beyond your first thoughts! “We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open,” wrote Jawaharial Nehru.
F
or many people, a weekend at the North Coast or a visit to Paris (or some other European city) may be as far as their mind stretches when they decide “Time for a Getaway!” But there are a million other “Magnificent” places (pun intended) to visit which will truly reward you with feelings of having escaped your everyday environment and routine. Let’s get more adventurous…
Bengtskär lighthouse, Finland This lighthouse sits on a small rocky island in the Baltic Sea. This is a REAL getaway. You can ferry there from Hanko, Rosala or Kasnas (weather permitting); or even helicopter to the island! This lighthouse was built in the early 20th century, after several ships were wrecked in the area. The sea there is very shallow and there are many uncharted rocks making it a difficult area to navigate. Granite from the island was quarried to build the 52-meter-high lighthouse.
If you like, you can stay overnight in the converted lighthouse keeper quarters, with meals served in the café! Weather changes can be fast there, allowing you to experience the many moods of the sea. You get to experience the wildlife as you walk, and if you are there at the right time you can see hundreds of Eider ducks that nest on the island. There is also a small museum where you can learn about the history of the lighthouse.
For everything you need to know about visiting the island: http://www.bengtskar.fi/english.htm
Feeling on another planet… That is how visitors describe the experience of the insides of this volcano. The landscapes are amazing, but perhaps more extraordinary than what is above ground is what awaits underneath. Thrihnukagigur is a dormant volcano; it last erupted over 4,000 years ago, and there are no indications of it erupting again in the near future. The word “Thrihnukagigur” translates to ‘Three Peaks Crater’ and the three craters are prominent landmarks within the protected area of Bláfjöll Country Park. Your visit will take about six hours including a hike across a lava field and about 40 minutes, actually, inside the volcano!! You will be lowered down through the crater’s opening using an open elevator system that is normally used to carry window cleaners on the side of skyscrapers. How cool is that! Iguazu Falls, Argentina Less overrun by tourists than Niagra Falls, and with an entirely different setting; the falls of the Iguazu River (laying on the border of the Argentine province of Misiones and the Brazilian state of Paraná) are the largest waterfalls system in the world! You should dedicate two days or even more (with flights from Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazu) so you can visit both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides of the falls. At the National Park Iguazul; you can travel using the Jungle Train (a circuit of ecologic trains that goes through the park and borders the river), walk through the park, and cross footbridges to view several hundred waterfalls, the spectacular panoramic view of the falls, and the delta of the Iguazú River. You also get to observe monkeys, vibrant toucans and some other animals from a near distance! More adventurous travelers may go canopying (moving between platforms in treetops in a harness) or take a boat ride around and underneath the falls. Check it for yourself here http://www.iguazufallstours.org
The Azores In The Middle Of No Where
Well, not quite in the middle of nowhere… The Azores are nine volcanic islands in the North Atlantic Ocean, about 1,360 km west of mainland Portugal; which is as far west as you can get and still be in Europe. I have only visited one of the Azores islands, but I hope to return to see more because my week on São Miguel was such a rich and varied immersion in green landscapes looking over volcanic lakes, cruising waves alongside dolphins and whales (and if the sea is not rough, you can actually swim with the dolphins), lounging in hot mineral-rich spring pools in botanical gardens, and seemingly endless sampling of superb food!! There is so much to see on these relatively small islands, so it’s best done with a Jeep or 4x4, and you can explore more about what’s there on http://www.futurismo.pt/en

Manarola, Italy.
No cars are permitted in the oldest and second smallest of the famous Cinque Terre towns. Doesn’t that sound like a complete getaway from city craziness?! These coastal towns with their colorful homes are fascinating just to wander around, or even stopping by to enjoy a relaxed lunch or dinner of fresh seafood from the Ligurian Sea. There is a walking trail between Manarola and Riomaggiore , called Via dell Amore or , «Love s Trail», and hiking trails in the hills and vineyards above the town. In summer, the town attracts lots of tourists, so it is best to visit outside peak season.
Close To City So you have to travel to a big city for work or other reasons? Don’t think that this means you have no chance of a getaway. Each city has secluded or less known amazing places to visit or stay!
The Cloister’s Museum, USA.
Museums take you to other places and times, and you often have entire rooms of artworks and artifacts to yourself when you explore the lesser known museums! The Cloisters Museum in Upper Manhattan is the branch of the Metropolitan (MET) Museum dedicated to the art, architecture and gardens of medieval Europe. It is an evocative setting for 2,000 artworks and architectural elements from the medieval West, mostly dating from the 12th to 15th centuries. Photographer Andrea, of Forever Photography http://www. foreverphotony.com who has used the location for engagement photo shoots, explains that “This type of old European architecture isn’t exactly easy to find in New York. However, the Cloisters in Upper Manhattan breaks all expectations of city architecture with its medieval European columns, high arches, and breathtaking stone walkways along the river. You feel as if you have escaped the busy, modernized streets of Manhattan once you arrive at the top of this desolate peak and reach the castle-like structure of the museum.”

Sintra & Cascais, Portugal.
I recently had the opportunity for a two-night stopover in Lisbon. On a whim I decided to book a day tour outside the urban environment and get more of the taste of Portugal. This turned out to be a wonderful getaway in such a limited time. With Lisbon Riders, we drove about an hour out of Lisbon to the mountain village of Sintra, which is a UNESCO world heritage site. This area has its own microclimate and has long been a favorite escape from summer heat for the royalty of Lisbon. It could take you a week to wander through the palaces and extensive forest gardens there! We walked up a gentle slope to explore Pena Palace which is considered to be one of the major expressions of the 19th Century Romanticism worldwide. We continued along the coastal road with stops at Azenhas do Mar for an entrancing view overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and Cascais to enjoy the local gelato in the peaceful seaside town. It was a speedy getaway, but doing it as an organized tour meant escaping the stresses of finding transport and also having the expert knowledge of our guide Nuno, who answered even our most obscure questions about the influence of Arabic language and culture in Portugal! Here is where to get the experience yourself… http://lisbonriders.com
Closer To Home
We can’t all afford the time or money to travel outside of Egypt. And sometimes we want our getaway to happen NOW! You know what; think of any city here, and then look a little beyond your first impressions of it. You’ll be surprised to find that there is actually a haven of serenity or a focus point of excitement and adventure (if you prefer your escapes to be more challenging) just waiting for you not so far from your door…
Fayoum Oasis, Egypt This can be a day getaway from Cairo. The big city dwellers tend to forget or even be unaware of the variety of environments that are relatively close to home; and Fayoum is a gem of multiple facets!! You can travel along Lake Fayoum shore, through Rayan Valley, visit the Magic Lake and El Rayan Waterfalls, and enjoy sandboarding in the dunes. Don’t miss the Valley of the Whales which includes petrified whales and unique rock formations! If you have more than a day; you can camp overnight or stay in a hotel nearby, then explore more of the area’s history. Visit the ancient basalt quarry, the ancient Pharonic road, the Petrified Forest, Abou Lifa Ancient Monastery, Qasr El Sagha Temple and Demi El Seba ancient city ruins. Don’t forget to include a visit to Tunis Village. And if you are interested in handcrafts, make this getaway at the time of the Tunis Pottery Festival (usually in December). For an indulging experience, check in to Lazib Inn Resort & Spa http://www.lazibinn.com and enjoy your surroundings from the infinity pool! If you don’t want to do the driving yourself and prefer to go off road with a comfortable four-wheel drive and experienced guide, Real Egypt Tours are specialized in organizing superb getaway days there.

