“SUE” ROARS INTO RENO By Patrick Turner

Big things happen in Reno all the time, but none as big as this! A T. rex Named Sue, the blockbuster exhibition from The Field Museum in Chicago is now on exhibit at The Discovery in downtown Reno. The centerpiece of the exhibition is a life-size cast of Sue, the largest, most complete, and best-preserved Tyrannosaurus rex ever discovered. From nose to tail, Sue is 42 feet long, and she’s 12 feet high at the hips. “Sue is the Rosetta Stone for its species,” says Bill Simpson, head of collections for The Field Museum in Chicago, and one of the principal people who helped create the Sue exhibit. “It is the most famous fossil in the world.”

12 getaway reno/tahoe • planmygetaway.com

Sue is recognized as the best-preserved T. rex ever discovered. Only four T. rex specimens containing more than 60 percent of their original skeleton have ever been found. Sue is 90 percent complete — only a foot, one arm, and a few ribs and vertebrae are missing. The specimen was found in the Hell Creek Formation, near Faith, South Dakota, by fossil hunter Sue Hendrickson. In 1997, The Field Museum purchased the 65-million-year-old fossil at auction for $8.4 million, setting the record for the world’s highest price ever paid for a fossil. The exhibition also features a multitude of digital and hands-on exhibits that allow museum visitors to explore Sue’s past and the field of paleontology. A T. rex Named Sue will be on exhibit at The Discovery through May 13, 2018. The exhibition was created by the Field Museum, Chicago, and made possible through the generosity of McDonald’s Corporation. Major support for the exhibition at The Discovery is provided by The Charles N. Mathewson CLAT Number One, The Charles N. Mathewson CLAT Number Two, The Bretzlaff Foundation, the Clarence & Martha Jones Family Foundation, Charles and Margaret Burback, David and Judy Hess, and Matt and Lydia Meyer. Admission to The Discovery is $12 for adults, and $10 for children age 1-17 and seniors (65+). Admission on Wednesdays after 4 p.m. is just $5 per person, and the museum is open until 8 p.m. To learn more about Sue and the exhibition at The Discovery, visit nvdm.org/sue

Photographers face significant challenges on their journey capturing that perfect shot. There is so much involved in the process: lighting, timing, talent cooperation, logistical details and equipment efficiency are all essential aspects that need to align correctly. When you’re out in the elements, and on a tight schedule, the stakes get even higher. But hard work pays off and the result is extra rewarding because you’re essentially defying the odds, and providing the rest of us with evidence that this amazing moment happened. Corey Rich is a well-known published adventure photographer, but you don’t need to see his resume to know that he has a knack for capturing content. His photo transcends so much motion, and I love that the perspective makes you feel like you’re there watching it happen! He currently operates Corey Rich Productions and is part owner of Novus Select, a production company based in South Lake Tahoe. coreyrichproductions.com For the last 15 years, Matt Morning has traveled the world taking absolutely stunning photographs. The balance of color in his work truly captures a skier’s dream and the essence of Lake Tahoe with beautiful bluebird skies and fresh tracks in

front of you. Matt is based in the Reno/Tahoe region and is a director for a creative production company. avian-films.com Dan Wallisch captures Carson Valley from the slopes of Heavenly Mountain Resort, which is known for having some of the most iconic viewpoints in Lake Tahoe. I really like this image, not only because it’s an epic action shot, but it also highlights a backdrop that doesn’t get as much coverage as views of the lake. Dan is an award-winning photographer specializing in skiing tours, advertising campaigns and workshops. His striking style shines through his work and his passion behind the lens is apparent. danwallisch.com One of the best parts of being a winter-action photographer is having more than one of your passions collide and also experiencing the sport alongside the talent. These are the images that drive tourism and showcase incredible moments. Viewers have the opportunity to get a glimpse of these exceptional treks, and genuinely see through the eyes of the photographer. Life presents us with many challenges and these pictures truly tell a story of the hard work, dedication, talent, and the raw beauty of nature. So kick back and enjoy the view! getaway reno/tahoe • planmygetaway.com 15

