TURNER SOCCER COMPLEX
The Turner Soccer Complex is the home of the Bulldogs' soccer and softball programs. The soccer portion of the complex opened September 1, 1998 when Georgia played host to Mercer, winning 1-0. In 2000, the UGA Soccer Stadium served as the site of the Southeastern Conference Women's Soccer Tournament. Host school Georgia welcomed thousands of fans, several media members, and the other seven competing teams and staffs to Athens for the four-day event. The Bulldogs felt right at home as they advanced to their first-ever tournament final, facing eventual champion Florida in front of 2,265 fans, the fourth-largest crowd in facility history.
In 2017, a full reconstruction of the grandstand and press box took place. The press box has ample room for media personnel, as well as game day operations staff, a TV booth, and radio booths for both home and away teams. Additionally, there are two large platforms on either side of the press box for cameras and VIP. Prior to the 2022 season, new wall graphics and a refurbished locker room were installed in the team clubhouse, along with a new video board at the stadium.
Georgia played host to the opening rounds of the 2007, 2022, and 2023 NCAA Tournaments at the UGA Soccer Stadium, and also played host to the Georgia Nike Invitational from 2007-10. In 2022 and 2024, Turner hosted a sell-out crowd for an Atlanta United exhibition match. The facility also hosted training camp and friendlies for the United States and Mexican U-20 women's national teams in July 2024.
In 2006, the Georgia Soccer locker room and offices were renamed the Turner Soccer Complex, recognizing the contributions and support received from the Hoyt "Jack" Turner family of Athens.
Turner's significant financial contributions have helped to provide the Georgia soccer program with the top-notch facility that it now enjoys. Turner is a former Georgia baseball (1951) and basketball (1951-52) player who also served as the volunteer chairman of the Athletic Scholarship Endowment Program. In addition to its contributions made to the soccer program, the Turner family has endowed 10 scholarships for football, men's and women's basketball, gymnastics and baseball.
A 1953 graduate of UGA's Terry College of Business, Turner received a Distinguished Service Award from the college in 2002. The retired chairman of American Funds Distributors, he established the Turner Family Foundation in support of local charities.

RECORD BREAKDOWN
Keidane McAlpine (kuh-DAWN-ee mik-AL-pine), who has led his teams to 12 consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, including a national championship for USC in 2016, became the sixth head coach of the Georgia soccer program in December 2021.
The Huntsville, Alabama native immediately changed the Bulldogs’ fortunes, leading the team to a 13-6-3 record and a trip to the NCAA Second Round in his first season. Under McAlpine’s leadership, Georgia received its first NCAA Tournament bid since 2014 and hosted a home postseason match for the first time since 2007. The Bulldogs also upset Tennessee in the SEC Tournament, reaching the semifinals for the first time since 2010 before falling in penalties to eventual champion South Carolina.
During the season, Georgia went unbeaten on the road in conference play and finished the regular season with six straight results against league opponents, including the first three-game SEC shutout streak since 2010. The Bulldogs tied two program records with 16 different goal scorers and 12 shutouts during the year, all while tallying the second-lowest goals against average rate in program history. Graduate Abby Boyan became the program’s fourth All-American, with Madison Haugen, Dani Murguia, and Cecily Stoute joining her on the United Soccer Coaches All-America Third Team.
McAlpine followed 2022 up with the most successful season in Georgia soccer history. Facing one of the nation’s toughest schedules, the Bulldogs finished 13-4-6 and with a No. 13 final national ranking, the highest among the SEC schools and highest in program history. He also won his 200th career game with a 2-1 victory at Missouri. During the season, Georgia won its first SEC East Division title, followed by the first SEC Tournament championship in school history, overcoming deficits against Kentucky and Texas A&M to advance. The run in Pensacola included playing with 10 players for 88 minutes against the Wildcats and a last-second winner from Croix Bethune to take down the Aggies. The Bulldogs clinched the title with a 1-0 win over No. 10 Arkansas in the final, led by seven saves from Jordan Brown.
