What is Dumbing It Down and Why did you start it?

"My website SEO guy at Boston Online Marketing had been after me for years to make videos, but I always found most attorney’s videos boring like a legal continuing education class ZZZZZZ

Over the years, all my different clients came in and asked the same questions, had the same issues, and then faced the same problems because they just didn’t know, they were confused or got poor advice

I found myself explaining the answers to my clients, but without the legal mumbo jumbo so they could understand. It helped to inject some humor because they were always so stressed out."

Have a separate business credit card, even if it is just a “companion credit card” account with a different number on an existing account

Establish a business line of credit or home equity line of credit BEFORE you need the money. Keep it open even if you think you may never use it.Successful entrepreneurs always have a safety net.

What inspired you to become a tax lawyer?

"A very successful patent attorney I worked for during law school told me that you should always specialize.

My undergrad was in finance and accounting, and I always helped my friends with their tax returns and finance questions After law school, I was awarded a federal clerkship with Judge Queenan, the Chief Judge of the U S Bankruptcy Court

One of the reasons why he hired me was because of my accounting and finance background

Later, after I started my own firm, I realized the value of that patent attorney’s advice. I also obtained a second law degree an LL.M. in Tax. It is law degree that all tax attorneys have."

I hired two of my corporate clients, Donald Packer and Jason Carter to produce, film, and edit my video series.

What are your top 5 tips for entrepreneurs:

Don’t co-mingle your accounts. Always deposit your business income in the business account and pay the business bills from that account. Pay yourself from the business account and deposit your pay in your personal account.

Keep independent evidence of all your income copies of checks, credit cards payments, Venmo, Paypal your bank statement isn’t good enough for an audit.

No matter where you live, chances are good you need layers in your wardrobe. Whether, like here in New England, the temperature can change by 20 degrees in a day or if you regularly navigate between hot/humid weather and freezing air conditioning, layers are a must to be comfortable.

Having the right layers is also one of the most frustrating and often neglected parts of our wardrobes. Why? Because they can take a lot of forethought and planning and with busy schedules and confusion about what works, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and give up…or simply forget until you need the layer. Ugh!

As we enter a new season, this is the perfect time to think about what you need so you’re ready every time you head out the door.

Here are 3 of the most important aspects of layering:

How to Layer Outfits Through the Seasons

For me, this jacket is my go-to nearly every time I need a layer. The color blends perfectly with my hair color and it looks good over so many outfits. It’s the right length and the shape isn’t too boxy or too tight.

4. Neutral colors can be worn easily over many outfits (just a reminder).

Third: VARIETY

Be prepared for every occasion:

1. Lifestyle. What do you do in your day-today life? Go to a yoga class, have client meetings, walk the dog, meet a friend for dinner, or attend charity events. The list could go on and on and it’s different for everyone. The important thing is that you have the variety of layers you need for every part of YOUR lifestyle.

What’s YOUR best neutral go-to color?

Second: VERSATILITY

Choose layers that go with multiple outfits. It’s doubtful you want to have a different jacket or cardigan for every outfit you put on, right? Instead having garments (like my jacket above) that can work over a variety of outfits allows you to have a smaller wardrobe but more complete outfits!

Use these tips to choose versatile layers:

1. Clean lines and semi-fitted, i.e., not too boxy, too fitted, or too fussy. (See photo below of boxy/oversized vs. semi-fitted).

2. Color. While neutral colors are an important starting place for your layers, colorful layers can add pizzazz to your wardrobe. Maybe you wear a lot of cobalt blue, olive green or deep red. Having layers in your favorite colors will add a delicious variety to your layering choices and create visual interest in an otherwise neutral outfit.

3. Style. What’s your preferred layering style? Cardigans, fleece, blazers, motto jackets, denim jackets, knit jackets, kimonos…the list goes on. You don’t need (or want) every option in your closet. Choose your favorites and what works best for your lifestyle, body type and personality.

Use these guidelines to assess the layers you currently have in your closet and have fun shopping for new layers that meet your needs and make it easy and fun to get dressed!

First: COLOR

Start with your best neutral colors. Traditional neutral colors are black, navy, gray, brown, camel, taupe, white, ivory and denim. What neutrals do you wear the most?

2. V-necklines often work best over a variety of outfits.

3. Choose medium weight so you can potentially wear it for three seasons. Jackets in a cotton knit, a denim jacket or a sweater with ¾ sleeves can get you through a wide variety of temperatures. This is a generalized list and will be determined by the climate, our style preference and whether you tend to run hot or cold.

