Hey Circle K'ers, this is your District Service Chair, Victoria Byrd! The Circle K year is coming to an end, but that does not mean you have to stop doing servicing others! I hope everyone has had a year full of service, and if I can be of any help to end your year please call me at 706-580-0586 or email me at service@georgiacirclek.org.
There is always time for service!!!
District Service Initiative: HEALTHY HEALTHY (Health and Exercise Always Lead to Happier Youth) was developed in 2001 by the Georgia District Board of CKI. This program focuses on teaching children to eat healthier and lead more active lifestyles. To help with this service initiative you can help out at a youth home, make coloring books to teach children about living a healthier lifestyle, or just anything that helps teach youth about living a healthier lifestyle.
International Service Initiative: STUFH Students Team Up to Fight Hunger (STUFH) began in 1999 at Cornell University. STUFH is dedicated to linking food banks with local colleges and universities for two purposes: to collect food for those who need it most and to raise awareness of these needs upon the local student population. The main focus of STUFH comes at the end of a school year, when students move out of apartments and dorms. Instead of discarding unopened non-perishable food into trash bins as they leave, STUFH supplies food bins for students to donate these unwanted items. There has been more than 1 million pounds of food raised for food banks to feed the hungry. It is the mission of STUFH to increase the gathering of food at college campuses throughout the country. To help with this service initiative you can volunteer at a food bank, make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, work at a homeless shelter, volunteer at a soup kitchen, and you can do can food drives.
Let’s Do Some Service!! PB&J Sandwiches You will need: Bread, peanut butter, jelly, knives, sandwich bags, napkins, and members. Make some PB&J sandwiches, wrap them in plastic bags, and give them to a local homeless shelter or soup kitchen. This is a great service project for meetings and it's not expensive. This service project helps CKI Service partner STUFH.
Eliminate Pins You will need: Lifesavers (individually wrapped), "It's a boy!" and/or "It's a girl!" ribbon, small safety pins, a hot glue gun with glue sticks or super glue, and members. Hot glue/super glue a boy or girl ribbon on the lifesaver wrapper, then run the safety pin through the wrapper on the other side to make a wearable pin which you can distribute or sell to raise money for the ELIMINATE Project. This service project helps CKI Service partner UNICEF.
Decorate Lunch Bags You will need: Lunch bags, markers, crayons, stickers, other decorative material, and members. Decorate lunch bags with fun designs or words that will uplift the spirits of the person receiving it. This service project helps CKI Service Initiative HEALTHY and service partner STUFH.
Bright, shining service You will need: At least 3-5 members, glass cleaner, towels, and anything else to clean with. Take an afternoon to brighten the classrooms and corridors of your campus. Gather a few members of your Circle K Club and equip them with glass cleaner, towels and everything else needed to cut through the grime on the windows. Extend the project to the entire community to make your service more visible, or to raise funds for your favorite service partner or charity.
