THAILAND AS SOUTH-EAST ASIA’S HUB MOVING TOWARDS HIGH-TECH AND VALUE-ADDED MANUFACTURING

Thailand's manufacturing industry has undergone a significant transformation in recent years, with the incorporation of new technologies turning it into a highly sophisticated and globally competitive manufacturing powerhouse. This shift towards high-tech and valueadded manufacturing has been facilitated by Thailand's strategic location at the heart of South-East Asia, an abundance of natural resources and a highly-skilled workforce. As a result, Thailand has become a hub for manufacturing in the region, attracting investors seeking to create innovative products and services that require advanced manufacturing technologies, as well as sophisticated production and logistics services.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies have played a significant role in driving this transformation. The integration of big data, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), digital business models, automation, and robotics have created tremendous opportunities for a highly-skilled and knowledge-centric workforce to enhance manufacturing and production processes across industries. This trend towards smart technology and innovation can be seen across industries in Thailand, including the next-generation automotive, healthcare, advanced agriculture and biotechnology sectors.

Thailand's position as the second-largest economy in the ASEAN region after Indonesia places it in a good position, with high investments in machine tool-purchasing industries, such as electrical and mechanical engineering, motor vehicles and parts, and basic metals. In addition, Thailand is the largest automobile producer in the region after Indonesia, with a strong automotive and electronics market.

As smart technology continues to reshape the way businesses compete and operate, there are still significant untapped opportunities to apply additional advanced technologies, including the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI),and data analytics, to name a few. The future of manufacturing and production is growing more connected as factories shift from traditional operations and manual processes to lean manufacturing with highly integrated automation systems that deliver streamlined and cost-effective production. To stay at the forefront of these technological advancements, Thai companies and government agencies are turning their attention to the upcoming EMO Hannover 2023 trade fair.

EMO HANNOVER 2023 SUPPORTS THAILAND’S MOVE TOWARDS A CIRCULAR ECONOMY

EMO Hannover 2023 will take place during 18 - 23 September 2023 in Hannover, Germany. With more than 1,300 exhibitors from approximately 40 nations, including major supplier nations such as Thailand, Taiwan, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea, the fair provides an excellent opportunity to analyze and assess these developments, as well as to identify potential partners. By attending EMO Hannover 2023, Thai companies and government agencies can gain valuable insights into the latest technological trends and innovations in the manufacturing industry, and use this knowledge to further enhance their own production processes and capabilities.

EMO Hannover 2023 is particularly wellmatched for Thai policymakers, who are looking to support the country's move towards a circular economy, which aims to reduce waste and promote the sustainable use of resources. With a growing emphasis on skills development and talent management, Thai companies are also looking to attract and retain the best talent in an increasingly competitive marketplace. EMO Hannover 2023 offers an opportunity for Thai policymakers and industry leaders to exchange ideas, share best practices and explore new partnerships that can help to drive Thailand's industrial growth forward.

Thailand's manufacturing industry has come a long way, thanks to its strategic location, natural resources and highly-skilled workforce. The incorporation of new technologies has transformed it into a highly sophisticated and globally competitive manufacturing powerhouse. However, there are still significant untapped opportunities to apply additional advanced technologies to enhance manufacturing and production processes further. EMO Hannover 2023 provides an excellent platform for Thai companies, government agencies and policymakers to explore the latest cuttingedge technologies, share best practices and forge new partnerships that can help drive Thailand's industrial growth forward.

Insights-X 2023: Mass return of big brands

11-14 October 2021

Insights-X takes place from 11 to 14 October – and even at this early stage, its merits are being positively received. The new schedule has one particular feature – whereas the weekdays from Wednesday to Friday will, on the whole, be chiefly addressing buyers from larger multiple retailers across Europe, extending the opening to Saturday offers specialist retailers an additional day when they can visit the fair. “This innovation has resulted from our visitor and exhibitor survey. There, the importance of Saturday as a trading day within the German-speaking DACH region became clear and we have responded appropriately to this,” according to Christian Ulrich, spokesperson of the Executive Board at Spielwarenmesse eG.

For the first three days, the trade can take advantage of the entire pool of exhibitors. On what is being called the eXtra-Day, a central area will be available to them with well-known suppliers and campaigns. On the afternoon of Friday, 13 October, the Autumn Conference of the duo schreib & spiel association will take place at the exhibition centre itself, keeping the distances involved very short and ensuring that no valuable business time is lost in travelling between the events.

Many manufacturers and big brands have already registered for the eighth edition of Insights-X. They include major domestic and international players such as Ambar, Clairefontaine, Exacompta, Lässig, Stylex and Undercover. Faber-Castell will also be there again.

“Insights-X is the leading trade fair, making it a yardstick for the important seasonal school trade and a key communication platform,” emphasized Stefan Matschke, DACH Region Sales Director at Faber-Castell, noting the strength of the back-to-school sector. In addition, “for ourselves and the retail trade, Insights-X offers an opportunity to get into face-to-face discussions with the decisionmakers in the industry,” according to Klaus Fliegerbauer, Managing Director of Eberhard Faber Vertrieb.

The high quality in terms of both exhibitors and visitors will continue to play an important part in the fair. Its compact format, perfectly tailored to the needs of the sector, ensures that visits to exhibitors are quick and easy to arrange. “As well as having a relaxed and casual atmosphere, the fair is also of key importance to us as a brand,” says Andreas Stark, Director of Sales, Germany – Sales Manager eCommerce at STABILO, emphasizing the value of Insights-X. In addition, he mentioned a further pluspoint in relation to ordering: “October is the ideal time. In short, it is a date that should be there in everyone’s diary.” The event will be rounded off by a party on the Friday evening, organised by Spielwarenmesse eG together with the exhibitors for all participants at the trade fair.

AGRITECHNICA 2023

12-18 November 2023, Hannover

Agritechnica 2023, which will place 12-18 November 2023, in Hanover, Germany, already promises strong exhibitor participation from Germany and abroad. Following the stand booking deadline for the world's leading trade fair for agricultural machinery, the organizer DLG (German Agricultural Society) announced that 2,000 exhibitors from 49 countries have signed up. All leading agricultural machinery companies will be represented. High numbers of exhibitors have also been registered for the parallel exhibition, Systems & Components, the B2B marketplace for the international agricultural machinery supplier industry of the entire off-highway sector.

"Today, some nine months before the start of the exhibition, the number of registrations so far impressively reflects the outstanding position of Agritechnica for the international agricultural machinery sector and its suppliers," says Timo Zipf, project manager for Agritechnica. "As the world's largest trade fair in the industry, Agritechnica is not only the leading international business platform, but also a forum for the worldwide professional exchange of future-oriented crop production," he added.

"Green Productivity" is the guiding theme of Agritechnica 2023, focusing on the challenges of modern crop farming: how can agriculture increase productivity while protecting the soil, climate and environment? Agritechnica’s exhibition programme will be accompanied by a technical programme that offers live events, demo shows and a new series of ‘expert stages’ – a platform exploring topics such as smart spraying, smart and remote sensing, connectivity, autonomous farm equipment and alternative powertrain systems as well as how to achieve greater efficiency and resource conservation in the field through tyres, ballasting and assistance systems.

Agritechnica’s partner events are: Systems & Components, the B2B marketplace for the international supplier industry in the agricultural machinery and off-highway sector; and the "Inhouse Farming - Feed & Food Show", the new DLG platform for the agricultural and food systems of the future, with strong ties to farm practitioners.