THE GETAWAY ARTICLE YOU JUST HAVE TO READ!
“The best journeys are those who answer questions you didn’t even think to ask.” Jeff Johnson One can try to convince you with an idea for years, or even decades, and you never give a damn; but a-few-minute story or a video can change your mindset FOR GOOD! Get ready for some separated yet very connected stories about those people who already GOT AWAY from their lives to find their precious treasure ...*drum roll please, wait for it, just a little bit longer… THEMSELVES.
Story 1 THE TRAVEL OLDIES 180° SOUTH is the story of two of the most unique and prolific environmentalists of our time: Yvon Chouinard & Doug Tompkins. They decided to lead a road trip from their home in California to Deep Patagonia at the utmost south point of the Latin continent! They made their six month, road-trip plan and got ready to conquer the useless; which changed their life for good, as travel has had its magical transformational effect on their bodies, minds & souls.
T
he contrast mix between Doug & Yvon made their trip full of fun & learning. They were a couple of Americans based in Ohio & California. Doug was a business man and Yvon was an extreme hand-skilled person. But they have never come back to what they were at the beginning of the trip. As they were exploring untouched mountain ranges and un-surfed coastlines on a 5000 mile expedition from California to deep Patagonia, driving into forests and going on road trips; nature made them know themselves better. They ended up changing their life destination to serve better purpose; Environment Conservation. They later became the founders of 2 of the biggest companies for camping tools: “The North Face” & “Patagonia Clothing” well-known for their significant role in environment conservation.

pril 2014, me and 15 other travelers were enjoying our last two days in Japan before our flight back home. We had the chance to have a rich conversation with Hachiro San, a seventy-two-year-old Japanese who hosted us for over two weeks. I confess, that white silky haired man has shaken our whole existence with his spectacular view of life. And why not! With all the places he’s been to, it’s no wonder he has such an experienced, wide-ranged mind. There are two types of people in life” he said, “Soldiers and Sailors”. oldiers are the type of people who have concrete minds and firm beliefs that can never be altered. Sailors, however, move themselves to gain knowledge and experience. They’re usually unsatisfied being in one place for too long. The only constant in their life is ‘change’. They take risks, believe in second chances, and evolve!

can’t forget this story Jeff Johnson _an American film maker, wave surfer, traveler and photographer_ was telling about the best mountain climber in the United States Timmy O’Neill aka the “Urban Ape”. At the age of 19, Timmy left Philadelphia on a Greyhound bus to find a new family with climbers, kayakers and musicians. Since then he’s set world-speed climbing records in Yosemite, established new routes in Patagonia, Venezuela and Greenland, and co-founded a non-profit entity dedicated to providing inspiration, opportunities and adaptive equipment to the disabled community. He currently works as an ophthalmic tech endeavoring to cure blindness in Africa. Worth mentioning is that this GUY is AFRAID OF HEIGHTS! There is no doubt Hachiro San would have called him the Sailor of all time!

here was that guy “Yvon” who was comparing mount Everest “delicate climbers” _who work in corporates & banks_ with the modest climbers of volcanic Corcovado’s mountain. Where the former probably cut half the distance upwards using a helicopter, finding their hot coffee beside their sleeping bags, spending a warm night resting from a 30-minute climb; Corcovado mountaineers were facing fears, resting their back on an inclined Argentinian rock, catching their breath after 8 hours of non-stop climbing, laughing insanely for being alive after this intense thrill they have just witnessed. Yvon said, “The first are stupid when they go up, and stupid when they come back,” because they compromise the process, and whoever compromises the process; COMPROMISES THE BENEFITS. They are “minds made of steel.”

Trip or Treat ?! By Reem Salem
,
It s Time For Vacation Restoration! Who doesn’t like travel? The idea of taking a gap every year is simple enough, even if you have an amazing life out there with your family and friends, still, nothing can replace travelling. Travelling is considered to be one of the most enriching experiences; it leaves you speechless then turns you into a storyteller ! Get the best out of it; the benefits are limitless and beyond your thoughts. Here are just a few good reasons why traveling is worth your while!
The R & R Effect
Rest and relaxation are good reasons to travel especially in stressful times. Stepping away from your office and daily routine can be one of the best ways to de-stress, reduce tension and restore balance. By taking time out, you take a step back from what you’re doing and think about where you’re going. You’ll return with new motivation and the confidence to make next steps in life.
Connecting With People
One of the most important skills to learn through life is to communicate with people who are different from us. When people are away from home, there seem to be fewer boundaries to cross; and making friends becomes much easier.
Appreciate Your Life
Being away from home, work and daily obligations helps you appreciate family and friends. It makes you wonder why you have ever grumbled about them in the first place! It helps you let go of smaller tribulations and devote yourself to what really matters. You will enjoy a newly-found respect for the life you often wished to escape from.

Detox From Social Media
The best thing about truly immersing yourself in a trip is that you don’t have to be constantly in touch. You›re not chained to your laptop or tethered to your phone and social media sites, Better yet is some place with no Wi-Fi so that you don’t have a choice. It’s liberating and allows you to actually enjoy the ‘here and now’.
Explore Your World
Imagine a life where you never went out of your house; sounds pretty dull and sad, doesn’t it? Going somewhere new opens your eyes to so many things: fun destinations, new experiences, even hardships you can learn from. Travelling stimulates our brain and keeps it healthy. It introduces us to new locations, foods, cultures, customs and more. Watching how other people live is almost like viewing the world through someone else’s eyes. It improves your vision and your grip on reality.
Tell Me Who You Are and I’ll Tell you Where To Go!
With all such amazing perks, I bet you want to plan out your next vacation already; , but going on a trip can also be overwhelming especially if you don t know where to go, here’s a tailored destination list for every personality out there.
Peace Hunters
If you value peace, head straight to a resort to get some precious ME TIME! Take your loads off by treating yourself to an all-inclusive vacation where everything is planned out. During a trip in a reputed retreat, you may also get the chance to indulge in relaxing massages, invigorating spa sessions, detoxing treatments and steam baths.
Bold Dudes
For daring spirits who crave some adventure in their day-to-day life, a vacation with outdoor locations where you get to enjoy bungee jumping and skydiving, and scale new, terrifying heights is the perfect choice for you.
Nature Admirers
Sea, sand and sun are the essence of summer, relaxation and romance times. If those are the things that matter to you; dive into a palette of blue, green and gold, and enjoy the isolation and untouched beauty of an island. Waterfalls, sea, sand and sun; need we say more?!
If you have the chance to pack your bags and go, do it. Go, treat yourself and jump on a plane. You’re sure to get back home widely smiling at the memories. The world is a book and those who don’t travel read only one page, so make sure you read the whole book of charm!

Travel is the Healthiest Addiction Tell us about yourself and your journey with travel, nutrition and beauty?
Travel, nutrition and beauty; they have always been a passion of mine. However I never thought I could have a career that integrates all of them. I think travel is very important in life. To be able to see and experience another country and its cultures really help you be a better person. Some of my travel experiences have really had an impact on my life and have altered the way I behave and see and react to things. During my travels I’ve also learnt to modify my eating habits and not over-indulge. Being able to eat a healthy nutritional diet whilst experiencing the local cuisines is very important for me. The same goes for my wellness and beauty regime. Whilst I am away, I love to try out local beauty products and beauty regimes. My motto is sort of like: When in Morocco, try out the hammam; when in Thailand, try out the massage; while in Japan try out, the latest skin-care rage. This is how I altered my beauty regime to integrate beauty tips from across the globe. How did this passion for travelling come about?
When I started modeling, I was often flying abroad for various jobs. This is when my passion for travel really started. I loved seeing different countries, meeting new people, trying out original foods, and I would always imagine myself living in those countries. I always made sure to fully submerge myself in the culture of each country to really feel the essence of the place. And in doing so I had an amazing time and the truest experience of the place I was visiting. This soon became an obsession of mine and I yearned to travel everywhere! Something I am still doing to this day.

What’s the best advice you perceived while travelling?
Live the moment! It’s so easy now to become absorbed in social media when on vacation ~ taking photos, adding filters, and using the correct hashtags. And even though I am an avid user of social media, I think it’s important every once in a while to look up from our phones and appreciate the beauty around us. My advice is to experience the real deal rather than experiencing it through a filter! What strategies do you recommend for healthier holiday?
Stay active! I know it’s so tempting to be doing nothing when on vacation, but remaining active is a great way to enjoy a healthier holiday. I recommend taking a walk exploring your surroundings. Get to know the people. Whether you choose to take a yoga class or meet up with a local biking group, you’re sure to have fun, make new friends and keep active. As a former beauty queen, beauty must be top on your list. Taking that into consideration, what beauty products are must-haves when you pack your beauty bag?
When I travel, my number-one priority is to keep my skin hydrated. So I always have body oil, a lip balm and a good moisturizer in my bag. Whilst traveling to other countries, how do you get around and communicate?
When I’m out of my home town, I usually use a local taxi. I think using local means of transportation is the best way to explore a
country. Cab drivers know the place best so they can recommend some incredible places that maybe are a bit less commercial and off the beaten track. Some of the most incredible places I’ve been to have been recommended by local cab drivers. As for communicating, I always try to learn a few words before traveling to any country; even if it’s just please and thank you. Otherwise my ability to mime what I want is pretty dam good. Favorite country you have visited and my why?
Without a doubt Thailand has to be my favorite. I love the food, the culture and the diversity of the country. The scenery in Thailand is spectacular whether it’s the hustle and the bustle of Bangkok, the sandy beaches of KohSamui or the green country side of Changmai. What,s your favorite place in the world to live in and why?
Dubai!!! Dubai is of course my preferred place to live. It’s so amazing, and it has been my home for 5 years now. I’ve been fortunate enough to live in some pretty fabulous places. I stayed in London for 5 years and Miami for 1 year before moving to Dubai. But there is just something about Dubai that has kept me here for so long and has me proud to call this place home. What do you love most about travelling?
The thing I love the most about traveling is exploring. Seeing new things, meeting new people and feeling inspired for my next adventure.
Have you ever had a bad experience whilst travelling?
I have been very lucky during my travels that I have never had a bad experience. But I always take the necessary precautions to insure that I am travelling safe. What tips do you have for recovering after a long flight?
I think drinking lots of water, a brisk walk, and having a massage is the best recovery. If your life as a traveler could be described through a title, what would it be?
Funny!! I was discussing this with a friend the other day, as a joke my title would be «Are you cabin crew» because I constantly have a suitcase with me. The airport staff recognizes me, and due to this everyone thinks I work with Emirates. Hey, let’s face it, I may be flying as frequently as crew. LOL. On a more serious note I think I would want to name my book «The Journey is the destination!» This is due to the fact that I honestly believe that the travel is just as valuable as the final destination. The travel is where the adventure is, and I believe the journey can teach us many positive things along the way.