A NEW ERA OF LUXURY FOR LAKE TAHOE At Edgewood Tahoe, we've crafted new beginnings amongst a storied setting. Where loungers and roamers alike are met with personalized service, unprecedented stewardship, and unparalleled amenities. Edgewood Tahoe is more than award-winning restaurants, more than an acclaimed golf course, more than a serene spa. It is a setting for inspiration, a catalyst for adventure, a world-class destination to discover and enjoy. EdgewoodTahoe.com | 775-588-2787 | 100 Lake Pkwy. | Lake Tahoe, NV

HANG WITH HEROES Between Jan. 20 - April 15, the Wilbur D. May Museum will host the interactive Hall of Heroes exhibit, where you don’t need to hop into a phone booth to get up close to some of your favorite superheroes. Not limited to just the masked or caped few, you can also explore spies, crime fighters and the gadgets they use, along with movie props, memorabilia, rare artifacts and dozens of stations that will help you find your inner superpower. washoecounty.us

HEAD UPWARD

Climbers know cooler weather brings optimal conditions. Your hands don’t get as slippery while trying to grip as they would in the warmer months. Whether you tackle the indoor boulders or the world’s tallest climbing wall outdoors, it’s the perfect season to challenge yourself and head upward at Basecamp at Whitney Peak Hotel in downtown Reno. whitneypeakhotel.com

SNOW JOURNEY

If you’ve ever wanted to speed across the snow, but prefer the comfort of a large, motorized contraption under you, check out Zephyr Cove Snowmobiling. A two-hour tour takes one or two riders per vehicle to nearly 9,000 feet for breathtaking Tahoe views. Enjoy meandering through snow-tipped trees and meadows blanketed by Mother Nature. zephyrcove.com

Care for your body and spirit

BOWLING EURO-STYLE

You don’t get to wear those fashionable shoes, but a popular European form of bowling has finally made its way to Reno. Enter Bundox Bocce at the Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel. Believed to have been invented by the Italians before permeating the rest of Europe, bocce ball is a fun, simple sport everyone should try. Bundox makes it easy, and adds many other elements to the all-ages playground like skee ball, shuffleboard, ping pong, big screen TVs and a full bar. bundoxbocce.com

WINTER CRUISING

Tahoe sunsets are often epic. Catching one from the middle of the lake, surrounded by snowcapped peaks while on the M.S. Dixie II paddle wheeler sunset dinner cruise elevates the experience exponentially. Cruise to Emerald Bay from Zephyr Cove on Saturday evenings while sipping signature cocktails and enjoying local cuisine accompanied by scenic vistas and live music. zephyrcove.com

ART FIX

Alongside many other intriguing displays, the Nevada Museum of Art has two featured exhibitions this winter, both launching in February. Marking the Infinite features works by some of Australia’s top female Aboriginal artists making their American debut. Paintings by Nevada artist Hans Meyer-Kassel, many once hung in castles and presidential homes, grace the walls of the NMA through summer. nevadaart.org

MARSHMALLOW MOMENTS

Take your s’mores seriously. At the RitzCarlton, Lake Tahoe, cozy up by the fire pit for the nightly Marshmology program starting at 4:30 p.m. Refine your knowledge of the familiar item frequently found floating atop your cocoa, or wedged between chocolate and graham crackers. Complimentary s’mores with themed marshmallows accompany lessons on the history and ingredients in your favorite squishy, sweet treat. ritzcarlton.com

WHIRLING ‘ROUND THE RINK

After munching on marshmallows, head down the hill to the Village at Northstar’s 9,000-square-foot ice skating rink. Twinkling lights surround you while gliding across the ice, as do fire pits, shops and eateries. With a cocoa or cocktail in-hand, you may never want to leave this winter wonderland. northstarcalifornia.com

