MY ADVENTURE... Monticello & Falling Water By Georgia Brown

MONTICELLO This is one of my favorite photos I took of Monticello. I wasn’t sure what to expect when visiting for the first time. It definitely had a more historical feel to it that I appreciated learning about. I felt as though it was a good experience to see how the upper class lived back in the day and to see the difference in architecture. What I liked about it was the quirky character the building had. Instead of a crisp, modern look, it was full of different nooks and crannies with secret closets, narrow stair ways, beds caved into the wall etc. So it was very interesting to take a tour and listen to the tour guide who had a lot of knowledge about the house and history that came with it. I also fell in love with the landscaping such as the vegetable garden, and the abundance of beautiful bright flowers like you can see in this image!

FALLING WATER Falling water was probably my favorite out of the two. I love the feeling it had of being so isolated and found the story and history behind it fascinating. For the time period it was built in, it was extremely modern and had architectural features that had never been seen in a home before such as the rebar. The fact that it sat over top of a river/ stream made it a very unique home and added the “one with nature feel to it which I was in love with. It was nothing flashy with the colors which I admired too.

As you can see clearly here, there was a huge feel for horizontal lines.