Guide to Pack Smart and Light!
P
acking is girls’ best friend! We just love to mix and match, play dress-up and stuff our suitcases with all kinds of items to make sure we will never forget a thing. And we usually end up over-packing; dragging many suitcases , around like a burden! What if I tell you that it s a well-known fact that most of times we use just half of what you have packed? Just know that you need to pack smart and to pack light for the ultimate travel experience!.
In case you aren’t convinced yet, here is a list of reasons why you should pack lighter:
1-
Tons of luggage would make you worry that one of the suitcases might get lost or robbed.
2- It would be a hassle in transportation; be it a train, a car or public transportation. 3- , You can,t put your luggage in the room,s locker if it s too bulky or if you have too many. 4- No room for souvenirs or for the new things you might buy.
5- It makes moving from a city to another harder, especially if you decide to camp for a night or two. 6-
You might end up paying extra fees due to exceeding the maximum weight allowed on a plane.
How To Pack Smart?
First you need to , plan ahead depending on how many days you re going to stay, the weather and the activities. Make a list of everything you need, to avoid missing anything. With , , a little planning you ll be able to pack your trip s worth of gear into a single suitcase. No, you don,t need a new outfit for each and every day, but you need to be smart about the items you pack. Opt for selecting versatile items, mix and match the colors with some main pieces with basic neutral colors like black, white, beige or gray. Then add variety worth of tops and complete the look with some accessories.
38
, Your destination will make all the difference in picking the pieces and materials. If you re going on a beach trip you need beach-friendly clothes with wrinkle-free fabrics that dry quickly. You need to avoid thick cottons and denims, more importantly are a swimsuit and a sun hat. If you’re camping, you might need special items like a tent, insect repellant, sleeping bag and a torch.
Now let’s get to WHAT TO PACK? In The Carry-On
1-All your important documents: make sure to have an organizer for your important documents such as credit cards, passport, tickets etc.
2-Cash (but not much). 3-First aid kit and medication: don,t forget to
have pain killers, allergy meds, sunburn relief, and multi-vitamins.
4-
Toiletries: opt for travel size bottles, fill them with your shampoo, conditioner or washer. , Avoid big bottles at all costs, because you don t want to take up much of your space.
5-An outfit and your essentials just in case your luggage got lost.
6-An eye mask, travel pillow and ear plugs. 7-Electronics, and don,t forget ,to bring
a converter based on where you re traveling.

The temperature is heating up and those warm beach days are rushing in. It’s about time to shape up, shine out and put those trendy pair of accessory on!!! Sunglasses have strongly gone from a nerd symbol to chic accessory. And you can refresh your look just by throwing on a pair, and then let the magic begin. But hold on; picking out the ideal sunglasses for your face shape isn’t as easy as you might think. There are frames that will definitely rock on you, and there are frames that will just turn out awful. So here is your guide to bring out your best features while catching the rays this summer!

Round Faces
Square Faces
Dear round–faced folk, kindly note that you should strictly avoid circular frames -especially the small ones- as these will get the round round-er if we may say.
If you’re having boxy or angular corners, GET RID of them, or just donate them!
Best Choice: 60’s era circular designs, catty eyes and other soft silhouettes. They’ll compliment your well-defined jaw lines.
Best Choice: Shield your eyes with a pair of aviators or cat eyes. They will compliment and contrast the soft roundness of your face.
Oval Faces Hooray! There isn’t actually any style that you need to avoid! So feel free to go with whatever sunglasses style you feel like.
Heart-Shaped Faces Rectangle and square frames are a definite no-go for you, as they will make your face appear off balance.
Best Choice: Consider yourself lucky; you do not only share something in common with Eva Mendes, but also the ideal sunglasses for you are mirrored sunglasses! A funky over exaggerated cat-eye pair or quirky heart-shaped frame will all look super chic on you. We kinda sort of envy you!!
Best Choice: Aviators! A classic pair would shift the focus downward on the face. Oh well, you can also pick the queen catty cat as the angles would be parallel to the outline of the bottom half of your cheekbones which will compliment your face perfectly.
Now that you’ve come to know the best for your face, it’s time to start shopping for the perfect shades. And we just happen to know where you can find ’em!!! It’s time to delve into 2017 trendiest sunglasses. May you find inspiration and save yourself the cataracts and crinkles!
Small Rounded Metal Sunglasses Okay I know, circular frames are a nod to the ‘70s, but this season rounded sunglasses have a very retro feeling to them. The 70’s inspiration along with the modern touches of colored lenses and funky frameworks are making them a perfect addition to your accessory list. Don’t hesitate … Get yourself a pair NOW!

Flowery & Glittered Sunglasses
Aviator Sunglasses Strictly speaking, aviator shades are still very much in vogue. From the classic ones to the topheavy Aviators. Trust me there is nothing better than rocking about a good pair of aviator sunglasses; a classic and cool choice indeed! Rock On Babe!
Colored-Lens Sunglasses Vavavoom, the princess has just arrived! Add a pop of color and a bit of fun to your wardrobe by completing your look with bright colored lens in dark/black frames. You will fall in love with them. Absolutely a knockout!
Rounded Cat-Eye Sunglasses Imagine this; rounded sunglasses married to catty cat eyes, what’s gonna be the result? A charming combination birth of round and cat-eye sunglasses; where the rims and lenses are round, and frame peaks up on the outer corners. Bet we’ll see a lot of those in 2017, so join the parade hon!
The spring/ summer 2017 eyewear trends seem to focus on flowery and sparkling shades. There is just so much fun in such glittery studs and floral touches on the sides of the glasses. A feminine, wild look is guaranteed!
Catty Cat Sunglasses Catty cats are the top notch trend in the world of sunglasses and there is no way to get rid of them. So don’t argue plz! They tend to be the most feminine and flattering of all shapes, as they add a touch of glamour and sophistication to any woman wearing them. Everyone knows this, right?! So long live the queen!
Mirror Sunglasses Mirrors still have a lasting power this season, yet we are gonna see them shift towards a more muted look with spotlight lavender and silver mirrors. Oh yea, the lavender shade is already on track to dominate. So mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?! ;)
Hey ladies, the sun is shining bright and the weather is sweetly delight. So hurry up, get one of those on your face, because you know what; the future looks bright, as long as you,re wearing the right pair of shades!!!