VISTAS FOR MILES

You don’t need to ski or snowboard to catch monumental vistas from the mountaintop. Starting at Heavenly Village, take the Heavenly Lake Tahoe scenic gondola ride more than two miles straight up the hill. Catch your breath as you begin to rise, and expect your eyes, and camera lenses, to be glued to the panoramic views encompassing you. Another exhilarating way to get down the hills at Heavenly Lake Tahoe is their 500-foot-long tubing hill. Located at the top of the gondola, course down the hill on a large, inflatable tube, then let the magic carpet take you and your tube back up for another round. skiheavenly.com

GO FAST

Ripping around the track at Need 2 Speed in Reno may leave a smile on your face the rest of the day. Their electric indoor race karts can reach speeds of up to 45 MPH as they complete laps around the track. Wearing closed-toe shoes is a must, but they’ll provide helmets and fast machines to get your adrenaline pumping seven days a week. need2speed.com

There are so many activities to keep the cold days of winter filled with fun, you can even enjoy the fluffy white stuff and no skis and snowboards are necessary!

WEEKEND WARRIOR ADVENTURES

22 getaway reno/tahoe • planmygetaway.com

The urban dictionary defines a weekend warrior as, “a person who holds a regular job during the week which restricts their ability to partake in awesome activities, and thus plans epic weekend adventures to compensate.” If you can relate, here are my not-socommon activities to check off your travel bucket list. The Fattie Phenomenon :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Who says you can’t go mountain biking on the snow? Fat biking (a.k.a snow biking) is the newest cycling sport to hit the winter trails in the region. These mountain bikes with oversized tires help you float over ice, snow and everything in between while keeping optimum traction. On Tahoe’s south side, rent from South Shore Bikes or Sports Ltd. and cruise down the Lam Watah Trail Head (locals know it as Khale Path) passing open meadows and looping around Nevada Beach. On Tahoe’s north side, when conditions are superb, a daily ticket at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Ski Area gives you access to miles of groomed trails. Or leave it to the experts and take a guided fat biking tour with Tahoe Jack’s Adventure Authority where all gear is provided, just bring yourself. Happy riding! southshorebikeandsnow.com; tahoesportsltd. com; tahoedonner.com; tahoejack.com A Stones Throw Away :::::::::::::::::::::::: The XXIII Winter Olympic Games are coming up and now’s your chance to learn a sport sweeping the ice rinks, curling. Even adrenaline junkies will get a rush when their stone (that round thing with a handle) slides into the button (that red bulls eye looking mark). Every month during the winter season, Lake Tahoe Epic Curling located at the Tahoe Ice Arena gives you the chance to participate in this unusual, exciting experience during their Learn to Curl Sessions. Just show up with warm clothes and sneakers, they have the rest. And don’t be fooled, I promise your heart rate will rise as you intensely sweep across an entire ice skating rink. Plus, the odds are in your favor to meet a former Olympian at these sessions. laketahoecurling.com

Life’s a Catch ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Did you know that Lake Tahoe doesn’t freeze in the wintertime and there are approximately 300 days of sunshine each year! This is the perfect combination to get out on the lake with Tahoe Sport Fishing Co. Just bring yourself and friends (I always bring baileys and mimosa ingredients aboard), they supply everything else. You can expect Instagram-worthy photos of snowcapped mountains reflecting on Big Blue as your captain cruises out to hidden coves filled with those secret fishing spots. What's new this winter M O N U M E N TA L A RT The City of Reno is becoming a work of art. Muralists from around the world left their creative mark on the Biggest Little City during the Reno Mural Expo. Thirty-one new vacant walls and alleyways have turned into an outdoor art gallery, ready to explore. Art Spot Reno has great interactive online maps pinpointing these creative finds, but I opted for the docent-led tour held every second Saturday for only $10 per person. While gallivanting around the city streets, keep your eyes open for playa art — monumental art installations on display from the iconic annual Burning Man event. More than a dozen pieces can be found in the once dusty mix, the newest addition is the Space Whale, with life-size stained-glass mother and calf humpback whales. The views of this piece at night are breathtaking, as the glass creates a kaleidoscope of colors. Just neighboring this is the 12-feet-high, 70-feet-wide Believe word series, making this the perfect photo op for you and your art-inspired friends. artspotreno.com