In the NCAA Tournament, a late winner from Kiera Staude took down Liberty, 2-1, before a sold-out crowd in Athens before a 3-2 win against Iowa sent Georgia to the Sweet 16 for only the second time in program history. Despite a goahead goal from Bethune in the 85th minute, the Bulldogs surrendered a late equalizer and fell in overtime. Nonetheless, the Bulldogs earned a program-best five postseason victories and were the final SEC team remaining in the field. Bethune became the fifth All-American in program history, earning a place on the United Soccer Coaches Second Team. She was also named to the All-Southeast Region Team, SEC All-Tournament Team, and was named SEC Tournament MVP. She was later drafted third overall by Washington Spirit in the 2024 NWSL Draft, the highest-picked player in school history and highest-drafted SEC player since 2016, followed by winning a gold medal with the United States women's soccer team. Redshirt freshman Summer Denigan was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Year and was the only freshman named to the All-Southeast Region Team. All the while, Georgia soccer attracted 14,571 spectators to the Turner Soccer Complex during the season, the largest season-long crowd in a decade.
Prior to arriving in Athens, McAlpine guided USC to unprecedented success for eight seasons from 2014-21. His 2016 squad finished with a 19-4-2 record on its way to the program’s second national championship, shutting out four consecutive tournament opponents before a 3-1 victory over West Virginia in the College Cup Final. His final 2021 team boasted a 14-3-3 record and finished second in the Pac-12 standings, earning him USC’s first Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors since 1998.
Under his guidance, USC never missed the postseason, won at least one NCAA tournament match in six of the last seven years and never finished worse than fourth in the Pac-12. The Trojans averaged nearly 16 wins a season during his tenure and owned a 13-2-7 postseason record under his watch.
McAlpine's teams have produced 12 All-Americans, over 40 All-Conference selections, three Pac-12 Forwards of the Year, one Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year, one Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year, one Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and two Pac-12 Goalkeepers of the Year. McAlpine and his staff also picked up United Soccer Coaches West Region Staff of the Year honors in 2018 and 2021.
McAlpine’s 17-year head coaching career features stops at Birmingham-Southern, Washington State and USC, where he has compiled a 195-95-40 career record — a 65 percent winning percentage. His career began at his alma mater Birmingham-Southern in 2001 as he guided the program into Division I, eventually winning the Big South championship in 2004 and earning the program's first NCAA Tournament bid. For his efforts, he was named that season's Big South Coach of the Year. Following his tenure at BSC, he spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Auburn.
In addition to his success at USC, McAlpine was named the 2013 Pac-12 Coach of the Year and NSCAA Pacific Region
Coach of the Year at Washington State. He led the Cougars to a program-record 14 wins and a school-best second-place finish in the conference standings. Washington State also made back-toback trips to the NCAA tournament during his tenure.
He has been active in Olympic Development Program for many years and holds a National "A" Coaching License from the United States Soccer Federation and a National Goalkeeping License. McAlpine was actively involved as a coach with the Alabama Youth Soccer Association Olympic Development Program and several club teams. In the summer of 2004, he was selected as a staff coach for the USYSA Region III squad.
McAlpine was a four-year starter at Birmingham-Southern and was named team captain in 1996. During that season, the Panthers finished as runners-up in the NAIA Tournament after advancing to the semifinals the previous season. After graduation, McAlpine spent the 1999 season playing for the Tennessee Rhythm of the A League.
McAlpine earned a bachelor's degree in music business with a minor in computer science from Birmingham-Southern in 1997.

Lockhart has joined McAlpine in guiding their teams to the NCAA Tournament in each of the past 11 seasons, including an NCAA Championship in 2016. While on the Trojans’ staff, USC never finished worse than fourth in the Pac-12 and won NCAA Tournament games in six of the past seven seasons.
Working primarily with the offensive players, Georgia received its first NCAA Tournament bid since 2014 and hosted a home postseason match for the first time since 2007. The Bulldogs also upset Tennessee in the SEC Tournament, reaching the semifinals for the first time since 2010 before falling in penalties to eventual champion South Carolina.
The Bulldogs tied a program record with 16 different goal scorers, Graduate Abby Boyan became the program’s fourth All-American, with Madison Haugen and Dani Murguia joining her on the United Soccer Coaches All-America Third Team. With 117 points and 43 goals on the season, the Bulldogs posted top-10 seasons in school history in both statistics, with the team only being shut out three times.
In his second season, he helped lead Georgia to a 13-4-6 record and No. 13 final national ranking, the highest in program history. Croix Bethune became the fifth All-American in program history and was later drafted third overall by Washington Spirit in the 2024 NWSL Draft, while Summer Denigan was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Year with six goals on the season.
With USC, Lockhart helped produce three-consecutive Pac-12 Forwards of the Year in Tara McKeown (2019) and Penelope Hocking (2020, 2021), one Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year in Croix Bethune (2021), one Pac-12 Freshman of the Year (Hocking, 2018) and a MAC Hermann Trophy finalist in midfielder Morgan Andrews (2016). As a team, USC averaged 44.5 goals per season over his final six seasons, excluding the shortened 2020 season.