JOELLE MARDINIAN Beauty attracts the eye yet personality captures the heart; luckily we got the chance to witness both in one soul. So fasten your seatbelts and enjoy this free ride with glamorous diva, Joelle Mardinian as she unveils her beauty tips and keys to success. No beauty shines brighter than a lady who follows her passion; making the impossible possible, so let’s dive in with this stunning icon and get a taste of her splendor and glam!! How did you become interested in the beauty world? I’ve always loved the idea of beauty. My mom was a make-up artist and a fashionista, and I looked up to her and got really inspired by her. She would be very busy being a mom but she would still take care of herself. I felt that this is what I wanted too, so I started studying and working towards it. How did your passion for beauty turn into a flourishing business? When I was young, my teachers advised that I study business, so I ended up studying hospitality management. But soon I realized that life is too short and I need to do something that I am passionate about. So I studied make up artistry and worked in London with many famous international singers. Then I came to Dubai and started my TV show which is a reality makeover show. The show became very popular on MBC, and I repeatedly met fans from all over the world who would ask about my salon. After a couple of years of saying “I don’t have saloon!” I realized I should have a salon!! That was the beginning of it. I opened the first ‘Maison de Joelle’ on Jumeirah Beach Road in 2008. I now have 11 branches of the salon across the region. I started doing makeovers and consultations for people at the salon, and there came a time when they would come up to me and ask me about surgery: liposuction, nose jobs, dental work, etc. This encouraged me to open my own Clinic. So I opened ‘Clinica Joelle’ that grew from one branch to the second in less than two years. And now we are quickly expanding across GCC with 5 branches. Soon after, I decided to create my own beauty products because I felt something was missing in this huge beauty market, and I wanted to build a brand that helps women in the region to love themselves; not to hide behind makeup. So I introduced ‘Joelle Paris’! I really love this brand and it is like my baby. It has been a long journey of hard work, determination and of course a big team around me; but if we want the impossible, we need to believe that it is possible! What beauty products are must-haves when you pack your beauty bag? Of course Joelle Paris! I make sure to upload to SnapChat a photo of Joelle Paris in every single country I visit :)

Do you follow fashion trends or do you work from your own inspiration? Yes I do follow fashion trends but I don’t copy them. I am always inspired by creativity; whether it’s a piece of art, a statue, another make-up artist or hair stylist. And from all the lovely inspirations, I come with my own version of a trendy look. Fads come and go, so I like to have an essence of my style in how I look.
a perception on how wide, wonderful and different the world is!
How important is travelling for you? Travelling is so important to me. I work so hard for months so I really need to detach from work, from employees, even from my TV show. In travel, we get to discover a little bit more about ourselves. And I love this aspect! I am a person who loves life, and discovering a bit more about it is just beyond words for me! I have always believed in travelling; always prioritized it. Even my son has visited 4 countries before he was one year old :)
Do you have a favorite holiday look? I always go for simple and relaxed. For my hair, it is usually wash and go. My makeup is simple too. I use a good sunblock with just a little bit of make-up. Big sunglasses are always a great accessory on holidays.
How have your travels impacted your work? I don’t think they have impacted my work. But maybe they have relaxed me, and I always come back more motivated. We all live in a little bubble! We go to work, go out with same group of people, and visit same spots. Travel makes us get
Your definition of the perfect getaway?! My perfect getaway is to be with my kids. Sometimes, we like to go skiing so we go to Zermatt in Switzerland. Other times, we need somewhere tropical, so we head to the Maldives or Thailand. It depends…
Common mistakes women make regarding makeup and beauty products? They use too much products and apply too much makeup. Unless it’s a wedding you’re heading to, just stick to beauty essentials like sunblock, moisturizer, lip balm and hair lotion.
What’s the most common question you get asked by fans, and what is your answer for it? How to participate on my show! And I always say that the only way to be on my show is to audition, which happens once every year. We advertise the auditions on our social media platforms. On Instagram: @joellembc1, SnapChat @joellembc, and on Facebook. What is your number one beauty secret? I don’t really have a secret. I have been teaching people all my secrets when it comes to make-up since I started on MBC, about thirteen years ago. I love sharing. I really think sharing is caring. What are your tips for looking and feeling good on an airplane and after a long flight? Drink plenty of water. If on a very long flight; take all make-up off, moisturize skin well, and apply a nice hydrating mask. What’s next for Joelle? I am opening Clinica Joelle in Riyadh and in Kuwait. I am opening Maison de Joelle in Kurdistan and in Jeddah. My motto in life is simple. If we are passionate and if we love, we can create miracles!

We all want to look our best -- and by «best» we mean the most youthful, vibrant version of ourselves. If you,re not happy with the way you put on your makeup and have always wondered what mistakes you have been doing that’s keeping you away from looking your ultimate beauty, you,ve come to the right place. Nobody understands makeup as well as beauty blogger and style influencer, Wafa Yahya (Known on Instagram by the name @wafasdiary) Wafa will guide your way to look your best in your vacation; avoiding the usual bungle, and update you what’s hot and what’s not!
What beauty products are must-haves when you pack your beauty bag?
Every girl must have a handy pack for makeup that she organizes specially for travels. My own travel makeup kit usually has the following basics: Sunscreen, BB cream, mascara, a small eye shadow kit with earthy shades, blusher or bronzer, nude lip gloss or lipstick, and Bordeaux lipstick for parties and evening events. Common mistakes women make regarding makeup and beauty products?
1.
Not blending makeup well which leads to an unnatural look. The best way is to use brushes to do the blending so as to have a seamless final look.
2. Pulling your eye back when putting on eyeliner. This may break down the sensitive skin and elasticity around the eye. So a small tip here is to use post-its to do the trick of creating a wing. 3.
Drawing lines on the entire brow. This will make it , harder to blend and soften them, which means you ll most likely end up with an unnatural shape. The trick here is to start with a color that is the same or one shade lighter than your natural hair color. Then use an eyebrow brush and apply small strokes on the bottom of your brow, then brush upwards.
50
What’s the most common beauty question you get asked, and what is the answer for it? I get often asked how to conceal the dark circles around the eyes and the solution is 3 simple steps: Step 1: Dark circles tend to be blue or grey in color, so as a first step to conceal them, apply a corrector or a primer of an opposite color like orange or peach.
Step 2: Use a liquid concealer that is 1 shade darker than your skin. It is important for the concealer to be darker, so it actually hides the dark circles. Apply the concealer in an upside down triangle with ring finger, low enough under the eyes to completely cover the area. Step 3: Blend the products very well, and make sure that the orange/ peach shade has disappeared and dark circles are covered.
What are your tips for looking and feeling good on an airplane, after long flight and during the whole trip?
On a plane, always stay hydrated on a long flight. Replace your base with a moisturizer that has a tint to it or a light BB or CC cream to wear to the airport. This way if you do leave it on throughout the flight you,re not being too awful to your skin. After reaching your destination, don’t forget to cleanse your skin gently and to rehydrate it.
What is your number one beauty secret?
A woman is most beautiful when she smiles. Other than that, the most valuable tip is to drink water. Once you start drinking more water; your skin, hair and nails will all flourish.
Beauty trends for Spring/Summer 2017/2018?
1.Bronze dew skin is always a winner in summer. 2.Glittery lips and metallic eye shadow colors are back to the scene. This look reminds us of the 70s decade. 3.Interrupted black eyeliner. Unlike 2016, that witnessed the flawless eyeliner trend, this year black eyeliner takes on a new look being a bit unfinished. What’s the epitome of getting away from any negative vibes? In order to keep the good vibes, you need to surround yourself with positive people. Be positive and look at the bright side. Always believe that everything happens for a reason!

fter a long and crazy day in an exhausting job, unpleasant traffic or wrestling through the day with the kids; who wouldn’t want to resort to their own comfort zone… to their special corner to enjoy their getaway from it all?! Are you looking for that? A place where you can read, finish your tasks quietly or just sit there to relax , recharge, and enjoy the silence! No house can become a home without having that special getaway corner that has your unique touch imprinted all over it. It needs to be simple, to have a personality, and to be everything you want.
So you might want to enjoy a cup of tea, or maybe a meal, at the end of your day with your partner? Here is one of the most practical solutions for a small space: An L-shaped bench with a back for support and only a rounded table and a chair!! Building this nook has more to offer and you might use it as a table for your laptop to finish some late night tasks, or just chilling while binge-watching your favorite TV show.
M
aybe you don’t have enough space, maybe your budget is tight, but worry no more, because in this article we’re going to tackle how to exploit the smallest nooks and corners around the house to make use of space as much as possible and on a budget, to help you build yourself a getaway within the comfort of your home!
T
he space under interior stairs tends to be baffling. How can we utilize the space and achieve its full potential, especially when it comes to small spaces?! Let me tell you my friend, it’s the ideal place to build your very own cave where nobody can disturb you. You just got yourself a central area where you won’t have to worry if anything should happen while you enjoy your solitude! You can always use this space for reading, having a cup of coffee or just contemplating.

