Ronald wants soda tabs You will need: At least 1 member and soda tabs. Description: Ronald McDonald House Charities provide roofs, beds, and a comfortable life to families forced to travel far from home to seek treatment for their seriously ill or injured children. Treatments that can, in themselves, cause financial distress to a family, can last a day, a month or even longer. Ronald McDonald Houses located near major hospitals, especially those specializing in child care, can alleviate at least some of the stress by providing the necessities of life for free, so parents can stay focused on their child’s recuperation. Collecting pop tabs in your school or community for donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities can help fund this great work. Service Chair Victoria Byrd
The Outstanding Club T-shirt Award is presented to the top THREE clubs that have a creative and innovative club t-shirt promoting Circle K. Below are some tips to consider when designing your club t-shirt:
Make the Circle K emblem stand out! Why not put the GACKI logo on there too? School name is always a plus! Make sure all members have the chance to wear one of your awesome shirts. Motivate your members to wear their shirts… A LOT! As always, be creative! Don’t be afraid to make your shirt stand out (while still upholding the tenets of Circle K, of course!).
Please remember that your t-shirt must be turned in at DCON in order to be judged! There will be a fashion show of shirts at DCON…Be ready to strut your stuff! *For more information, contact Awards chair Julie Meigs at awards@georgiacirclek.org. œ œ Awards Chair Julie Meigs
Make a Date Goal: It is essential to get your club members and potential members comfortable and friendly before every meeting. A great way to do this is to conduct an ice breaker which gives all the people present at your meeting an opportunity to interact in a fun manner. One of my favorite ice breakers is a game called ‘Make a date.’ I enjoy this ice breaker because it gives each person at the meeting an opportunity to interact with every other person present. Materials: Paper and writing utensils Directions: This is how the activity works: each person gets a piece of paper and draws a clock on it. After everyone has done this, give the group 5 – 10 minutes to go around the room making dates for each hour with different people. Following the activity, you can then offer the group an opportunity to share any interesting dates that they made. Lt. Governor Simi Oludare
College Campus Fundraisers Attraction. Conversations. Care. Details. These are some of the key elements that can help truly give any club an advantage in recruit new members. Tip one: Attraction. You must get people’s attention to come over to your table. Try using fun games or a raffle of items so they may open up to you . Tip Two: Conversation. Startup conversations with people before you tell them what you are all about. This can make people feel more welcome and more eager to listen to what you have to say. Tip Three: Care. Show them the care you have for them and how much you care in what you believe in. This helps them understand you and what you stand for. Tip Four: Details. Telling them that you volunteer at a shelter doesn’t always give them the details they want to hear. Giving them details of what you do, how you do it, and what you feel about tends make things be more visual for them. Lt. Governor Christine Mayfield
These are larger scale fundraisers and take more time to plan and they typically do cost some money to put on but can bring in larger revenue. Powder Puff Football: Try a role reversal for this one...have the females done uniforms and equipment to play a game of football while the boys lead the cheers with pom poms in hand! The novelty of this idea will attract a large crowd. Money comes from gate admission and refreshment sales. This is an ideal homecoming week activity. You can also sell concessions to make extra money. Skate Night: If you have a local ice rink, try and book it for a night. You can charge people to enter the event and skate for a set amount of time. Try a fun theme, get local entertainment and do something to make this a special night and better then just an open skate. Fashion Show: Work with area boutiques for event-only donations and access to models. Charge an admission for the event. Battle of the Bands: Scout local talent and solicit bands to perform at no cost to the event. Publicize bands performing. Solicit donations from local vendors to be given away in raffle drawings.
