0. OUR PTOJECT MAIN CHARACTERISTICS

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This is a basic project created to begin a relationship between both schools (Sant Carles de La Ràpita, Tarragona (Spain) and Colaiste Choilm, Tullamore (Ireland). The students will exchange some written messages and photos to get to know each other. Both schools will be using foreign languages, English and Spanish. Then, as a final product we’ll create an online magazine with the messages and photos of the students and the schools. The main goal for us, thus, is to set the beginning of our schools relationship. Then, we’ll be able to develop more complex and longer projects. At the same time, in the future, we’ll provide our students with the chance to get further and deeper knowledge about culture awareness.

OBJECTIVES: 1.

Use the foreign Language to communicate and get in touch with students from

the other culture/country to learn about general differences in lifestyles. 2.

Improve writing skills by means of writing their personal profiles and reading the

others’. 3. Basic use of ICT. 4. Establish a relationship between both schools in order to develop it further in by means of future projects.

WORK PROCESS AND TIMELINE: We programmed to use 1 hour a week in our Foreign Languages subjects (English, Spanish). The tasks and responsibilities were shared by both countries equally. When the students worked individually, they used the foreign language they were studying to write their messages. However, they used their own mother tongue to read the other schools messages. Thus, when the students were working with in groups with the other school they used both languages. Our project was planned to be carried out in 3 weeks: from 1st April (Easter Holidays 12th-22nd/28th) to 3rd May, however, it took a bit longer due to extra activities in both schools.

STEP 1.INTRODUCTION & FORUM. Our students worked individually in class. They wrote in the forum a short introduction about them and added photos or avatars in their Twinspace profiles (we gave them a model to follow with the points to include, name, age, interests, â&#x20AC;Śdepending on studentsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; level of language they were more or less sophisticated texts). We also provided them with the websites and apps for them to create their avatars. Then, individually, in class or as homework in the forum as well they read the others posts and replied to at least 2 other students from the other school.

STEP 2. WORKING TOGETHER & FORUM After creating the avatars and introducing each other using the Forum, we voted to decide which tool we would use to work together: Google Drive won! Next, we began working together using Google Drive and added information and photos to our initial presentations. We worked in transnational groups. The groups were created by the teachers following the information shared in the forum by the students. They used the forum created on Step 2 to talk about it with the students from their school and the students from the other one.

Hi, my name is Sara Masdeu and I’m 14 years old. I will turn fifteen on the 28th of October. I’m from Sant Carles de la Ràpita. I’m very shy but if I can get to know someone, I’m always telling jokes. I love listening to music and hanging out with my friends, I’m always with my two best friends Laia and Amber.

I used to do rollerblading but I stopped last summer. We are five people in my family my parents and my two older brothers, my brothers live in Barcelona because they are studying in university.

Sant Carles de la Ràpita it’s at the south of Catalonia. La Ràpita is a beautiful town, in summer there's a lot of people here. It has beach and mountain too. My name is Mar Castellà Vidal, I'm a fourteen-year-old student in INS Alfacs, St. Carles de la Ràpita (Catalonia, Spain), where I live with my parents, my younger sister, and grandma.

St.Carles de la Ràpita is my hometown. It’s a little city between the sea and the mountains, it was built by king Carles III in 1780 so it has a lot of history. I enjoy going for walks in the seashore and watching our beautiful sunsets.

My school, Institut Els Alfacs, is a big high school with three floors and about 650 students. In the future, I plan on staying to study science and technology.

Hello. My name is Ámbar and I’m 15, I was born the 6th of April in Tarragona, Tortosa but I live in Sant Carles de la Ràpita with my mother, my stepfather and my sister.

When I was 3 years I began the school at Carles III and I did all the primary there. At the moment I’m going to Alfacs high school and I’m doing the 3 rd year. The next year I will do the scientific and technological itinerary because I would like to become a videogame designer.

Vivo en Tullamore, La población de Tullamore es 14.607. Tiene muchas atracciones turísticas en Tullamore. También está la destilería y hay un monasterio llamado Clonmacnoise. Cada año se lleva a cabo el show de Tullamore, es un espectáculo agrícola donde hay mucha maquinaria agrícola y actividades para hacer. El espectáculo es una vez al año en agosto. Este año el espectáculo será el 18 de agosto de 2019.

También el campeonato de arado se llevará a cabo en diferentes lugares del país. Los campeonatos de arado fueron en Tullamore durante los últimos 3 años.

I play football but in the past I practised handball and judo, too. In my free time I like hanging out with my friends, watching videos and playing video games.

I have one pet, a dog. His name is Carter and he is a chihuahua with long hair. My town is the best in El Delta de l’Ebre because it has mountain near and also the sea. In the summer the temperatures are very high but in the winter it isn’t too cold. In La Ràpita, there are 14,500 people, so we are a big town or a small city.

My school is really big and new. There, we have got the best teachers in the world! The classrooms are big and a lot of people go to this school because it is a state school. I’m friendly with all of them while I try hard to get the best marks.