e’ve talked about using your getaway for reading; but if you’re an avid reader, it’s a completely different story. You need to build a place where it can become a handy library that would extend from the ground up! Using vertical walls is a brilliant idea, it will save you from the inevitable mess and it will give the room special vibes. Make sure to have proper lighting for reading at night, and to use any view you might have because there are few things that are more relaxing than reading with a view!!
Style & Coziness
I
’m not sure about you, but your is what comes to mind whenever somebody talks about nooks and corners, it’s a traditional use of corners around the house. That’s why you should never have a lonely corner unfurnished you can always employ a stylish lounge chair along with a side table, accessorized with some cozy items that would complete the scenery; like fresh flowers, a cushion and a blanket in a minimal fashion
Tiny Office
M
ost of us busy bees are prone to having some late-night tasks that might need quiet and peace of mind in order to get done, that’s why it’s important, for lots of reasons, to make a place for your work and not let it intersect with your family gathering area or where you have fun. In designing your office getaway; you need to have all your papers and documents organized, so it’s important to have a drawer unit or shelves that would contain the desk and of course a comfortable chair.
For the Little Ones
Y
our kids deserve to have their own getaway corners too. It would serve you well to keep their toys in one spot instead of having them scattered all over the place. Not to mention that it would certainly teach them about privacy and the value of entertaining themselves with solo hobbies such as reading, drawing and painting..

f your house has a magical view, maybe a sea view or a garden, make sure you’re able to use it in your favor. Harness a window that overlooks this magical view to create a simple seating for you to relax, or perhaps invite some of your friends over to have some heart-to-heart conversation while enjoying your coffee; with a view.
A Green Bliss
I
f you want to create your own “magnificent” view _pun not intended opt for building an interior garden by using some pots and plants. They wouldn’t only act as a nice piece of decor, but in fact they have some major benefits in terms of calming the atmosphere, purifying the air, and also giving the environment a certain aroma of livelihood and energy.
Take Advantage of the Floors
F
or a simpler choice or maybe if you’re more inclined towards bohemian or eclectic styles, fill every floor space with some floor cushions. What is great about them is that they can be portable, so you’re free to move them around the house. They will serve you well if your furniture pieces are crowding the rooms, or if you are rather too short on space, not to mention that they’re damn affordable.. There are lots of designs and ideas when it comes to floor cushions, make sure you pick colors that would help you relax and regain your energy.
U
Employ the Roof or Terrace
se your roof or terrace area wisely by furnishing them in a way that would make the best of them. Make sure it’s a simple and comforting area that would be a place you run to when you need to clear your head and enjoy some fresh air.
The Courtyard
H
aving an outdoor space is a privilege that you need to use wisely. You can invest in a swing or a chaise lounge to lose yourself in nature. Or simply prepare a nice seating that would have some romantic atmosphere. If you don’t have the outlet for a fancy getaway, this is the next best thing! It’s located within the comfort of your home, wouldn’t take much time to get there, and it’s cheap too! It would be a perfect escape from your busy life, whenever you feel the need to it.
Indoors Hammock

ome would say it’s a bold move or a radical choice to bring your vacation favorite item into your everyday life. It might take a little bit of courage, and would certainly need a space but it’s easy to install and a pleasure in indulge in.
S
ame goes for interior swings; yet they take much less space and are more common in houses nowadays.

This quote is one of the most popular quotes on the internet and why wouldn’t it be?! Coaches and athletes around the world do their best to spread the love of sports, and it’s been proven through time that people who do sports are happy people! Whatever your problems are; working-out can “lift” you out of them. Whether you are walking, running or even lifting weights; it has been discovered that all styles of exercise are therapeutic and immediate mood-boosters. How is that possible?
Here is your cheat sheet! Negative vibe repellent.
Sports improves your brain function; especially group sports, as trying to hit the highest score so you’d be the winning team elevates your mood and improves your concentration. How: When you’re in a team, you kick out all that overthinking and go gang bang on them negative thoughts, all for the sake of winning. Idle hands are the hands of the devil, and if you’re too busy kicking balls and dropping weights, and whatnot, you have no time to weep over your life. In other words; hasta la vista anxiety, stress and depression.
2
3
Exercise decreases the level of stress/ anxiety and depression. How: When you become active, your mind gets distracted from whatever causing you stress or depression; leaving you focused only on positive thoughts.
A harmless tranquilizer.
Working-out makes you sleep better; allowing you to wake up the next morning relaxed, clear-minded and ready to hit up a fresh new day. How: When you go back home after an intense workout, a long football match, some dynamic cycling, or whatever you have been engaged into as form of exercise; your body will be craving rest which in turn leads to a fast, deep sleep. Just make sure you don’t do it late at night, especially if you’re an energy-drinks junkie, because you’ll end up hyperactive all night long.

A stress reliever.
A legal euphoric drug.

Turns FAT to FIT aka “Head Turner”. As time passes, sports will shape you up and elevate your health, speed, stamina & agility; not to mention you losing weight and building up some muscles. Whipping your body into shape will boost your self-confidence and encourage you to stick to healthy habits. How: When people start giving you compliments about how ripped and attractively good looking you have become; you will feel good about yourself. After all, who doesn’t like getting their ego stroked?!
When you start your day with exercise; your metabolism rate increases, your brain’s power to handle stressful situations gets high, you feel more energetic and your sense of accomplishment elevates. How: The brain considers working out a stressful period; causing the heartbeats to accelerate as a defence mechanism to that “supposed to be stress”. It then produces two types of chemicals: BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) that acts as a restart switch for the brain and works on improving memory, and Endorphins that help to minimize the brain’s discomfort, as they stimulates pleasant feelings and block all kinds of pain. Those chemicals are the main reason why working out makes you feel so good. They are highly addictive (like cigarettes and drugs but in a good way) and their joyful effect linger for the rest of the day.
Let’s Celebrate Health! Stop wishing and start doing! Go work on yourself, by yourself, for yourself; because excuses are useless and the results are priceless. How: You don’t have to go to the gym; you can sprint in the street or do some light workout at home. Or maybe just repeatedly go up and down the stairs. Don’t start your day with caffeine to keep you alert, while you can start it with exercise that will automatically boost your mood. Choose any kind of sport that lifts your soul up. Don’t use excuses. Don’t hold yourself back from living an inside-out healthy life. It always seems impossible until it’s done! The best project you’ll work on is YOU; so stop wishing and start doing NOW!!!

