You work for a visual trend research agency that has been hired by an innovative fashion label, looking to expand their stores outside of London – and they are considering Nottingham as a potential new location. They are interested to know more about the street style scene in Nottingham, and its different style tribes.

Retail project For this task, a group of us had to investigate how 3 different products were marketed and promoted through cheap market, high street and luxury in Nottingham. The products we were given were Mens shoes, Mens jeans and Ladies dresses.
Project 1: Brand Moodboard As an individual, you will create one moodboard identifying any prevalent visual themes and cultural references associated with your brand. The Then and The Now relate to the past and the present when we examine a brand’s visual DNA and individual identity. You will research your individual brand and source relevant imagery that relates to the following: • the design equation of the brand’s handwriting • associated brand colours • motifs • icons • pattern and texture • materials and media • product • communication platform(s) • Images that convey the brand’s mood, and any lifestyle or cultural references that the brand associates itself with

Project 2: Maison Martin Margiela Presentation A Brand Analysis Show a concise understanding of the brand, it’s past and present cultural references. Visually summarise the brand, including images that convey the brand’s visual codes and messages (i.e. artistic or cultural references that inspire the brand etc.. alongside images of product and corporate brand identity. Define the design equation of the brand’s handwriting (their visual identity seen through graphics and imagery). Consideration should be given to the brand name, associated colours, motifs, icons, pattern and texture, materials and media, plus an analysis of how this is used through various contexts and communication channels. Brand Positioning, The position in the market. (Perceptual map + Brand Essence Model)., Competitors and Consumers Define the brands competitor set and consumer profile., Communication Touch-points communication channels and route to consumer.
New Concept Suggest a new concept in which your brand could expand – i.e. this could be a specific new product idea.
