More people are choosing to call Knoxville HOme
According to USA today, Knoxville’s population increased 4.7 % (36,696 people) from 2010 to 2017.
Why are people moving to Knoxville? With great “four-season” weather, a downtown full of culture, and of course the VOLS it’s no wonder everyone wants to live in Knoxville TN. This article explores why, that these days, it seems like a lot of people are moving here. According to USA today, due to migration, Knoxville’s population increased 4.7 % (36,696 people) from 2010 to 2017. I interviewed 20 people that have migrated to Knoxville and found that people moved from all over: small towns, big cities and other countries. They all have found in Knoxville the home that they always wanted. Caroline O’Sullivan moved here from a small town in South Georgia in 2010 for college and ended up staying. Her favorite aspects about Knoxville are that it’s a big enough city that has a variety of different things going on with many different events yearly, but also small enough to satisfy her need for cozy, comfortable small-town vibe that she loves. Sherri Lundy moved from Albuquerque, NM IN 1995 to start her own business, she has been here ever since. Amanda Ferrell Spencer, did as well, she moved from Dallas and both feel like Knoxville is a very affordable city. And both love the small town feel and the views of the mountains. Rachel Reilly Anderson, moved from Chicago, IL. The main reason why she moved was our wonderful weather. When asked the main differences between the two places her answer was clear: “So many “outdoorsy” things to do less people and traffic, much prettier and cheaper than Chicago.” Retirement is another good reason why people choose Knoxville. It was Barb Venzon Grow’s reason, her and her husband moved from Peoria IL in 2017.She loves our southern hospitality and our weather. One of her favorite aspects is our natural beauty not to mention our wonderful community that, in her opinion, really takes care of one another. Danielle Bernard moved from Wisconsin, in 2014 and just like Rachel she was looking for warmer weather. Her favorite aspects are the affordability of houses, the fact that Knoxville is a family friendly city and the fact that her family was “born” here, since she went through the process of foster care and adoption. I really enjoyed writing this article and knowing more about the wonderful people that are moving to Knoxville. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
