SUCCESS SECRETS Learning to ask for what you want

René Deceuninck
When I started my business in October 1995, I worked 24/7, trying to make ends meet, and soon realised this couldn’t continue. I was still a single father, raising three children and building a business simultaneously. In my deep meditative state, I would ask various questions to the universe in the hope of being answered Why was this happening to me? When would I meet Tony Robbins? When would I meet the Dalai Lama? and the list went on. I had to learn not to complain. I knew enough to understand that
this phase was teaching me so many beautiful things. I had to learn to rephrase my questions and be more specific when asking for something from the universe. I read many books written by the Dalai Lama, and I also took my first book about the Tao Te Ching, back into my hands and studied its entire content. These books became my inspiration. My father died in 2002 aged 78. I didn't get the chance to say goodbye, which was very difficult for me. I learned that even a long life can eventually be over very quickly. The last time I saw my father, I promised to make all my dreams come true. Now, I would do
I HAD TO LEARN TO REPHRASE MY QUESTIONS AND BE MORE SPECIFIC WHEN ASKING FOR SOMETHING FROM THE UNIVERSE.

GEW MAGAZINE| ISSUE 8, 2022 whatever it took to make that promise accurate. I started to meditate even more intensely and asked particular requests of the universe. My first request was to meet the Dalai Lama as soon as possible, and if possible, in Belgium.
PAGE 3 yesterday. I called Mr Mendoza in Portugal and told him I had stopped smoking. He didn’t believe me at first, but I convinced him, and he promised to send an email. It took him two weeks to send me that email; I almost died of curiosity.
My second request was to meet Tony Robbins as quickly as possible.
I finally got the email, and the subject read: “Personal Security” Application for “Tony Robbins.”
Neither question was specific enough yet. But four years later, in 2006, I met the Dalia Lama in Belgium.
I got the job and ended up backstage, having a high five and a brief conversation with the man himself.
I was invited to a health and wealth seminar a few years later. At that time, I used to smoke cigarettes, but I did not smoke that day for fear of losing my credibility.
After two years of serving, I thanked Mr Robbins for the opportunity and moved on with my own business.
After the lecture, I was approached by that evening’s speaker, Mr Ricardo Mendoza. We had an indepth conversation about the past and our experiences.
AFTER TWO YEARS OF SERVING, I THANKED MR ROBBINS FOR THE OPPORTUNITY AND MOVED ON WITH MY OWN BUSINESS.
I started gaining self-confidence and understanding people far
Suddenly he asked me, “May I ask you a personal question?” To which I said, “Yes.” “How long have you been smoking?” I was in shock. I was told you could tell a smoker by their skin colour and various other symptoms. He also informed me that he had an exceptional proposal for me but that it was only for non-smokers. Since I was a smoker, he wouldn't tell me what the proposal was. I didn’t find out what he had for me but it haunted me for three months until I decided to quit smoking. I chose, and I remember it like it was YOUR REGULAR DOSE OF EMPOWERMENT | WWW.GEWMAGAZINE.COM

Tammy Crawford Tammy Crawford is a professional artist known internationally for her inspirational fine art, 3D wall sculptures, reliefs, murals and paintings. Tammy started selling art at just 14 and has taken on various art projects and taught art privately and publicly. She has studied numerous art forms and mediums such as oil, pastel, bas and alto reliefs, design, and photography. Her artwork has been featured and published in various publications and media, including magazines, newspapers and television. Tammy's dedication to philanthropy has included raising funds for children's charities, mentoring and art education. Originally from Oregon, in 1996 her family moved to beautiful North Idaho, where they built their home in the mountains close to Sandpoint. ARTISTIC RELIEF CREATING ART IN NATURE FOR THERAPY AND PROFIT
All photographs in this article supplied by Mz Crawford.
TAMMY CRAWFORD Tammy Crawford has always loved nature, being creative & inspiring others.
However, there was a time when she thought she would never be able to do anything, including her art. As newlyweds, Tammy and her husband moved to Eugene, Oregon, to further their education. They worked in property management while attending school and started their little family. Tammy felt lucky, as she had a flexible schedule and could be with their daughters full time. It
gave her the freedom to be creative and volunteer. Her schooling was in fashion merchandising, design, and colour, and her focus at 23 was in the fashion industry, modelling, and raising her two daughters.
x-rays, MRIs and so on, she was diagnosed with brain tumors, fibromyalgia, and nerve damage six months later. She was told she would not live long and would likely be crippled before she turned 35.
This became extremely difficult after a severe fall resulted in a head injury that caused her constant headaches, pain, dizziness, and nausea. She couldn't remember simple things, especially names and words. It was a frightening time.
Surgery was not an option. She had a great team of doctors, and underwent MRIs and blood tests every three months for over ten years. Her medical team constantly experimented with different treatments, but nothing worked.
After 67 doctor's appointments,
Tammy says, "I felt like an