Eating CLEAN & Training DIRTY With Fitness Aficionado
W
Rania Gamal
e all have days when we just don’t feel like doing anything! It’s boiling out there, you didn’t get enough sleep, you had a crappy day at work, your wife cheated on you, your boyfriend dumped you, your dog ate your homework, whatever. It’s these moments when we just want to curl up on the couch, play video games, and feel sorry for ourselves. However, these are the exact moments when it’s most important to stay on TARGET: to stay consistent, keep training, and keep pushing! Getting in shape and living better take hard work and an iron will, and Rania Gamal; the fitness instructor who shifted from the delicate world of modeling to the hard core of fitness is here to help us get fit in the gym and lose weight in the kitchen. Here is what the health and lifestyle aficionado who guides women to eat healthily and live independently had to say to inspire us to not only Sweat but Sparkle!!!
Tell us about your fitness journey and how did it turn into a career? I have worked as a model for many years, and the gym initially was just about keeping fit for my job. As I started seeing the transformation of my body that came from a serious approach to working out, I was hooked! How did you turn from a fitness fanatic to a fitness coach? Well that was not really intentional; but living a healthy lifestyle, people started asking for my advice and I realized that combining fitness and modeling would be a great opportunity for me to follow my passion. Do you follow fitness trends, and which trend appeals more to you? Yes, I do follow fitness trends in general, but what really catches my interest is nutrition. How and what you eat has a massive impact on your gains in the gym. What is your training philosophy? Don’t stop until you drop. LOL. No seriously, I am a big believer that you should always do your best - go hard or go home. What motivates you to work out? I get my motivation mostly from the way working out makes you feel and the positive energy that comes with it. Many people use food as a psychological getaway, what advice do have for them to help them lose weight? I think all of us have the need to snack on something from time to time. The trick is to find a snack that is healthy and support your development. For me that snack is typically nuts or protein bars. Although you are better off not snacking at all, at least if you eat the right thing it’s less of a problem. Now the real trick is to make sure you always have your healthy snack available, to avoid the temptation to visit the vending machine at work or to stop at the nearest petrol station.
58
Common mistakes people do when it comes to exercising? They don’t take the time to learn how to exercise correctly and therefore end up hurting themselves. Secondly; people are often not consistent enough - if you want to make a change to your body, then you need to go to the gym regularly and without long breaks in between. What’s the most common question you get asked about fitness, and what is your answer for it? What do you eat - how do you stay so fit? It’s simple, I make sure that all I eat is healthy – even my snacks. How important is travelling for you? Travelling is my favorite thing. There is nothing like exploring a new part of the world, whether for business or pleasure. How have your travels impacted your work? It has given me the opportunity to get jobs, photoshoots and news articles in many different locations. Do you feel pressure to be in perfect shape, and is it possible to have the perfect body? Yes I do feel some pressure to be in “perfect” shape, but it’s driven by my aspirations not my surroundings. I think it is possible to have a flawless body, but what exactly that is, is a personal “standard”. It’s all about how you feel about yourself and probably less about how you actually look.
Your definition of the perfect getaway?! The perfect getaway is when you go somewhere new with your partner or best friend and you’re combining the right amount of adventure, shopping and nightlife. What’s the one thing you’d never skip in your workouts? Abs. Never skip abs exercises! What fitness equipment do you recommend packing while traveling? Actually never travel with fitness equipment as such, but of course always bring gym clothes and shoes. There are so many challenging exercises you can do just using your own body weight. What do you do to work out when you are on the road and during your vacation? I do my best to never skip my training routine. So typically during vacation my day still starts with a workout. It can be in the gym if staying at a place that has such, or it can be a run around the neighborhood on a sunny morning. The latter is also a great way to experience the place you visit - so it’s much more than a just a workout.
What snacks do you pack for your holiday? Same as always - nuts and protein bars. What strategies do your recommend for a healthier getaway? Keep your routine of starting each day with a good workout and a healthy breakfast, otherwise just enjoy! Shopping is an excellent opportunity to exercise while on vacation. If you insist to walk around - no taxies or busses then a day of shopping will easy have you covering 10+ km of walking… not to mention the “weight training” from carrying around the shopping bags… LOL.
Up-Close & Personal
What are your tips for looking and feeling good on an airplane and after a long flight? It’s pretty simple – water… lots of water! And keep your skin moisturized with a good night cream. Yup. Night Cream! You need the extra vitamins that the night cream offers, rather than the SPF protection and so that you get from day creams.
Best city for a healthy holiday? New York - lots of outdoor activities: Central Park, Shopping and just plain sightseeing which can all be done by foot. Secondly lots of healthy options for breakfast, lunch and dinner in between the more typically American offerings of fast food.
What do you consider to be the epitome of getting away from any negative vibes? Hitting the gym - after about 15 minutes of working out hard, it’s difficult not to be in a good mood.
Favorite fitness guru? Myself, hahahah - no seriously I follow a few other fitness girls for motivation including Ciara (the singer). Secret guilty pleasure? Popcorn! I have tried, but just can’t stay away from it when it’s cinema time. LOL Best gym in the world? Hmm, difficult to say, as there are many really good ones. Currently my favorite gym is Fit Republic at Sports City, Dubai - they have amazing offerings covering everything from regular fitness to MMA. One of life’s little luxuries? Japanese food - dining at some of the best Japanese restaurants – such as at Nobu, Zuma or Okku. Most favorite piece-of- mind therapy? Sleep. LOL - otherwise painting. I love to paint.

Wash off... Shake off... Jump off... By Reem Salem
THE ADRENALINE AND STRESS OF AN ADVENTURE ARE BETTER THAN A THOUSAND PEACEFUL DAYS.― PAULO COELHO. Are you suffering from the subtle malaise of the modern world?! Are you too stressed to enjoy any of life’s offerings? Always having too much on your plate; another deadline, another chore, another unpaid bill, unwashed laundry, and a million push notifications to reply to; not to mention the everyday activities that keep you functioning!! Everyone responds to stress in a different way: sleeping too much or too little, binging on TV, crying, screaming, road raging, chewing fingernails down to the nub, or eating; eating; and eating!! Well, don’t get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life! So here are some uplifting activities to help you in your journey to tranquility!
Walk It Off / Hike It Off! So if stress comes knocking, you’re depressed, or feeling low; just PAUSE! Going away on a short holiday or a mini weekend trip can work wonders. So ward off the stress of those urban crowds, noise and traffic by putting on your sport shoes and taking a hike. Just imagine yourself waking up at dawn, on top of a mountain, the sun appearing through a valley in a distant mountain range, and you climb as much as you can and watch the sunrise from the mountain’s peak. In my opinion, hiking allows us to reset our internal noise and return with clearer thoughts and calmer spirit. Nature truly does have the power to help us unwind; we just need to embrace it!
Shake It Off / Pole It Off!
, So you think you can’t dance? There s no right or wrong way to shake it off. Forget about if you’re any good and just let loose. Say it loudly “I can do it!”, and THHHHHEN dance like nobody is watching. Shake it.. just shake that stress off! Pole dancing is a trending dance exercise that involves swinging around a fixed pole. Some consider it an erotic kind of exercise but it’s a miracle stress reliever; promoting positive self-esteem, initiating selfcontrol, improving mental health, and diminishing signs of depression. A pole dancer once said, «some days I swear pole dancing class is the only thing that clears my head and makes me smile again.” It is such a natural rush to work hard and finally make your body obey!

Wash It Off / Surf It Off! While there’s no clear reason why immersing yourself in water is a great way to reduce stress; a sea or an ocean work best, but a lake, stream or pond work well too. And one of the most thrilling ways to enjoy the beautiful waters that is not widely available in our side of the planet but totally worth giving it a try is surfing! Some people consider surfing as a form of attitude dancing. And if you ask any surfer about it, they all agree on one thing: it’s the best reliever ever! “Oh man, it makes me feel recovered and a little bit cleansed “are the words of an avid sufferer. Gosh what a feeling! So next time you plan a getaway; consider a place with high waves, take a surf board and wash your worries away!
Jump It Off / Bungee It Off! Bungee jumping is a really cool activity, as long as you’re a spectator. However, when it’s your turn to jump, there is such bizarre blend of terror and uncontrollable excitement. I think overcoming the fear here is the real reason why you do it…. WHEEEEEEEEEE!! At first, maybe, you are gonna hesitate and ask yourself «Should I jump, or should I wait until someone pushes me, or should I just give it all up and say NO I CANT DO IT!! I promise you friend, once you take the plunge, and do it; your head will be going from “what’s the @*^#” to “that’s awesome man” in a few seconds!! Just jump out with confidence, bounce back up in sheer exhilaration, and feel the thrill on the edge!!
60
We all get stressed out, but sometimes what’s weighing us down is not ours to carry. Just shove the stress off; you›re so much stronger than you think you are! Give those freeing activities a shot and get your mood back on track. Break-up with stress and commit to what makes you thrilled. And remember: you can always do anything yet not everything, so just CHILL and BE HAPPY! 61

Happily Ever After
YOU COME FIRST By Sarah Osman
D
oes this sound like an arrogant title? Well, maybe! But maybe it’s what you gotta do from now on… you focus on YOU! We often limit our capabilities to “dependence”; depending on someone to make us happy, to make us complete. We limit our happy moments to being with that someone! However, regardless of other people’s opinions, the most important is you! Just go ahead, value yourself, and listen to no one. You are precious and your existence makes a difference to the world.
“Commitment is nice but we must also be wise”
THERE IS NO STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO MAKING ANY RELATIONSHIP WORK BUT THERE MIGHT BE SOME GENERAL GUIDELINES TO HELP YOU TREASURE YOURSELF IN THE ROAD TO A SUCCESSFUL ONE.
Be yourself Don’t let your loved one have control over your life. Don’t let them control your actions, the way you talk with others or deal with situations. You should both accept each other the way you are.
You should come first Don’t forget your life goals, your talents, your hobbies. Don’t let the commitment be your only pursuit. Every relationship is full of splendor at the beginning, but along the way you’ll be feeling the glow toning down. And you’ll start feeling uncomfortable with being a different you. Love yourself first to spread love to others. Your loved one should accept you and believe in you. If they are really true lovers, they would be your real motivators to fulfill your dreams and passions.
Don’t take love for granted Always renew your relationship. Be best friends rather than lovers. Don’t keep criticizing the way your partner is now; remember the traits that first attracted you to them. Love needs two people who are ready to make sacrifices and reach compromises together. It takes two to tango mi amigo :)
Don’t make your partner your only priority. If you made them the only spot of light in your life, you might end up all alone at any moment. You might even feel lonely when you are still in the relationship! You have to surround yourself with people who give you strength. Build your social life together. You’re partners so no one should be having the lead over the other.
70
Actions speak louder Don’t be deceived by the heaps of romantic words and big promises to make you the happiest on earth. If your partner doesn’t show it by actions, it’s a troubled relationship full of empty promises and breakable words.
Don’t ignore the signs Sometimes we ignore certain signs that indicate that we took the wrong decision when it came to choosing our partner. We put up with the relationship because we got used to it, and got so attached to the person that we give up on what we feel we deserve deep inside. Listen to that inner voice that says “maybe this partner isn’t the right one for me”. It’s not there for no reason, you know.
Respect your differences Don’t challenge your natural differences. Men have more masculine strength, but also women have their emotional powers. Both of you complete each other’s existence.