Prepping your home for sale is different than designing. It is a subtle combination of creating a blank slate for prospective buyers to visualize themselves there but also having enough items for spacial awareness and size of rooms

Pricing Strategy: Pricing is incredibly important and can make or break the sale It is critical to take in all data points including past sales, predicting future values, current market movement, and properties you will be competing against When you have a sense of value, I then determine the listing price based off of buying behavior in that area Buyers at one point were conditioned to go over asking, so the strategy was to price slightly under market but now times are changing and so is buying behavior

5. Transaction management: I pride myself in making transactions really easy for my clients by taking care of all final readings, smoke inspections, etc Selling a home is stressful enough, so I want to take as much off their plate as possible

2. Professional and comprehensive marketing package: Within the price of commission, the agent should be investing in top quality professional marketing We need to inspire as many people to visit the property I am very picky about the photographers and videographers I like to use. I make sure all of my listings have multiple length videos, 3d tours, floor plans, drone photography, and still photos

4. Client Advocacy and Negotiations: As a real estate agent, I have a fiduciary responsibility to do everything in my client's best interest which means advocating for them in negotiations and offering advice to help make sure they are having a stress free experience and getting as much out of the sale as possible It's not about the deal but about the people

Unfortunately, there is a low barrier to entry real estate and as a result the level of service received can vary greatly On top of that most people don't know what real estate agents do at all so when they go to sell, they don't know what kind of service they should receive I believe selling your home is one of the most emotionally charged and financially critical times in your life and that is why I provide high touch service to my clients with proven results.

3. Gift Baskets (DIY)

There are many options available to you from thoughtful, practical gifts that you can purchase at a discount or hand make. Not only will you save money, but your family and friends (and colleagues) will cherish your thoughtfulness!

Here are some awesome choices:

1. Whip up something delicious in the Kitchen!

No need to spend hundreds on fancy ready made gift baskets. Make a list of some of the things your friend or family love (like teas, coffees, jams, crackers, snacks, fruits, etc).

Here is an important tip….be sure to visit your local dollar stores, vintage stores and flea markets and stock up on decorative baskets, boxes, wrapping papers, ribbons, shopping bags!

What is your point of focus as a Relationship Coach?

How did you fall into the world of Relationship Coaching?

"I started my career in clinical psychology and practiced as a therapist for over 20 years. I subsequently came to identify myself as a Relationship Coach.

We know relationships around the holidays can stir a lot of emotions, whether single, married or divorced. Can you share one tip in each category on things to consider during the holidays?

"The holidays often stir up a lot of emotion for people, regardless of their relationship status.

I recommend that single people make plans with friends and family in advance if they are worried about feeling lonely. There are also often a lot of singles events around the holidays to check out, too.

For people who are married, the holidays can be stressful in a different way, and it is important to plan some down time between all the activities.

For people going through divorce, it can also be helpful to plan in advance and surround yourself with a community of people who will lift you up and help you through what can be a more challenging time."

When did you know you were in the right career for yourself?

"I decided that I wanted to be a therapist when I was 15 years old I had always been the person everyone came to with their problems in high school There I discovered that I could make a career out of something that already came naturally to me.

I loved being a therapist for the first part of my career and knew that coaching was the right next step in my career as soon as I began exploring the coaching field Coaching is rooted in positive psychology, is active and goal directed, offers a great deal of flexibility and focuses on where people are and where they want to get to I really love what I do!"

How do you work with clients?

"I offer a complimentary consultation to start with, and I work with individuals and couples In addition to relationship coaching, I also help people develop online dating profiles and provide practical guidance in navigating the online dating world "

What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?

"Entrepreneurship is in my blood for many generations and business has always been so exciting for me to dive into. During my years in high school, I took multiple business classes and incorporated my learnings into the successful brick-and-mortar business my mom and I had.

At age 18, I was given the opportunity to work in corporate with C-level executives and have taken a career in the last 14 years to work with CEOs/Founders of startup companies in Boston. Some of the projects that I have been involved in our company acquisitions, venture capital fundraising, launching new products, investor relations, and executive and business operations, company culture revamp, talent retention, and more.

Alongside my corporate career, I have also founded 6 successful businesses myself which have led me to be awarded Boston Business Journals’ 40 Under 40 and El Mundo Boston’s Latino 30 Under 30. Now, I am currently extremely honored to be able to bring my full-circle experience in entrepreneurship to business owners to redefine what success means to them.

What I love most about entrepreneurship is the ability to be innovative, disruptive, creative, and the ability to pivot as needed to find the best solutions to whatever problem I am trying to solve."

To have built multiple businesses with no college degree is absolutely amazing and so inspiring what advice do you have for someone who is on the fence about starting a business?

"Although I decided to not complete college, I have been in business school for the last 14 years while being in my corporate career.

I believe the future will be dominated by freelancers, small businesses, and entrepreneurs. People want to be in control of their careers and there is no better time to start than now.

My advice to anyone who is on the fence about starting a business is to just do it.

There is a reason why that idea was planted in you. Make hard deadlines to give yourself a chance to see if that is something that you find joy in. Make a list of mentors and consume all of the education they provide to help you avoid rookie mistakes.

If you decide that you are long-term committed to your business, hire a business mentor and give up the irrational idea that you have to do it alone. Everyone (including "the GOAT" Tom Brady) needs a support team, mentors, and community. So go out there and be "The Goat" aka "Creative CEO" of your life."