While at Washington State, Lockhart helped the Cougars tie the program record for wins in a season (14), while his players set or tied 27 school records. The Cougars finished the 2013 season ranked seventh nationally defensively with only 11 goals allowed.
Prior to joining the collegiate ranks, Lockhart worked at the club level with Vestavia Soccer Club and the Birmingham United Soccer Association, serving alongside McAlpine in Birmingham. He and McAlpine are both Alabama natives who have known each other since childhood.
With Birmingham United, he served as the girls’ director of coaching and ECNL head coach, winning multiple state championships and finishing third in the 2009 National Championship Series. In recent years, he has also been a member of the Region III ODP staff and 14-18 age group head coach.

Working primarily with the goalkeepers for her first two seasons, Georgia received its first NCAA Tournament bid since 2014 and hosted a home postseason match for the first time since 2007.
The Bulldogs tied a program record with 12 shutouts during the year, all while tallying the second-lowest goals against average rate in program history. Goalkeeper Jordan Brown assumed the starting role late in the season and tallied a program-record .872 save percentage, earning a spot on the SEC All-Tournament Team. Fellow keeper Liz Beardsley allowed the third-fewest goals in a season in program history and accumulated an 0.89 goals against average.
In her second season, she helped lead Georgia to a 13-4-6 record and No. 13 final national ranking, the highest in program history. During the season, Georgia won its first SEC East Division title, followed by the first SEC Tournament championship in school history, before reaching the Round of 16 for only the second time in program history. Brown was named to the SEC All-Tournament Team after tallying 22 saves over three matches, including seven in a 1-0 shutout of No. 10 Arkansas in the final. For the year, the Bulldogs posted eight shutouts with Brown notching a .767 save percentage.

JERE W. MOREHEAD
UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA PRESIDENT
President Jere W. Morehead began his tenure as the 22nd University of Georgia president on July 1, 2013. Under his leadership, UGA has risen in the rankings of the best public colleges and universities and has completed a series of initiatives to enhance student learning and success, including a requirement for experiential learning for all undergraduates.
Additionally during President Morehead’s tenure, the university completed the most successful capital campaign in its history and established the UGA Innovation District, through which students and faculty partner with industry leaders to create products and enterprises that strengthen Georgia’s economy. UGA has increased its research expenditures by more than 50% over the past decade and is ranked first in the nation for the number of research-based products reaching the marketplace.
In keeping with his focus on student success, President Morehead launched the ALL Georgia program to support students from rural areas and created the Double Dawgs program, which enables students to save time and money by earning an undergraduate and graduate degree in five years or less. Demand for a UGA education has more than doubled during the past decade, and the university’s enrollment reached an all-time high last fall.
President Morehead has served the University of Georgia for more than 35 years in both faculty and administrative roles. Before becoming president, he was senior vice president for academic affairs and provost from 2010 to 2013. Prior to 2010, he held several key administrative assignments, including vice president for instruction, vice provost for academic affairs, associate provost and director of the Honors Program, and acting executive director of Legal Affairs.
He is the Meigs Professor of Legal Studies in the Terry College of Business, where he has held a faculty appointment since 1986. He is a co-author of several books and book chapters, including The Legal and Regulatory Environment of Business, and he has published scholarly articles on legal topics ranging from export controls to jury selection. He has served as editor-in-chief of the American Business Law Journal.
President Morehead currently serves as co-chair of the University Leadership Forum, a national initiative led by the Council on Competitiveness. Additional service includes membership on the boards of the Georgia Research Alliance, Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education, Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, and Emory University Candler School of Theology. He also is a member of the National Football Foundation board of trustees.
He is the immediate past chair of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I board of directors. He previously served as president of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and chair of the SEC executive committee and as a member of the NCAA’s board of governors; presidential forum; working group on name, image, and likeness; and federal and state legislation working group.
In 2021, he received the Chief Executive Leadership Award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education District III for outstanding leadership and service in support of education. He has received several university-wide teaching awards, including the Josiah Meigs Award—UGA’s highest honor for teaching excellence, the Russell Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, the Teacher of the Year Award in the Terry College of Business, and the Lothar Tresp Outstanding Honors Professor Award. He also earned the UGA School of Law’s premier honor for alumni, the Distinguished Service Scroll Award. Following a nearly $12 million capital campaign, the University System of Georgia Board of Regents named the Honors College at the University of Georgia in his honor.