Playing with your food makes any dining experience much more exciting. Tahoe Hot Pot is a do-ityourself Thai fusion soup restaurant on Tahoe’s south shore, perfect to nip that winter chill. My friends and I made it a fun communal experience. The welcoming environment with an easy-to-do menu is perfect for beginners. With built in burners on the table, choose your broth, choose your ingredients and cook away. My favorite broth is miso because it really pairs well with everything. The fresh seafood platter was delicious and is easy to share with two, likely with some leftovers to take with you. Leave room for their homemade Thai desserts. Get ready for a bowl full of laughs and yummy home cooked soup, a dining adventure that can’t be missed. Just down the street, The Sage Room inside Harvey’s Lake Tahoe is firing things up, literally right in front of you. Celebrating 70 years of fine dining, they’ve created a special prix fixe anniversary menu featuring their signature table-side preparations. My favorites include the steak Diane, filet mignon flambeed in an aromatic brandy sauce. For dessert, order the cherries jubilee, a caramelized mixture poured over vanilla bean ice cream. To finish, go for the classic café diablo for the most entertaining show sparked with fire and sizzles. Also in the line-up for new locations to try 30 getaway reno/tahoe • planmygetaway.com

Kombucha is a sweetened and fermented green or black tea that is usually flavored with fruity or floral notes. Because it’s fermented, many versions often do contain low amounts of alcohol. this heat in cheese form, which while admittedly making the infamous pepper more palatable also makes it more delicious. The Hot Hand is a ½-pound blackened burger, covered with ghost pepper cheese and deep fried jalapenos. We’re sweatin’ just thinking about it. Ghost pepper cheese also makes an appearance on a chicken sandwich and sliders. luckybeaver.com Feeling indecisive or just REALLY hungry? Go ahead and take the Menu Burger Challenge at Fox and Hound Smokehouse Grill & Bar. Yes, it basically comes with everything on the menu. That’s one burger piled high with bacon, cheese, barbecue pulled pork, a couple fried eggs, chili cheese garlic fries, Philly cheesesteak, teriyaki chicken with pineapple and jalapenos … and a bun. It also comes with a side of six hot wings and a “healthy side salad.” And there’s a pizza thrown in there somewhere. It’s so enormous that if you can eat the whole thing in under 60 minutes, then it’s free, plus you get a T-shirt and your picture on their website. foxandhoundtahoe.com If one food challenge is not enough, Chimayo just launched The Fat John Cusack Taco Challenge. If you can eat one of each of

their 20 tacos in under an hour, then you will receive (you guessed it) a free T-shirt, half off the meal, and social media fame. Be prepared for a wide variety of flavors. Taco ingredients include: Wagyu ground beef, chipotle, spicy pickles, seared blacked tuna, seaweed salad, guajillo mayo, cactus, corned beef brisket, sauerkraut, smoked salmon, roe, pickled onions, and lobster, just to name a few. chimayotahoe.com

Reno Sometimes a good food adventure means stepping out of one’s own cultural bubble. Reno offers a diverse assortment of ethnic cuisines to challenge your taste buds. The Biggest Little City is home to one of the largest populations of Basque Americans in the U.S., so it’s an excellent place to try traditional sweetbreads. Of course, you don’t want to confuse sweetbreads with something like bread pudding or a donut. “Sweetbreads” is the delightful, though discreet, term for thymus or pancreas glands, typically from lamb or veal, served in myriad of ways. At Louis’ Basque Corner, you can have your sweetbreads either sauteed with garlic, peppers, mushrooms and onions or prepared in a red wine and mushroom sauce. They will soon be a new favorite. louisbasquecorner.com Traditional Chinese food tends to be one of the greatest challenges to the typical American palate. If you’ve only ever tried orange chicken or Kung Pao beef, then it’s

