aurea
Aurea is Rogaška’s most extensive wine glass line, made for those who can appreciate the grape varietal’s characteristics. It also offers a great starting point for building your connoisseur wine glass collection. wine should ideally fill no more than one third of the available volume of the glass, so that it can be swirled without losing any liquid and that there is space for the precious aroma or bouquet to collect in the bowl. glasses for red wine are characterized by their rounder, bigger and wider bowl, which increases the rate of oxidation. as oxygen from the air chemically interacts with the wine, flavor and aroma are subtly altered and tasting experience is enhanced.
white wines, which are lighter and fresher, don’t need that much oxidation as it can mask the delicate nuances of the wine. therefore to preserve a crisp, clean flavor, many white wine glasses will have a smaller mouth. the champagne flute is designed to be tall and thin to highlight the fine bouquet and richness on the palate. it also keeps the bubbles in the flute longer - with less surface area exposed to the air, the bubbles can’t escape as quickly. all stem glasses are designed to be held by the stem to help prevent the heat from the hand from warming the liquid inside. stem also facilitates the swirling of the wine. some sommeliers even recommend swirling the wine in counter-clockwise direction only.

aurea
28 cm red wine is the broadest and tallest glass in this line to accumulate aromas of more delicate red wines such as pinot noir and burgundy.
24 cm red wine glass is slightly smaller with a broad bowl, designed for full bodied red wines like cabernet sauvignon, bordeaux, merlot and shiraz. a “standard” red wine glass.
27 cm white wine glass is considered the “standard” white wine glass, great for chardonnay, chablis and also for rose. cup is considerably narrower than red wine glasses.
24 cm white wine glass is a bit shorter and with a smaller bowl than chardonnay, designed to bring out the acidity in wines like sauvignon blanc or pinot grigio.
small wine glass is ideal for sweet and fortified wines, such as sherry and port, while some also use it for layered shooters. for very strong aperitifs and liqueurs we recommend an even smaller cordial glass.
glasses are made of the topmost transparent crystalline glass virtually without any lead content. they are 30% lighter than crystal glasses while also harder than crystal and consequently don’t scratch so easily.

still confused what glass to buy? buy the varietal specific glass of the wine you enjoy the most and built your collection from there. if you love pinot noir, buy a pinot noir glass, for example, and it will work just fine also with other types of red wines. white wines call for additional type of glass.
proper serving and aeration of wine is not limited to glasses only, so make sure to also check out the extensive range of aurea decanters.
