… A NEW TRADITION Mountain View Community,
Welcome to Mountain View Bear Football 2014! We are looking forward to a great season and providing our fans with a memorable “Friday Night” football experience. As a program, we want to use this great game of football to build into our young men the character traits necessary to be successful on and off the field. We want Mountain View Football to develop into a firstclass high school program that practices and produces excellence in everything we do. This season we expect great competition in Region 7-AAAAAA against some of the best teams in all of Georgia. We are excited for our young men on the JV and 9Th grade teams as they compete this fall, working hard to increase our success at these two levels of competition. We appreciate the enthusiasm of the Mountain View Cheerleading and Band programs as they add to the excitement of Friday nights. We are also excited to see the continued growth of the Mountain View Youth Association as we celebrate the third year of our new youth facility at Rabbit Hill Park. Thank you for your support of Mountain View Football. We are proud of the growth we’ve experienced over the past five years, knowing that without your ardent and generous support all that you see and hear tonight would not be possible. Mountain View is a great place to be during the week but because of you, the fans, there’s nothing like being a BEAR on a Friday Night! Thanks again for all your support as we look forward to a great season in 2014. Sincerely,
Doug Giacone Doug Giacone Head Football Coach

GEORGIA GRIDIRON GUIDE
Dear Bears Football Fan, We are excited to welcome you to the 2014 season of Mountain View Bears football. We want to wish Coach Giacone and his staff the best as our Bears compete in the incredibly tough Region 7 AAAAAA. We are all looking forward to this season with great anticipation. I would like to thank you for all of your hard work and support and congratulate you on a successful start of our football program, school, cluster and community. It has truly been a community effort. I invite you to support all of our student athletes and coaches during this exciting time of year as we come together as a community each Friday night for Bears football. We are looking forward to great success as our school and athletic programs continue to grow, mature and improve. Our Motto at Mountain View High School and in the entire cluster is “Expect Excellence in Everything.” This motto encompasses everything that we do inside the classroom and on the field of play to help our student athletes to be as successful as they possibly can, now and after they leave Mountain View High School. Superbowl quarterback, Doug Williams once said, “Never give up, never give in, and when the upper hand is ours, may we have the ability to handle the win with the dignity that we absorbed the loss.” I know that our student athletes will play and represent Mountain View in just that way. I encourage you to continue to support each one of the players, cheerleaders, band and auxiliary members, coaches and directors as they work toward their goals while representing Mountain View High School. In closing, I would like to again thank the parents, community members, coaches and teachers for your continued support of Mountain View and our Bears Football program. Your enthusiasm is overwhelming and I know the students appreciate your commitment. I would also like to wish the best to our players, cheerleaders, band members, coaches and directors this season.

GEORGIA GRIDIRON GUIDE
Dear Mountain View Fans, On behalf of the student athletes, coaches, cheerleaders, band members, and parents, it gives me great pleasure to welcome each of you to tonight’s game. Many hours of hard work and practice have gone into preparation for this game and others to be held throughout the football season. Each participant has given unselfishly of their time and talent to make this game an exciting, enjoyable, and safe activity for all who are present. I hope you will join them in this effort through your enthusiastic support of all teams, as well as sportsmanlike conduct. I would like to extend my sincere personal thanks and appreciation to those individuals and businesses who have given so much to provide our students with the best through their financial support and other assistance. Their efforts have gone a long way in helping Mountain View build a sense of community which will benefit our students for many years to come. It is my hope that our excellent facilities are matched by a positive display of sportsmanship and hospitality extended to our visitors. As each team enters the field of play, I hope that you will take a few moments to ask what you might do to enhance this opportunity for all who are involved. No matter how great or small, your efforts and positive support of these programs do make a difference for the students we serve. Thank you for attending and enjoy tonight’s ballgame. Sincerely,
Wayne Smith Wayne Smith Athletic Director

GEORGIA GRIDIRON GUIDE
Welcome to the sixth edition of the Mountain View Bears Football Media Guide. We use this publication to offer financial support for our football program and to celebrate our student participants. This publication is intended to bring pleasure and memories to your family for many years to come. If a name is misspelled or a picture is misidentified please forgive us in advance. As you flip through the pages of this book, please take the time to recognize everyone involved that makes the “Game Day” experience successful. We would like to thank the parents and families of all of our players for their investment of time to the team in helping make this a successful season. Through the selling of advertisements, manning the concession stands, working the “chain gang” and many other jobs, these volunteers work long hours to help build the program. The support of local businesses helps the booster club to financially meet the needs of the team. By participating in our Gold Card Discount Program, purchasing advertising in this book and by purchasing the banners located throughout the stadium, they give us the means to be competitive. Please take time to visit these merchants and thank them for their support. We would also like to thank our coaching staff that works hard not only during the football season, but year round to make this a successful team. This staff is comprised of men who have many years of experience in every level of football. Let’s show our support of this staff by encouraging our young men to listen and apply the lessons learned in every aspect of their life. Finally, we would like to congratulate our marching band, the cheerleaders and the young men playing the game before you every week. They have invested many hours of practice to hone their skills to strive to be the best they can be. Hopefully years from now, they will look upon this as one of the best times in their life. On behalf of the Mountain View Touchdown Club,
Eric Tupper Eric Tupper President 10

The only good thing about
CONCUSSIONS is that they can be
T R E AT E D . Knowing the facts could save your athlete’s life. Recognition and proper management of concussions when they first occur can prevent further injury or even death. Most athletes can safely return to play after a concussion, but must recover at their own rate. The Concussion Institute at Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth is the first facility of its kind in the Southeast, and its experts help athletes return to the field as quickly, and as safely, as possible. Congratulations Andre!! We didn’t know we were starting something early in your life that would become your life’s passion. We are proud of you! Love Mom, Dad, Jestin, & DJ
Vince Lombardi once said if you believe in yourself and have the courage, determination, dedication, competitive drive, willingness to sacrifice the little things and are willing to pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done. So far in your journey, you set the records on the field, you made the grades and test scores in the class room; along the way you showed the courage to make the tough decisions required to excel. We are so very proud of the young man you have become. Always remember Joshua 1:9. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go ...and don't ever stop working to make your dream a reality. Love, Dennis and Rebecca and your whole extended family!
