The Polarity Paradox
POLARITY PARADOX
Retail
This polarity paradox retail tend allures you to explore the undressed way of life. Escaping excessive consumerism, and reeling in the world of primitive natural beauty, it is a total contrast to today’s fast paced, digital world. Creating a haven, which encourages you to rediscover your true self and appreciate the beauty surrounding us. Steeping out of routine, removing oneself from the technological reliant mind-set and challenging oneself to return back to a rudimentary lifestyle. This unprocessed extreme soothes senses and re-engages society’s connection with a natural approach to life, granting an eager release to our native place. The trend will move the organic way of living forward and value it from an artistic atheistically pleasing outlook. Embracing this sensory movement will allow you to appreciate how the lifestyle has been adapted, the ease of the current life we are accustomed to and value the digression as an escape from the real world.
The wisdom of the aged ingredients hosts a unique charm. Fleshy leathers and wrinkled birch wood, complimented by deep layers of velvety marble, stimulate a deep-rooted gratitude; all of which are usually over looked by technology. Hints of rusting metals, intertwined with the outside growing in, represents a rampant indigenous life, growing wildly amongst society. The combination of living amongst natural materials and pursuing a more organic lifestyle ignites a realisation that combines nature as a luxury. Providing a sense of belonging and fulfilling the extremes of the Polarity Paradox. Taking raw resources and nourishing them into things of use, worth, style and beauty satisfies an emotional need in a world where everything happens digitally.

UNPLUG ME
I’m unplugged for now, im free. This virtual situation can be poisoning, truly. I try not to let it capture me Its imagery, can be so damn pretty. So if sometimes you dont see me Know that its just temporary. I’ve unplugged every inch of me From the cell phone, net to HDTV I do not want to get stuck in, a trance treaty With the entertainment, industry. These subliminal messages are attacking me I just needed, a little time to breathe. To break this systematic energy, Bring me back to reality & focus on whats Really important to me.
All that glitters is enticing, indeed. But its perceived, to make one happy. A devised plan, through the enemy. These companys do not love you or me Its just a perception, of what they want You to believe. Electronic warfare control, is there gain To achieve. Hold on to whats tangible, in truth. Life is to fragile. Our mind is our armour, If only we , choose to use. So today I can say, im not mechanically free But im thankful, I took some time out TO UNPLUG ME....

The Flat Age Society

THE FLAT AGE SOCIETY
REtaiL
Replacing what was fear with curiosity; gone are the days of neutrals. Colour is on the rampage and is flourishing vividly. The Flat Age trend tribe have reassessed their priorities and placed living life brightly as number one. This fresh attitude towards life is influencing the retail industry. New experiences inspired through sabbatical journeys have inspired a new outlook. Moroccan, Turkish, Indian and African; some of the economically poorest counties are rich with colour. It keeps passion and moods alight and will do the same for the grey baby boomers. Colour stimulates the senses; imagine drinking the rainbow. Colour is the music to our ears, and the taste to our tongue, fragrant with fun.
The trend merges vivid colour clashing and fashioning imaginative patterns. Raspberry pink, turquoise blue, fern green and canary yellow combined in mosaics and adding a compliment to stained glass windows that stand ablaze with colour, meandering the light. Concocting an intrinsic reaction of a welcoming and exciting aura. The trend uses colours as words to radiate the different layers of ones identity and mood, decipherable in any language. Expressing this outlook in all outlets of life. The trend permits interiors to be explored allowing each clashing pattern and colour to be apart of a story summing an identity up. Taking a personality and framing it. It’s officially time to paint the town. “I found I could say things with colour and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way – things I had no words for” – Georgia O’Keeffe

i’M GoiNG to GRow oLd disGRacEfULLy;
I’m going to grow old disgracefully; Decisively, audaciously. Although I’ll have plenty of cats I won’t bother with silly hats; I’ll streak my hair green instead, Or maybe purple, blue or red. My clothes won’t be dowdy, I’ll dress quite loudly, Rainbow skirts; shimmering and bright, Silk camiknickers out of sight! I’m going to grow old disgracefully; Decisively, vivaciously, I’ll play on the swings in the park, Oh what fun, what a lark! Should the park-keeper give me lip, I’ll threaten him with my walking stick. Is it really such a sin, To unlock the child within? Though some folk would find it more fitting If I stayed at home sewing and knitting. I’m going to grow old disgracefully; Decisively, outrageously. I’ll attend protests for animal rights And other demonstrations common sense invites. Having protested I may get arrested And be locked in a cell for the night; Oh, what an adventure, what a delight! But in the face of public outrage, They’ll let me off because of my age!
I’m going to grow old disgracefully Decisively, ostentatiously. Rain or shine I’ll have fun it doesn’t matter about lack of sun. Around the lampposts I’ll be swinging In the rain I’ll be singing! I’ll twirl my brolly like a majorette I don’t care if I get wet! Even muddy Glastonbury appeals to me When I’ve found my rock-legend tee! I’m going to grow old disgracefully Although not distastefully. I won’t gamble or get drunk, I won’t chase after a toyboy hunk. I won’t be feckless nor will I be reckless Every day, every hour, I’ll embrace Though I’ll not fall from grace I’ll just be frivolous and free Growing old disgracefully! BY DARRYL ASHTON