Her immediate thought was, "No one knows how long they have. Only God knows, and with God, all things are possible." So many things were going through her mind: How was she to tell her daughters? God, why me? Would she wake up the next day? She didn't want people feeling sorry for her or treating her differently.
TIME FOR A CHANGE Tammy decided she needed a change. She was going to do everything possible to live. She told herself, "I need to live each day as if it is my last". She already ate healthily, and exercised daily, & their family spent as much time as possible ienjoying outdoor activities, yet it wasn't enough. She needed to get away from the stress. She and her husband decided they needed a fresh start, so they moved to the mountains of North Idaho & built their dream home. Being surrounded by nature was therapeutic, and inspired her to be creative. With the encouragement of her husband and a few friends, she decided to pursue something that she had always enjoyed, made money with and was good at. That, of course was art. Tammy has sold art since she was 14 and taught art both in public schools and privately. When she decided to become a full-time artist, she heard many comments like "get a real job", " you will just be a starving artist", "you're not good enough", or "you don't

She chose to ignore these negative comments. choosing instead to believe she had been blessed with a wonderful gift that reflects her inspirations and creativeness, and so she was going to do something she enjoyed! While living in Idaho, Tammy has used all of her creative and management skills for work. Whether it’s organizing a fashion show, shopping with a client, teaching art lessons, or creating a statement piece, it is all creative and fun for her. “I love being able to inspire or encourage others and I love creating beautiful, unique art pieces that tell a story, or bring back a great memory” she says.
WHERE THE 3D ART BEGAN About 25 years ago, Tammy was asked to cover a 17ft drywall seam. She covered it with a 3D aspen tree. From then on people would request her to add some type of 3D element into their murals. In the last 10 years she started sculpture to create her own style that definitely stands out. “It is very unique,“ Tammy says. “Everyone needs their own style! If you must, only copy to learn a technique or how something is done. Do not try selling it, but use the new skill you learned to create your own style.”

ART AS THERAPY For pain management Tammy has always kept busy, & spent time in nature. "When I am busy, distracted I don't think of the pain. I am focused on creating." An example of a typical day in the summer: would be prayer and meditation, sipping her morning coffee while listening to the stream trickle and the birds sing, and occasionally deer, wild turkeys or even a moose wander into the yard. While there, she usually posts social media updates, then goes into the studio and sculpts or carves on one art piece for a few hours, before switching to another. She usually works on three to five

There are some days, however, when she has to start with a walk or end with a boat ride on the lake. Being creative and working on her art has always been therapeutic for her. Using veggies from the garden & taking natural supplements helps to maintain her health. Yes, she still has constant headaches and nerve pain. and she still can't get life insurance. But she does get to create art surrounded by nature. Besides Faith and Family being important, so is helping children. She donates a percentage of every art piece to a childrens cause. Tammy has volunteered with youth (teaching/mentoring) for over thirty years. Recently Tammy has started speaking internationally to inspire other artists and to empower women. She is also taking on clients for private coaching, & holding semi-private art retreats. She is the author of the upcoming book "THE POWER OF ART AND NATURE: .10 ways both can improve your life.. Interested in being part of the book launch team, send her an email: Powerofartandnature@gmail.com "I am so blessed! I get to enhance peoples lives through the creation of beautiful art," she says, "that causes them to reflect, imagine, and be inspired." Tammy