What’s life as a foodie without a little adventure? pretty safe to say you’ve never really had Chinese food. China East is a little hole in the wall that offers some of the more unusual Chinese dishes, in addition to the familiar ones, on this continent anyway. Pig intestine is one option. No euphemisms here. And those can be prepared sauteed or fried to your liking. You can also try sea cucumber (not a clever name for a pickle) with a side of abalone. Or try one of the most enjoyed delicacies in China, preserved duck egg, also known as “century eggs.” These are eggs that have been cured for weeks to several months in a mixture of clay, ash, salt, quicklime, and rice hulls, turning the yolks a deep, translucent green. This gives a whole new meaning to the Dr. Seuss classic. renochinaeast.com What’s life as a foodie without a little adventure? We hope to have expanded your horizon into new culinary territory. But don’t take our word for it. Have yourself a dining adventure here in Reno/Tahoe. Good luck!

J U S T SAY, “I LOVE CREPES!” If you’re a Will Ferrel fan, then you’ll remember that scene when Ricky Bobby from Talladega Nights admits that he, too, loves “those really thin pancakes.” This was a funny tangent to my conversation with Clint Machamer, owner of Creative Crepes, Tahoe’s newest foodie favorite near Heavenly Village. These treats have bold flavors from savory to sweet, with breakfast options, too. Plus, it’s an entertaining experience as you watch the creations “fold” in front of you. Clint spent much of his adult life in Breckenridge, Colo., where he cooked at many types of restaurants. It wasn’t until he experienced the interaction of cooking while customers watched, that he fell in love with this passion. “It’s a fun technique and you’re not just creating food, you’re creating an experience,” says Clint. It was at this moment when he decided to venture out on his own. After mixing ingredients to invent a personalized crepe batter and numerous family taste tests, he finally perfected a unique recipe to go with both savory and sweet flavors. “I wanted something that would complement every ingredient on my menu.” Starting with a farmers market stand and then growing into a mobile Airstream, he couldn’t keep up with the demand. “This was bigger than I originally thought, and customer feedback was tremendous, so I pushed further.” Finding solace in the mountains, he called every ski resort across the nation to find

the perfect business location. The stars aligned and with just a U-Haul and no place to live yet, he relocated to South Lake Tahoe. Almost a year later, business is booming and Clint is enjoying life with his new bride, Chase, in their recently purchased home. As far as for the crepes, personally, I’ve tried almost every flavor on the menu and then some, as you can create your own custom crepe. My favorites include the pesto turkey and Monte Cristo all made with premium Boar’s Head meats. For the sweet tooth, the strawberry shortcake with extra Nutella and Chantilly cream (homemade whipped cream icing) is my go to. From the list of fresh ingredients, to handmade batter and sauces, plus the causal vibe, this place is a delicious find when visiting the area. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention they have bottomless mimosas on Sundays and a great selection of beers and wine for the happiest of hours from 3 to 6 p.m. every day of the week. Need I say more, except … Yes, I love crepes. Creative Crepes 4118 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe, CA (530) 600-3700

Listen. Be Kind. Have Fun. High Five! By Kylie Rowe

Roy Tuscany lives by a five-word mantra: Listen. Be Kind. Have Fun. He makes a huge difference in the lives of fellow Reno/Tahoe athletes who would have had no hope otherwise. At any given time, you might pass many of these superstars trekking down the slopes thanks to Roy’s non-profit making sure they stay healthy on the mountain.

I

n 2006, the aspiring pro skier awoke to blood everywhere with the painful sensation that his legs went through his body. He lay in the snow alone waiting for the call to ski patrol that saved his life. On a “fun run,” Roy had just launched himself 130 feet into the air on a 100-foot jump. Roy instantly fractured his t-12 vertebrae into his spine, paralyzing himself below the waist. Originally from Vermont and living in the Tahoe community, Roy had friends and fans all over the country that rallied together and created a fund to support his recovery. The Sugar Bowl Academy set up Roy’s recovery fund — raising $85,000. He faced many medical complications and was in an out of a wheelchair. After two years of grueling rehabilitation, he could walk unassisted. Roy says his walk is not pretty but after hearing his story, I thought it was absolutely beautiful. This sheer goodness of humans inspired Roy to establish the High Fives Foundation. The organization supports the dreams of outdoor enthusiasts through injury prevention awareness; it provides resources and inspiration to those suffering life-altering injuries.

