METRO DIVISION
INTRODUCTION
F
eatured inside this rousing issue of the Metro Division newsletter is a recap of our St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event, which took place earlier this month. In addition, I’ve included plenty of information on what to expect in the coming month, our last of the 2016-2017 service year. Hope you enjoy! Tyler Wan Metro Div. LTG

ST. BALDRICK’S
O
n March 4, 2017, six Circle K members of the Metro Division shaved their heads to raise money for childhood cancer research. They were Drew Kelley, Destini Tobias, and Kylie Wilson from UWG along with Lucy Zheng, Ben Suter, and myself from Georgia Tech. While most of us arrived with the intention of shaving our heads, Kylie actually made the deci-
sion last minute and signed up to brave the shave on the spot! Altogether, the Georgia District raised over $4000 for an amazing cause, and I’m so glad I got to share this experience with everyone there.
MEET YOUR NEW LTG
E
very year at DCON, we elect the new District Board for the upcoming service year. This year, three members from the Metro Division were elected. First, Kylie Wilson from UWG was elected as our new Governor, and Marisa Hoenig, the current president of Georgia Tech, will become our new Editor. Finally, UWG’s very own Tiarra Murphy was elected as an LTG and will serve
the Metro Division starting April 1. Here’s a little about her! Tiarra Tishera Murphy is a sophomore at the University of West Georgia, where she studies Psychology with a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies. She hopes to apply her knowledge in a career as a sexologist. She has been a part of the Kiwanis family for five years, beginning in high school, where she was the Vice President of her Key Club for two years. As a freshman at UWG, Tiarra first took on the role of VP before stepping up to President of her Circle K, where she has remained ever since. Volunteering is something Tiarra loves to do, from simple acts of kindness that put smiles on people's faces to building houses for people that need them. She loves Circle K because she can find people with the same passion as her. I’m so excited to have Tiarra as my successor, and I can’t wait to see the amazing things that she will do for the Metro Division!