JOSH BROOKS
J. REID PARKER DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS
J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Josh Brooks, a finalist for Sports Business Journal’s Athletic Director of the Year in 2023, continues to lead the University of Georgia Athletic Association through historic success.
Georgia Athletics boasts remarkable accomplishments over the last three years, including a No. 7 final ranking in the 2023 LEARFIELD Directors Cup — Georgia’s highest mark in 18 years, a record-setting student-athlete GPA in each of the last two academic campaigns, unparalleled fundraising and over 15 capital projects that have been completed or are in progress.
Bulldog athletic teams have won three team national championships and a total of seven SEC crowns, while there have been 15 individual national champions.
The women’s soccer and volleyball teams have made the NCAA tournament in back-to-back years for the first-time ever. The baseball program advanced to a NCAA Super Regional for the first time since 2008 during Wes Johnson’s first season as head coach. Keidane McAlpine guided the soccer team to the 2023 SEC Championship, finishing with its highest ranking ever at No. 13 nationally.
In addition to back-to-back national titles in 2021 and 2022, Georgia’s football team boasts an incredible 39-0 regular season record during Brooks’ three-year tenure. They have also recorded three-straight 12-0 regular seasons – the first time in SEC lore a program has done so. The Bulldogs enter the 2024 campaign having won an SEC and school record 27-straight regular season conference games and riding a school record 25-game home win streak.
From academic and athletic success to historic fundraising and a multitude of facility projects, Brooks has continued to sustain Georgia’s standing as a national powerhouse. The Georgia Bulldog Club set new fundraising records in each of the last three years with $86.4 million raised in 2022, $102 million in 2023 and $113 million in 2024.
Brooks has overseen substantial facility upgrades that include the brand-new Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Tennis Courts, improvements to the south side of Sanford Stadium, a $45 million renovation to Foley Field, a $38 million upgrade to the Jack Turner Softball Stadium, a new $1.8 million men’s and women’s basketball weight room as well as expansive updates to Stegeman Coliseum and a renovation project in the Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall.
Georgia also built a new, state-of-the-art track and field locker room and recently announced plans to construct a one-of-a-kind track facility off South Milledge Avenue. This project will include the only indoor track and field venue in the state of Georgia and will allow the Bulldogs to host NCAA and SEC events as well as summer camps.
While facility upgrades have been at the forefront, Georgia’s emphasis on Name, Image, and Likeness has further enhanced its commitment to the student-athlete experience. Georgia Athletics was one of the first departments to announce a comprehensive NIL program, which provides wide-ranging education, multi-media management tools and brand-building training. The Bulldogs became one of the first schools to build an in-house NIL department with an Athlete Manager to help student-athletes navigate this space.
Under his guidance, Georgia re-branded the mental health and performance department, bringing in a new full-time director and an additional clinical counselor as well as adding sports psychology services for every team. A Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee was also established as Courtney Gay was hired to lead in the department’s DEI efforts.
A native of Hammond, La., Brooks’ vision of competing for championships and postseason success and his passion for student-athletes began well before his time as Athletic Director. Before returning to UGA in 2016 as Executive Associate Director of Athletics, Brooks served as Deputy Athletics Director at the University of Louisiana Monroe from 2015-16 and Director of Athletics at Millsaps College from 2014-15. He also served in capacities as Director of Football Operations (2008-11) and Assistant and Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations (2012-14) in his previous stint at UGA.
Brooks also served as director of football operations at the University of Louisiana-Monroe beginning in 2004. He gained experience as a student at Louisiana State University, working as an equipment manager and a student assistant coach. During his four years at LSU, the Tigers participated in the 2000 Peach Bowl, 2002 Sugar Bowl, and won the 2001 Southeastern Conference championship.
Brooks graduated from LSU (’02) with a degree in Kinesiology and completed his master’s degree in Sport Management from UGA (‘14). He and his wife, Lillie, have twin sons, Jackson and James, born in July of 2009 and a third son, Davis, born in March of 2012.
He and his wife Lillie have become a vital part of the Athens community. On January 20, 2021, just two weeks after becoming Athletic Director, Brooks pledged $100,000 to create a need-based scholarship to support UGA students from Athens-Clarke County. His gift created a Georgia Commitment Scholarship (GCS), adding to the more than 550 endowed, need-based scholarships created under the GCS program since its launch in January 2017.