56 getaway reno/tahoe • planmygetaway.com

Since 2009, the High Fives Foundation has supported 167 athletes. High Fives reviews an application and pays for medical bill invoices up to $25,000 when insurance won’t cover. Roy says, “We specialize in human care by providing a care plan of success for individuals that suffer life altering injuries.” They are a goal-setting foundation. When individuals receive grants, they are required to declare five goals that the foundation measures along way. In one case, Grant Korgan of Reno, was supported by High Fives to reach his goal to become the first adaptive athlete to ski in the South Pole. The mission was accomplished on the 100-year anniversary of the first surviving explorer of the South Pole. KC Deane is a local pro skier who suffered a C-2 vertebrae break in 2010 while filming in the Lake Tahoe backcountry. High Fives supplied the financial means for physical therapy enabling him to return to a professional level. There are so many inspiring stories where local athletes have overcome debilitating obstacles thanks to the support from High Fives.

CLEARING GATES

Despite his setback, Roy continually accomplishes more through the growth of his team and the stakeholders of High Five. With six full-time and three part-time employees, two full-time trainers, 16 board members and 15 on the advisory board, High Five expanded its scope. They started making grants for ski and snowboarders, then expanded their focus to include mountain action sports, and in 2018 they will begin to offer support to athletes affected by life altering injuries in all outdoor sports.

Need to fuel those adventures? You’ll love the Sorensen’s Country Café. Serving three delicious meals a day, my favorite item on the menu is their signature beef burgundy stew complemented with a glass of red from their stock of fine wines. On your way out, pick up some memorabilia at their quaint gift shop to remember your already memorable time here.

Whether it’s enjoying crosscountry skiing across the Hope Valley meadows or watching snowflakes blanket freshly drawn snowshoe tracks as we explore 165 acres of forested backcountry in the Sierra, Sorensen’s Resort is my chance to take in all the natural distractions. This is where locals go to unplug and unwind from the hustle and bustle of life.

When you’re ready to plan your visit, check real-time weather conditions on their website. occasionally shoots from the hip. Care to knock one back?

Adventures aren't always measured by apps and gadgets. Sometimes they arrive in a glass served by a salty barkeep and raised in the company of folks who know better than to order a Malbec. Welcome to the oldest, quirkiest, most memorable saloon you'll ever set foot in, the ideal venue for embellishing a day of exploits in the great outdoors. At Edgewood Tahoe, we've crafted new beginnings amongst a storied setting. Where daydreamers unwind in sand while adventurer-seekers explore the Sierras. And where both—loungers and roamers alike—are met with personalized service, unprecedented stewardship, and unparalleled accommodations. Edgewood Tahoe is more than an alpine Lodge, more than an acclaimed golf course, more than a serene spa. It is a setting for inspiration, a catalyst for adventure, a world-class destination to discover and enjoy. Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, designed by George Fazio in 1968 and later renovated by Tom Fazio, offers the premier setting of a championship caliber golf experience in the High Sierra. The course offers a choice of four sets of tees ranging between 5,343 - 7,529 yards. The Golf Course has been consistently selected by Golf Digest as one of “America's 100 Greatest Public Courses,” and has attracted some of golf’s greatest players, including Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, Phil Mickelson, John Daly, and Lee Trevino. Edgewood has played host to the USGA's 1980 US Public Links Championship and 1985 US Senior Open Championship, and has been the home to the annual American Century Celebrity Golf Championship since 1991. The Tahoe golf season is typically from May to October. View more at EdgewoodTahoe.com/Golf or visit the Golf Shop inside the Clubhouse (open seasonally). Nestled in a private, yet expansive area on the second floor of the Lodge is The Spa at Edgewood Tahoe—an inviting 8,500 sq. ft. space that offers guest uninterrupted serenity amongst a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. With a stunning streamlined design aesthetic influenced by the innate beauty of the area's natural surroundings, the Spa inspires in its guest relaxation, rejuvenation, and unmistakable inner balance. The Spa proudly uses and offers for purchase Eminence Organics, Naturopathica, and Aveda products. These brands utilize only the finest organic ingredients and are sourced from sustainable or renewable origins. View more at EdgewoodTahoe.com/Spa or visit the Spa on the second floor of the Lodge. Edgewood Restaurant is South Lake Tahoe's greatest hidden gem. With stunning floor-to-ceiling windows and an elegant lodge aesthetic, diners enjoy striking views of mountains, pines, and the glistening sapphire lake while celebrating golden anniversaries and creating diamond memories. Fresh cuisine is prepared daily and matched with a carefully selected and diverse wine list, creating a dining experience that's nothing short of noteworthy. Be sure to reserve a table just before dark to secure a front row seat to the best show Tahoe has to offer—the vibrant Sierra sunset. View more at EdgewoodTahoe.com/Restaurant or visit the Restaurant inside the Clubhouse.

