IIn preparing for this fall edition, many of us are in a change of season as our children go back to school, summer activities begin to wind down and the anticipation of holidays ahead slowly make their way to our awareness in excitement.
Often through the years, I would find myself dreading the closing of the chapter of the memories and the moments that were so special as they became pieces of the past. Maybe it is just the older I get (I prefer to say wiser), but the more I see the value in cherishing the times behind me as treasures in my “life box.” I don’t want to miss any of the beauty in the seasons that lie ahead because I am sad to have the past come to an end.
My most precious experience recently has been since my son began driving this past summer. We have absolutely had the most fun as we navigate this new role as well as conversations together with the most depth. Laughing, sharing music playlists, listening to his plans for the future, as well as the opportunity to impart parental wisdom has by far been my favorite season yet. I definitely look over at him and still see my 7-year-old baseball player sometimes, but the defining qualities of a young man are emerging as he learns to balance skills that require growth.
There really is truth in the fact that there are no beautiful blooms without the rain, no rainbows without the storms, and no spring without the winter. In order to live life to the fullest, we have to experience it all to truly appreciate the beauty. It’s not always fun to get caught in a storm or learn to operate in a season of the new normal. Especially if we grieve the days or memories behind us. But we CAN find the beauty of today when we embrace the full picture of the seasons of life.
I encourage us all to remind ourselves as we walk into this last phase of the year to carry gratitude for the lessons, joy in the present and peace for the future!

The annual Firebox event is the perfect opportunity to enjoy live music and, of course, barbeque! This BBQ on the Bluff invitational features pitmasters, chefs, farmers, brewers, distillers and so much more. Whether you prefer sweet, spicy, smoky or tangy, this annual festival has plenty of delicious barbeque for you to choose from. Located at the intersection of US 17 and GA 99, one mile east of I-95 exit 42.
$8.75 for adults; $6.50 for seniors; $5.50 for youth. $20 to enter your car choice.
Classic cars from all over southeast Georgia will be on display vying for the championship in HofwylBroadfield’s annual car show. Come and view the cars, vote for your favorite and then tour a historic rice plantation.
Jekyll Island Shrimp & Grits Festival

The RSM Classic

Making its debut on the PGA TOUR in 2010, The RSM Classic became an instant Seaside tradition. Played in Georgia’s beautiful Golden Isles, the tournament showcases the area’s rich culture, history, and extraordinary hospitality.
The event takes place at Sea Island Golf Club on both the Plantation and Seaside Courses. In 12 years, The RSM Classic has raised nearly $29 Million to support charities focused on children and families in need.