ADDING STYLE to The

Lazy Francis’s Creative Mind
Olga Kruze
Twinkle, Twinkle little star, wondering what to dress your adorable stars?! Lazy Francis, the luxury childrenswear brand that brings vibrancy and elegance to your little darlings _making them appear even cuter than they are, has the answer for you! As life doesn’t come with a manual, it comes with a mother; Olga Kruze _ the Creative Director at Lazy Francais, started her fashion career after having her baby girl who inspired her to create such polished yet affordable kid garms! So let’s check out how this powerful mama punched her way to success and what couture means to our endearing little angels!
How did you discover your passion for fashion? , I wasn t really planning to have a career in fashion. This was one of those “should I try” life changing moments! When my daughter was born, I couldn’t find any original --but not ridiculously overpriced outfits-- for her that would fit with a busy social lifestyle, so I decided to create a brand that mums like me could rely on to always have some new, creative and not-like-every-single-other-kid-on-the-block options. Why did you choose to specialize in kids couture? I would not really call our main line couture. Although we have a special line that caters to stars and red-carpet events, majority of our clothes are made for simple occasions and social happenings like birthday parties, weddings, or simply going to the theatre, i.e. everyday stylish outings. Who is your primary audience, and what do you think keeps them coming back to you? Although we cater to girls and boys from 1 till 16 years old, our key audience are girls aged between 4 and 9. They love brave colour combinations and to stand out from the crowd. They enjoy the feeling they get hearing feedback from their friends and family when they wear a Lazy Francis dress! How different is it designing for kids and designing for adults? It’s very different. I know I can’t design for adults even though I very often get asked by mums wanting to “have it in their size”! The best way forward in that case would be to collaborate with an adult, and create something different that would encompass both worlds. What have been your keys to success? Working hard - there is no other way! Also making mistakes and learning from them. Cinderella’s story is great but there are no fairy godmothers in the fashion industry :)
78
Do you follow fashion trends or do you work from your own inspiration? Just my own inspiration! Trends change every 5 minutes, true style means that every dress will look just as fashionable today as it will in 20 years when a girl passes it to her daughter.
Fashion trends that never go out of date for kids? , I don t believe in fashion trends for kids. Kids fashion is all about the kids themselves, not the net-a-porter view on what’s on-trend this month!
The most beautiful thing that has ever inspired you? I get inspired by people; rarely by things. Real friendship and unconditional love are what inspires me the most.
Where in the world is the best place for shopping for the little fashionistas? Online is a whole fashion world these days - ChildrenSalon online store is definitely the best place to shop, although Milan and Paris are pretty amazing too :)
Fashion item that, you think, make the look stand out, for both boys and girls? A shirt with bow tie. Which is more important: being stylish or feeling comfortable? Definitely comfortable. With kids, it is very straight forward as it is almost impossible to make them wear what is NOT comfortable; they will remember the garment and next time refuse to wear it.
Do you have outlets in the MENA region, any plans for stores in Egypt? Not at the moment, but we are always on the lookout for great partnerships. Children wardrobe staples for travelling? That depends a lot on the child’s age. At the age of 4-7, it is pretty normal for the girl to take princess dresses to beach holidays. Afterwards, they pretty much copy their mum’s or elder sister’s style wanting to look all grown up. Boys are easier at all ages.
Up-Close & Personal Your most favourite model? If we are talking about Lazy model then it’s Nika, if in general then Linda Evangelista. Your shopping guilty pleasure? Big Mac and spending way too much on evening vintage dresses and antiques, preferably at the same time ;) Best view in the world? The view from London Eye Ferris Wheel. I’m in love with the city! One of life’s little luxuries? 2 days off with the phone switched off. Your favourite piece-of-mind therapy? Spending a few days with my family on the country side or spring cleaning my house.

For Flawless ESCAPE !!
Some of us gents like to see the world before we settle, to marvel at the splendid things the world has to offer! Whether going as a lone wolf or with a companion, every guy needs to have these essentials stored in his suitcase to make his trip a whole lot convenient!
A Map Let’s face it, technology isn’t always that reliable and you’re more than likely to use up your phone battery taking pictures or texting your girlfriend _who’s mad at you for not taking her with you on your getaway ;) Investing in a map goes a long way and helps you not to have to ask for directions, and we all know us guys hate asking for directions!!
Deodorant Yes, let’s get the embarrassment out of the way. Going on a getaway usually means quite a bit of walking and going from one place to another, which can result in quite some sweat! So do yourself (and everyone else) a favor and carry a small deodorant with you while you’re out there.
A Notebook
Not necessarily for the purpose of being a travel diary, more like your handy memoir for everywhere you went and everywhere you want to go. Sometimes the simplest things to carry around end up being the most important on your retreat.
Bandage Now us macho guys like to think we’re invincible. Unfortunately, we’re not! And if your getaway involves any kind of activities like mountain climbing or sand surfing, or even going swimming in the beach; a small cut or bruise can ruin your vacation. So make sure you carry that extra bandage with you to keep it from getting infected. Maybe add antiseptic and a pain killer as well. It always helps being a little prepared.

A Macho Thing
Camera Wherever you’re heading, you’re going to want to capture the moment. And while a phone cam can be handy for a quick catch, it’s the beautiful moments you want to preserve and share. And what better way to do that than with your own camera!
A Pocket Knife: No, you’re not going to stab anyone on that escape of yours, but there can be plenty of practical uses for pocket knives, whether it’s for carving, opening a package or taking down a killer shark! Well maybe not that last one, but it’s a handy tool to keep with you.
A Pouch
Pretty sure you’re thinking about those funny looking waist packs your dad used to wear. Well, no! Think more like an Indiana Jones style pouch. They come very handy when you need to carry your small essentials without needing to walk around with a backpack.
Disposable Razors Hotel Razors aren’t always the best and using them can cause rash or allergies. Stay on the safe side and store in your pouch a couple of well-made disposable razors that you can use just about anywhere. Just make sure you rinse with some water first.
A Flashlight Carrying a small flashlight can go a long way. If you’re lost or it’s dark out; or if you’re heading somewhere not around city lights, the flashlight will come very handy. It helps you see where you’re going and read that map you’re carrying around. Sure you can always use your phone but you need that battery to stay in touch.
Sunglasses Those shades are pretty essential for any trip out in the sun! Having sunglasses is indispensible for such global-warming are we’re living in. Add to that the benefit of looking adventurously stylish! Have those dark glasses hanging on your shirt and you’re on your way to being Mr. Charm.

Work Nomads By Sue Ryan
a Getaway for Life.
Travel is not a reward for working, it is education for living. You can make your whole life a Getaway, including your work! In a place like Australia, long trips are normal; getaways can be three months to a year. This is because Australians grow up so far from anywhere else and experience other countries by reading about them and seeing them on TV, so once they finish education they want to escape the big island and see the world. Me, being Australian myself, I had short getaways each year, until I fell in love with Egypt _on my first visit in the early 1990s. I decided that one day I would live here! I expected that would be when I am retired.. But the internet, mobile phones and digital cameras made it possible for me to move to Egypt earlier than I had planned. Now, I can write and photograph, and send my pieces to magazines anywhere. The internet has changed my life and the lives of million other people; people who are now known around the world as ‘Digital Nomads’.
Who are the Digital Nomads? Traditionally, nomadic tribes wandered searching for new hunting grounds or feeding areas for their domesticated animals. Digital Nomads, however, don’t move following sources of food. They move to experience the world, and they take their work with them; thanks to mobile phones, laptops and tablets. They may even wander about just carrying a USB; using cloud computing to store and share their work. They can offer their services freelance or run a business almost anywhere!
82
Why become a Digital Nomad? Being a digital nomad gives you the luxury of experiencing a city or country slowly and more deeply than you would on a brief getaway. As Rolf Potts explains, “The value of your travels does not hinge on how many stamps you have in your passport the slow nuanced experience of a single country is always better than the hurried, superficial experience of forty others. People in many creative fields from writing to architecture, music to fashion design, project management, accounting, and other fields that would normally require office space in a big city, can now move from place to place for the projects they choose to work on or to create their own businesses. They can indulge in the excitement of a city they always wanted to visit and stay longer in. They could be in one continent or city today, and another tomorrow. They get to choose their own working hours which gives them more time to explore, experience and enjoy the new environment. Even if you want to get away from city life completely, you can. You can be based on the far side of the desert in an oasis or with the sea at your doorstep as I have been! Some people choose to be digital nomads for a few years, others chose this as their way of life. In online networks such as DigitalNomadsAroundTheWorld & DigitalNomadGirls; discussing possibilities of work, running business, and life generally in different locations are much easier now.