"I was inspired to build a career in health and wellness because I have been an athlete my entire life!

I started in competitive sports at the age of three and never looked back. It has been the thing that has always fueled my purpose and passion. It is what sets my soul on "FIRE".

It was only natural to continue that as a career. I started coaching as a teenager, received my degree in Exercise Physiology and then went on to personal training and nutrition coaching. "I created my own business at the start of the pandemic to help people through that rough time when everything was closed.

It includes options for everyone! I have an app that provides members with daily workouts - both cardio and strength and conditioning, and a weekly meal plan, shopping list, and daily tips and motivation to help them stay on track!"

"As much as I love fitness and nutrition, I also pride myself on being a motivational coach.

Inspiring people to find their "FIRE". Find what makes them the happiest they can be. I truly believe if you take care of yourself physically, nutritionally and mentally it allows you the capacity and space to really become who you were meant to be and find your "FIRE"."

"Besides continuing to help people get fit and healthy, I am also a writer and am currently working on publishing three books. The first is a step by step nutrition guide to help people learn how easy it is to master nutrition once they understand how to fuel their bodies.

The second book is a series of children's books focused around fitness and nutrition. They are all superhero based and are meant to target children ages 3-8.

The third book is a fictional fantasy book that has been the most fun to work on as it is sparking my creative side that rarely gets to come out!

I also want to start doing motivational speaking at events, podcasts and seminars and eventually start my own podcast!"

"Honestly I have no idea, but there are over 100"

What inspires the unique designs?

"Honestly, lots of things, but the common denominator is that they are inspired by boldness, freedom, and unapologetic rule breaking!"

We know you have clients all over the globe can you share one of your most memorable client stories?

I have quite a few, but I would have to say the most amazing one is from a customer in Marseille, France She owns multiple pairs of our shoes She wrote me a letter telling me that after she had just gotten out of an abusive relationship with a boyfriend who controlled what she wore by throwing out her clothes and shoes in the trash, the first pairs of shoes that spoke to her were Kkira Shoes

"My first pair of Kkira shoes were my first steps towards reclaiming my independence, self confidence and grasp on the fact that my opinion was the most important when it comes to what I wear I immediately felt amazing and unapologetically myself!'

What is NEXT for Mauryn?

"I am working on a few things that I am currently not at liberty to share but, what I can share is that I am now offering fashion styling sessions which will make it possible for me to work more closely with individuals as they discover themselves and learn to express themselves through fashion, I am obviously working on our Fall/Winter line which will be coming out soon, and a couple of other things that are in the works that I will be thrilled to share in the coming months"

Start with you, your Hell Yes! energy, and then build from there. The money always follows."

Can you share 3 tips for someone to consider when it comes to someone reaching their NEXT level?

1) Pick one problem you're going to own for your ideal client and focus on that (you want to be known for solving a specific problem)

2) Start with one offer and then build. Once you have consistent cash flow at the level you want, you can add on. Don't do it before then. If you want to make a lot of money, do one thing at a time.

3) Go all in on your business and your dreams, and get the support and mentorship you need to make sure that the practical pieces are in place and you also have a solid mindset too. Business is both an inside and outside the game. You need both. The most successful people don't go it alone. They hire a coach, get help, and surround themself with awesome people. That's how it's done."

What are the first steps you should take to rebrand?

New photos and a marketing plan to go with them. Why? So you aren't just getting nice images and have NOTHING to do with them!

My recommendation is you should get your hair and makeup done In addition you should hire a stylist even if fashion is not your thing. (You will thank me later!)

I decided after 7 years in business, it was time for a rebrand

What does a rebrand mean? Why should you do it for your business?

A rebrand I believe is a new way of showing up!

You can do this in your personal AND professional life

I am a walking example I am now a human mom and running a business that continues to grow and transform

When you invest in yourself, the outcomes are absolutely endless

Yes, it is true you have to spend money to make money When you work on your money mindset, the doors that open up are absolutely amazing.

2 Show up on ALL social media platforms Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter, Youtube Why? Someone on ONE of those platforms always needs to hear what you have to say Even if people don't like or comment they are WATCHING!

3 Create MORE Video Content in digestible segments under 60 seconds WHY? People's attention spans are so short these days that they will skip you if you are not catching their attention within the first 3 5 seconds.

4 Make sure you have a website and set up your email marketing! Why? If social media was gone tomorrow what do you have that is YOURS? Your emails and your website

5 Once you have a flow and a growing audience, you will start to get get feedback from your followers. START collaborating with other businesses and influencers! There are SO growth opportunities in collaborating!

6. Pitch yourself to the MEDIA! Media meaning, podcasts, magazines, online blogs MOST PRESS IS GOOD PRESS!

By taking these 6 steps and working on this first hand and with my clients, I can't begin to tell you the transformation I have seen! It is SO inspiring and amazing to watch
