it is just about half an hour walk to the campus. May Thor be with you and wind favour your journey.

5. Food ESN Haderslev will provide you with the following meals. Lunch and dinner on Friday, breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and break On the Saturday evening we will have dinner at Café Kridt in town. They are known for their good burgers and reasonable prices. On the Friday afternoon we will also be offering a traditional Sønderjysk Kaffebord, so get ready for cake for days.

6. Parties Tyrolerfest at the Fredags Cafe On the Friday evening our Fredags Cafe is doing their version of the German Octoberfest. There will be unlimited draught beer for 100 kr. from 17 until 23 o’clock. So bring your Lederhosen and your Dirndl and get ready to sing along to 99 Luftballons. The Fredags Cafe is located on campus.

A night in town Saturday night, after our dinner at Cafe Kridt, everyone is free to enjoy a night in Haderslev. We might not have that many options, but that does not mean we don’t know how to have fun. Our recommendations are: Tribunen. A popular bar, with decent music, good atmosphere, a pool table, and card and dice games. 10’er Bar. As the name suggests the prices here go from 10,- 20,- 30,- kroner and so on. The cheapest place to get a round of drinks. Crazy Daisy. As we are a small city, of course we have a Crazy Daisy. If you want to go dancing this is your best (and only) option. Everything is located within 10 minute walking distance from campus.

7. What to bring Please bring (air)mattresses and a sleeping bag along with a pillow. You will also need to bring towels and your own hygiene items. Other useful things are money, ID, phone/camera, laptop etc.
