Poem – “We Are The Others”

We are the others Look around you What do you see? Mirrors reflecting yourself Old or young, rich or poor, tall or small, fat or slim, We are all equal, we are all human. We are the joy When we smile to someone We are the sadness When we forget to confort a friend We are the courage If we believe in somebody’s great actions We are the failure If we destroy other’s dreams We are the peace When we stop some inner war We are the violence When we silence and don’t denounce We are the future If we use the present to build it And we are the past If we make it imperative to remember. We all laugh and cry, love and hate, win and lose But in the end we are one, We are the others.

We are the others Who are we?! We are human beings We are birds with no wings We are tigers with no paws We are fish with no water We are sad trees without their leaves We are children without toys We are the sky in a stormy day We are a destroyed planet We are the others whose everything was taken Dignity Freedom Respect Life Everything that fulfills our souls That won´t happen anymore Don´t you know what we are able to do? We are just like you But with a little difference We stand up Raise our heads high Scream out loud “The answer is: We are the others We rewrite a new page on our lives!”

We are the others

Discrimination is to consider Being different implies different rights. Being a woman - an inferior creature, Being a man - more that being a woman. The inhumane way of treating women somewhere, atrocities made, horrors passed, intrigues started… Women were just different. Having a baby, taking care of the house their only functions, voting, studying, having a career - an absurd. You, me, we that have the ability of creating a life, should also have the duty of generating alternatives This is not walking in high heels, House working, going shopping. This is to continue the fight started years ago by STRONG WOMEN This is not hope, is not love, This is about strength. Let´s be like those other women that need us now. TOGETHER let’s help other women conquer liberty, independence and self-identity. A small step for us, a huge mark in woman’s history. Discrimination should not be a fact, After all, WE ARE THE OTHERS. By: Daniela, 12º A

“We Are The Others”

We are the others Such a small phrase But full of meaning.

People mistreated, beaten, raped What are we doing? Can´t anyone stop and tape?

Tape for others to see The discrimination, violence, corruption, That it is in your street.

Eye color, gender, skin tone All related with nature Nothing to do with your own

Don´t dig a hole You are your aura You are your soul.

Dump the society Ignore the bullies Stand up and scream Capacity

Capacity to be what you want Capacity to change what´s wrong Your voice high Your voice strong.

We are the others We are nature We are life So, we are the same. Ester Pires Vanessa Veloso

We are the others Look to your principals Look worldwide and realize What the hell have you been doing? You haven’t made enough But you have said it all

Just stop and see

Check out the leeching of the Negros Give a look in World War II Is it fair what the Chinese do?

Look at the stars They are so big but they look equal to us Isn’t it applicable thus?

Our souls are twins Our souls are together And it’s now and forever Just remember

We are the Others

Living in a tough world Facing a racist society Watching my life being hurled With the power of the others’ anxiety. Surviving under the willness of others, Can’t even grow up along with my brothers. Happiness is the feeling I can’t reach, Besides every oppression lived, Breathing between every breach Gathering forces for having my rage unleashed. Fighting for the freedom of my soul, Heading liberty is my life’s role!

We Are the Others We are the chosen ones The ones they chose to hate The hate they don’t try to hide The hate for us being different.

We are the others The others who suffer in the hands of the prejudice The minority with rights that people refuse to see Blind people with only hate in their heart.

There’s no reason to discriminate We are all humans We all have senses and feelings So let’s fight to bring equality for this sad world we are living in.

We are the Others

Sometimes the dark sky

You may ask:

Keeps you from seeing us,

“But what is the purpose to find you?”

The heavy teardrop passes

And we may answer:

Trough us and then we suffer.

“And what’s not to find?”

Sometimes the light sky

One day you will find us,

Overshadows your eyes

You will look into the rainbow sky

And warms your face,

And your branches will be together

But you still can’t see us.

In the place where the earth meets the stars.

Sometimes the own world

You will follow those long strong arms

Puts on us an invisible cloth,

And you will approach our colorful flowers

So if you don’t want to search

You will becomes one of us

You will never find us.

And then you will say:

I AM YOU.

“We are the Others” Poem Them, The others They call us that But we are lovers Of the earth Of our lives Of our friends And wifes Your child Is like ours She’s not wild Bur she’s like flowers You made a wall Of Iron and cement You built the wall Despise the cent You want the dollar, Money and power Working white collar On every hour But you forget Righteousness and peace Despise the others And live in bliss On solidarity You spit We trust in charity As we see fit There is hope In our hearts We’re together But live apart Skin colour, Sex or Age Forget the honour Just turn the page

But be aware That freedom rings Among the soul Of those who sing We are the Others But we believe, That in the end We will succeed

We Are The Others We are the others.

In China children are forced to work,

We are not followers.

Like objects they’re treated.

We don’t want another apartheid,

The authorities don’t do much,

Where Mandela was arrested

No one wants to fix it!

And many black people died.

The world was falling.

Times are changing.

Some people climbed to the mountain.

We have to do the same.

They yelled to be heard.

Women are not made to be beaten,

But only a few were certain,

They don’t deserve that pain.

Anything had to be done,

In the 19th century

So the climbers were considered captains.

The Indians have almost disappeared

Mother Theresa, Pope John Paul II, Jesus!

It wasn’t God’s will,

They are known worldwide.

He saved them without fear.

They made the difference.

Ghandi and King for the human rights have fought,

They succeeded because they tried!

They both were killed,

Oh energetic young people!

Great courage they got!

We can, we need, we have to cross the boarders!

Discrimination is still a problem

Because remember:

Very hard to fix,

We are not followers,

But now we are strong,

We are the others.

We’re making a racial mix. The Dalits suffer in the East, The big people don’t care, They’re condemned since birth, This is very unfair.

We are the others We are the same So why go insane And kill each other Why can't we see past differences have peace? Is it that hard to accept what nature has to give? Let us talk fluently Like the rivers And come to an agreement Like lava and the sea The world is my home And you are all my brothers So let's unite and form a circle the circle of life We are the Others!

Valter and Pepe’s Poem – We are the ones who dream

We are the others, the sons of the earth We are the followers, to freedom we gave birth Jumping from sky to sky, diving from sea to sea United with one dream, one day the world could see Bringing our connection to a new conscience Maybe we should start over with caution Let’s hold hands, and breathe Watch the world expel all of its greed Lie here with me and teach me how to live Black and white bonding, that’s what I believe.
