Bio

I am an architect from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, with Master degree in architecture from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. I am 32 years old and I am currently living in Medellín, Colombia. I have ten years of professional experience, exercising in the fields of urban, landscape and public space design, research, planning, representation, spatial analysis and construction supervision. I have worked in multiple areas of Architecture, Urbanism and Research, with capacity for leadership, learning and assertiveness, as well as great commitment in the development of the projects. I have special interest in landscape, urban and public space research and design, also I can contribute significant knowledge in terms of regulations, technique, construction, strategies and representation related to those areas.

The dissertation addresses a specific topic: modern high-rise buildings in the downtown Medellín. Using six projects located on the historic and transcendental La Playa avenue as a reference, it seeks to reflect on modern architecture, as well as verticalization through the study of some of the most recognized buildings resulting from this process.

THE HIGH-RISE BUILDING IN THE DOWNTOWN OF MEDELLÍN Verticalization and modernity of La Playa avenue

PARLANT FAÇADES Architectural appreciation of Ayacucho street related sectors.

The research project was based on the evaluation of the stylistic and formal components of the buildings of a traditional sector of the city through the analysis of its facades. The main purpose was the rescue and conservation of the architectural memory to the city as a testimony of various architectural moments.

Profesional experience and portfolio FIVE URBAN ACUPUNTURE INTERVENTIONS

The project was the result of the national architecture competition convened to present “quick, economical and social inclusive” intervention proposals with an adequate reading of the territories. There were five parks in total, in which topics of participation, accessibility, stay and play were the main objective. Through a “catalogue of actions” certain activities were prioritized according to the needs and opportunities present in each park. INFLEXION MEMORIAL PARK

Medellín, Colombia

Inflexión Memorial Park is a public space that is located on the lot of the old Mónaco Building, a symbol of pain and violence. The park is located in the Santa María de los Ángeles neighborhood, Poblado sector. On its surface, 4 geometric breaks forcefully burst the urban layout and break into it as an INFLEXION, a space that is given to the city as a MEMORIAL PARK. The architectural proposal generates through a landmark on the surface, and three great moments: essence, inflexión and resilience. RUMIPAMBA AMBIENTAL PARK

Pasto, Colombia

The park is situated in the historic centre of Pasto, in the south of Colombia. The proposal was inscribed in three main principles: sustainability from the environmental point of view; promotion from the cultural and tourist; and urban articulation from its relations of public space and heritage. The main idea was ​​to create a natural oasis in the middle of the already consolidated urban fabric of the historic center of Pasto, including elements that evoke history, promote the stay and the exercise of civic and cultural activity. LA PLAYA WALK AVENUE

Team architect - EDU Empresa de Desarrollo Urbano Medellín, Colombia Feb. 2018 / Dec. 2018 The renovation of La Playa Avenue as an urban walk was one of the projects included in the Medellin Center Intervention macroplan. The intervention was based on the strategy of inverting the mobility pyramid, prioritizing pedestrians and bicycles and increasing the green areas for sustentability. New living and study areas were implemented, as well as the planting of gardens and new trees, which improved habitability and the path of passers-by.

CIUDAD DEL RÍO CULTURAL CENTER Medellín, Colombia

The project is located on a flat lot belonging to the Simesa urban regeneration plan. It houses spaces for presentations, teaching and archive. This cultural center includes specialized spaces and a complete cultural program dedicated to the audiovisual, music and dance scene of the city.

MOSQUERIN HOUSE

Copacaba, Colombia

The project opens onto the landscape through two white volumes that stand out within the natural green of the mountain. In the center, the pool is inserted as a nucleus of family and social activity, which is divided into two volumes articulated by a rear corridor.

C44 APARTMENT BUILDING Caldas, Colombia

The project (not built) is made up of two volumes that are connected by a central fixed point and bridge-like walkways. The various configurations of the openings and balconies on the facade modify the interior space, it is the search for constant individualization, with an apparent contradiction and diversity.

Public equipment dedicated to the training and qualification of teachers. Located on a working parking lot, five volumes are distributed according to the program. The visuals and the interior needs solve the facades of the building.

This traditional place of nocturnal activity, proposes the expansion of trails, the connection and ease of inclusive movement and the incentive to stay in the place. The project combines the re-programming of activities, quality in the materialization of public space and diversification in the landscape as a method in urban design.
