Overview My student diary is a phone application that is designed to help UK University students with their time management, organisation and finances. The inspiration for subject came from my love of planning and diary keeping. Many students can have problems with keeping track of things. Whether that be with money, deadlines, birthdays or knowing when rent is due. With these issues in mind, I wanted to find a way of helping students keep on track of things. When the app is first opened, the user must login. They can do this by creating a new account or use Facebook to sign in.
Home Page Each time the app is opened, the user will be greeted with their home page. Which is always the current date. From here the user can see what tasks and events they have for that current day. Birthdays will always be the first event shown on that day, with tasks and events showing up underneath. Tasks and events can be categorised and colour coded to fit the user.

Tasks & Events The app lists all the tasks and events the user has in one day. Tasks are thing that need doing in a day, but have no exact time in which they need to be completed. Events are things that happen in a day and usually at specific times. Tasks and events can be added by tapping on the plus icon in the top right of the screen. They can also be edited by tapping on the task or event.

Navigation To navigate from page to page, there is an easy to use menu bar. The user must simply tap on the menu button in the top left of the screen to reveal the menu. Simple icons let the user quickly navigate through the app, and the light grey icon let the user knows what page they are currently on.

APP SETTINGS
To move from day to day on the diary home page, the user simply needs to swipe left and right. They can also select a specific date using the calendar page. The user can add or edit any date at any time.
The Key The key is a big part of how the diary section of the app works. The key lets the user know what each of the statues symbols are, as well as, what colour the categories are. The user can easily open the key when they need a quick reminder, using the navigation bar. The categories on the key can also be edited and made to fit the user. To change the statues of a task or event, the user must tap on the coloured block until they have selected the one they want.
Icons I decided to create simple and easy to understand icons within the app. The icons are used to symbolise pages on the menu bar. They are also used to in the finance part of the app to help when categorising transitions.
Icons are also used as stickers and can be used to personalise the user’s diary pages. The sticker menu button can be found in the navigation bar. Once the button has been tapped the sticker menu will appear on the right side. Tap on a sticker and slide it to where you want it to be. Stickers can be used as a quick visual reminder or to just fancy it up a bit. CLOSE STICKER MENU

Calendar The calendar page shows an overview of the months. To move from month to month, simply swipe left and right. The user can select a specific date from this page, look at past dates or add to future dates. Birthdays will always show up under the calendars as well as any key events. The user can select a task or event to be a key event when adding or editing them. A light grey squiggle will show up on the calendars when there is a task or event on that day.

Finance Part of the app is to help keep track of finances. This is where the user can work out and see what their daily budget is. The user can simply put in what money is repeatedly going in and out. They can quickly add a transaction and use the categories to keep their spending organised. Categories are also a good way to find certain spending’s when looked at transactions. To see other days, the user simply swipes left and right.

Typefaces I chose two sans serif typefaces for this app, as they both paired well together. For the headings, I chose Industry Inc. While for the body text I chose, FS Aldrin. I wanted to keep the app gender neutral so finding the right fonts was important.