Conveniently located inside the Lodge is the Bistro, a full-service space open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Bistro serves as Edgewood's refined, yet casual, dining option for families, friends, and foodies alike. Boasting warm woods and streamlined design details, Bistro offers guests an aesthetic both mountain-chic and urban-contemporary, creating a striking setting for diners to enjoy the freshest seasonal fare in both indoor and outdoor tables. If you’re looking for a place to relax after a long day of fun, enjoy a signature cocktail or glass of wine from the Bistro Bar near an inviting fireplace in the lounge or on the patio. View more at EdgewoodTahoe.com/Bistro or visit the Bistro on the first floor of the Lodge.

Honored by Golf Digest as one of the "Best Golf Pubs" in the world, Brooks' Bar and Deck is home to a setting both striking and serene. Located just off of Edgewood's picturesque 18th hole, Brooks' offers golfers and guests stunning views of all the magic the Sierras have to offer—from sunsets saturated in striking gem tones to the glassy blue waters of the mesmerizing Alpine lake. Designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, Brooks' boasts a sprawling deck, vaulted wood-beam ceilings, and walls of long-paned glass windows—creating a warm space and welcome for families and friends to enjoy refined comfort food and to imbibe in signature cocktails and craft beers. View more at EdgewoodTahoe.com/Brooks or visit Brooks’ inside the Clubhouse.

Camp Edgewood is an unparalleled playcare experience dedicated to nurturing each child’s imagination and love of nature. Whether the little ones are brand-new explorers or seasoned adventurers, Camp Edgewood is the perfect option for parents who want their young travelers to embark on meaningful, inspiring, unforgettable play—all in a setting as scenic as they come. Camp Edgewood is an organized program for school aged children to twelve years old with focus on art, fitness, culinary, and the environment. Children will use their creativity, imagination, and experience outdoor adventures. Full-day, half-day AM & PM, and hourly camp times are available 7 days a week. View more at EdgewoodTahoe.com/Camp or visit Camp Edgewood on the first floor of the Lodge. Are you looking for that important accessory for adventures in Lake Tahoe's great outdoors, a new top to wear out for the night, or a commemorative piece to remember your vacation to Edgewood? Whatever your need, one of our stores are sure to have what you're looking for from premium brands including Nike, Under Armour, Ralph Lauren RLX, Travis Mathew, Oakley, Descente, Kuhl, Stance, Maui Jim, OluKai, Fjällräven, Robert Graham, Bugatchi, UGG, and many more. The Boutique and Adventure Shop are located on the first floor of the Lodge. The Golf Shop is located inside the Clubhouse (please note: Golf Shop is open seasonally with the Golf Course).
