CONNEX Music Project

1

This project involved Designing a new musical related product, either anolog or digital. It Must encorporate the basics of musical fundementals. Gauge how we interact and use music, and create an understanding of the current landscape. I personally looked into sustainability within the music industry and designed a product that could be benificial and rewarding to both the target user and target market.

Design Process


The ConneX is a modular, interchangeable and adaptable dancefloor. It is a healthy alternative to your standard dance floor, as it harnesses the kinetic movement produced by users. It is then relayed to a lithium ion battery that stores the clean and renewable energy.

BEDBOARD COLLAPSIBLE PROJECT This project explored designing a foldable product that directly addresses the problem of shortage of space. With important considerations of; unnecessary wastage, sustainability and life cycle.

To me the brief formost outlined the importance of sustainability and the collapsibility of the product. This encouraged me to delve into designing products using easily recyclable and attainable materials. Here is the results...

...I chose the idea of a cardbaord bed that could be collapsed or taken apart using simplistic but strong mechanisms.




In Situation

CONTEXT This product is targeted at low income families from Hong Kong. It is an inexpensive collapsible bed that is produced from easily attainable and renewable materials (cardboard and foam mattress). It’s perfect for homes short of space as the bed can be compressed and held together using the velcro straps.

Methodology

Conducting initial research to identify issues surrounding extreme sports and time. Talking to the target user to help gather insight and gain inspiration to start ideation. Narrowed the extreme sport to mountain biking, and generating some initial ideas. Final concept is a comfortable protective glove with a flexible LED screen, which allows the user to accurately time themselves while completing a downhill course.

GLOVE CONCEPT

This glove is designed for mountain bikers who compete in downhill runs, with winning margins being often less than a second. This device allows a clear way of timing yourself without having to use an external source to find out your times. Clear color scheme and symbols indicate which buttons start, stop, reset and activate the timer/LED signal
