REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Registration for most City of Chamblee Parks and Recreation (CPRD) activities can be made on chambleerec.com. Users will need to make a free account, add any family members and select the program of their choosing. The activity will be reflected in the cart, which can then be paid for via credit card online. The Parks and Recreation Department also accepts cash, checks and money orders as payment for registrations in person or via mail. CPRD also partners with many organizations to provide a variety of programs and athletics. At times, users will be redirected to the partnering organization’s website to register.

REFUND POLICY

It is the policy of the City of Chamblee Parks and Recreation Department to provide high quality opportunities to youth in the community and to accommodate the maximum number of participants allowed in these programs. To accomplish this, parks and recreation staff require sufficient time to notify people on the waiting list of any programs to allow them ample time to attend and to complete required paperwork. If for any reason your child does not attend the program as registered, please let our office know as soon as possible so we can fill the opening. Therefore, any participant may receive a 100% refund of their registration fee if the refund is requested at least TWO WEEKS (10 working days) prior to the first day of a scheduled program or activity. If less than two weeks and two business days prior to start of the program, only a 50% refund will be issued. No refund will be issued after 10 am two business days prior to the start of the program. Full refund or credit will be granted if the program is canceled by the Department. No refund will be given for a child who is suspended or expelled. Refunds will be issued on chambleerec.com as either a credit card reimbursement, account credit or check. Parks and Recreation staff reserves the right to modify refund policies for family emergency situations that cause a cancellation after the deadlines above or for children dismissed from the program due to behavior or other extenuating circumstances.

RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Chamblee Parks and Recreation has a Recreation Advisory Committee made up of a minimum of five and a maximum of nine City of Chamblee residents. Letter from the Director

Dear Chamblee Resident, Over the past fifteen months Chamblee’s Parks have never seen so many people! The pandemic, while awful, did bring attention to the importance of local parks. It also shined a light on the benefits of getting outdoors and enjoying natures beauty, as well as the desire for creative programming both outdoors and online. During this time, Chamblee’s innovative staff provided participants with new programs, events, challenges, scavenger hunts, activity books and online classes. We heard from several residents and teachers that these programs were beneficial to their children and schools. Because of this many of these programs can still be found online or in this issue of the activity guide. In addition to coordinating new programs, the department was able to move forward with a few park projects, including four Eagle Scout projects, and opened a new park called Arrow Creek along Buford Highway. Currently, Arrow Creek Park consists of a shaded fitness park, dog park and picnic areas. Future plans for the park include the addition of open playing fields and multi-sport courts. This fall, we are excited to be fully operational again and offering new and familiar programs to our residents. We will continue to monitor the COVID pandemic and adapt operations to provide a fun and safe environment for everyone. We hope to see you out in the parks! Most sincerely yours,

Jodie Gilfillan Jodie Gilfillan, CPRP Chamblee Parks and Recreation Director

PICKLEBALL OPEN PLAY

Pickleball Open Play is a great way to meet other Pickleball players in the community, exchange information and even form teams. POP at Keswick is NOT a Chamblee-sponsored program, but rather a “reserved” time for the Pickleball community to play. However, Pickleball players are welcome to use the courts any other time throughout the week, as long as a Chamblee-sponsored program (like Up4Tennis) is not occurring. Tennis players MUST vacate the courts during Pickleball Open Play, so long as there are enough teams to use both courts. Otherwise, tennis players may stay on the court. POP players are required to bring all their own equipment except for netting, which is already on the courts. POP players must put down the nets to the appropriate height (36” high at the sidelines and 34” high in the middle) and replace to tennis net height (36” all the way across) after play. For any other Pickleball rules or guidelines questions, please visit the USAPA’s website: www.usapa.org No registration required - just show up!