Co-Working Spaces
The one challenge of working solo can be that you miss human interaction. Being able to discuss ideas is just not as spontaneous over the internet as it is sitting together and really getting to know people. With the growth in number of people on permanent getaways, co-working spaces are now in demand. These are places where digital nomads can gather. They provide IT needs, refreshments, and are often set in beautiful environments. You still work by yourself but you are not alone, and this can be motivating! A big reason to use co-working spaces is that you don’t need to search the whole city or town for somewhere open all hours with reliable Wi-Fi & mobile reception, printing facilities, and even conference rooms. Co-working spaces may also provide local accommodation and arrange tours for digital nomads to get to know their new, temporary home. An excellent example for a co-working space in Egypt is CoworkInn. In previous decades nomads; the Bedouin and then the hippies and scuba divers, had considered Dahab their homeland. Now the beauty of the Red Sea and Sinai mountains attract digital nomads! Dahab has long been a haven for diverse nationalities, making it a perfect location for co-working spaces where freelancers, startups and other digital nomads come together.
Co-working offers nomads the benefits of building their network, finding talented people to work with, and opportunities to hire and be hired. It improves productivity; because when you see other professionals working, especially away from the big city, it is easier to focus. Add in the advantages of cozy areas, a roof deck, a pool and ocean view, and you may never want to leave. Some coworking spaces arrange events such as potluck parties _where people can present their ideas, camps _where they get to develop their skills or learn new ones (e.g. Film Camps and Landscape Photography), and other activities for personal development.

The Van Travel
Laptops and tablets made it easy to take your office with you, but why not also take your accommodation?! This is something not done by many in Egypt but is very popular in other places. It’s where you pack up a van, including tent extension, and drive from beach to beach or city to city! Many digital nomads in Europe and the USA chose to live and work from a van. In the past you would buy and convert a van to include a sleeping area, but now if you desire even a short getaway you can call Hire A Kombi. They have a variety of vans available; perfect for those who want to escape the city, avoid monotonous hotels and stay in more out-of-the-way places; but still be comfortable. Explore their Instagram and you will see some of the possibilities for where a van getaway could take you. www.hireakombi.com. If you want more space and an outdoors getaway that’s not sacrificing comfort, consider TwilightGlamping’s glamorous camping. If your usual nomadic workplaces are at a café or by a hotel’s pool, Glamping will get you far away from the mentality of town and really clear your mind and give you space and peace. www.twilightglamping. com.au
Dahab CoworkInn, Hire A Kombi and Twilight Glamping were established by people who love to travel and who believe everyone should have the opportunity to get away. Around the world, there is an ever-growing number of small businesses like these that can help make your dream of working “on the road” come true. For me, the reasons to work nomadically and be on a permanent getaway remain the same as my reasons for recreational travel, and Pico Iyer says it best: “We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next to find ourselves!”

Takeaways From One of the top reasons we all love to watch films is that they give us chance to see places we’ve never been to, and marvel at the beauty world has to offer. Movies show us new locations that might inspire ‘getaways’ but there are also few other things to pick up from the silver screen. Here’s a list we together of the best takeaways we got from getaway movies!
the the our put
Planning Ahead
Sometimes it’s exciting to just go ahead and purchase a plane ticket and head to wherever your instinct tells you to go. While that may seem like the easier and least constrictive thing to do, planning ahead gives you the chance to actually know how to enjoy your trip; not to mention saving you from getting lost or spending your whole budget on the first day.
Movie of Reference Into the Wild.
While the main character Christopher McCandless isn’t exactly a role model, he did have a main destination and plan that made his trip all the more worthwhile. So make sure you plan where you’re going before you set off into the wild, or even the hotel.
Paper Not Plastic
Yup, that’s right. Take as much cash as your wallet can handle. While most people suggest travelling with the minimum amount of cash for the fear of being pickpocketed or tempted to buy souvenirs they don’t need, you gotta know that not everywhere takes credit cards and they’re not always reliable. So make sure to bring the big bucks before you head to that getaway.
Movie of Reference: Up in the Air
Travel Light
When you travel, do you carry your whole room with you? Now before you answer, remember every time you crammed a handbag or an extra pillow into your suitcase! Travel films show us how much easier a trip can be with light luggage. If your hotel gets overrun by aliens or killer spiders, you might want to be able to pack quickly. Just keep that in mind.
92
I recommend watching this clever film before you start packing. Check out that scene of George Clooney talking down to Anna Kendrick for packing way too many things, advising that traveling light makes the passage through the airport all the more simpler and quicker.
Movie of Reference: The Out of Towners
This hilarious movie makes it clear that not carrying enough cash can lead to a world of trouble, and a bit of a tight spot when you find out you’re all out of credit while you’re checking in to your hotel.
Dress for Where You’re Going
It’s early morning and you have a flight to catch. It’s sunny and warm now. But the moment you walk out of the airport you run right back inside, fearing that you might turn into an ice-cream cone or something. So bear in mind to check the weather forecast for the day your plane lands in that airport, and dress for the occasion.
Movie of Reference: Into the Wild
Coming back to this movie, it’s easy to say that the main character makes some regrettable decisions on his getaway. Most important of which is planning a trip to Alaska without having the right wardrobe for his destination. Don’t wanna spoil the movie for you but let’s just say he regrets it.
Have a Travel Companion
We’re not saying you shouldn’t travel alone or that you can’t enjoy a getaway by yourself. But if there’s one thing movies showed us; it’s that traveling with a friend, a family member or a partner can add a whole lot of flavor to your getaway. There’s nothing like experiencing something new for the first time, and what better way to do it than to share those unforgettable experiences with someone you enjoy spending time with!
Movie of Reference: Wild.
The best film to show that having a companion can go a long way and make your trip all the more enjoyable. The main character ends up wanting to befriend a fox after spending too much time on her own, which goes without saying that having a friend along with you is never a bad idea.
Carry a Camera
Think about it, have you ever seen a movie where the hero travels without a camera?! Well that’s probably because it’s so important for any getaway! How else would you have long lasting memories of that amazing trip you’ve had? Sure you can always use your phone but you need the battery life for when you get lost, speaking of which…
Movie of Reference: A Lot Like Love
Oliver’s love-interest Ellie knows very well why it’s important to capture every moment on a camera and that having actual photographs to keep -and not just stored on your phone- can make the trip even more memorable.
Visit Places You’ve Never Been To
Imagine this… You’re on your dream getaway and after you’re all settled in your hotel, what’s the first thing you do? You head to the nearest mall and have MacDonald’s. Now tell me that doesn’t sound crazy to you! If it does, then you’re on the safe side; but trust me, it does happen often. And those who do that come back home feeling that traveling isn’t as exciting as people claim. I wonder why, you geniuses!
Movie of Reference: Eat Pray Love
Traveling can be a soul-searching experience. This is exactly what happened to Liz Gilbert when she set off on an around-the-world journey; experiencing everything she never had before. You can never have that kind of life-changing understanding if you’re doing the same things you do at home!

Stay In The Light
Now this seems pretty clear and we don’t really need a movie to tell us we should do that, but every motion picture out there shows that it’s never a good idea to walk into that dark corner in the street or take a shortcut back to your place. Why? Because there will almost always be danger there. So save yourself the trouble and stick to places where there’s light and lots of people; better safe than robbed, or dead...
Movie of Reference: Before We Go
Brooke made the mistake of walking into a dark alley while visiting the city of Manhattan. She lost her purse in the process; which made for a very difficult trip home. If there’s a lesson to be learned here, it’s never walk on your own around a city you don’t know -after 12 am- with a Chanel purse!
Learn to Read a Map
Google Maps have forever changed traveling but phone batteries aren’t that reliable. A few photos and text messages and you’re walking around with the last 5 percent of your battery. What do you do? Open a map and find out the best route to take. Sometimes oldschool way is the way to go.
Movie of Reference: The Motorcycle Diaries
Pretty much the entire time Guevara was using a map to get to where he’s going. And the map proved to be very practical as he rode across South America!
Don’t Follow Strangers
It’s getting dark and you’re lost, you ask for directions and a local citizen offers to lead your way to where you’re going. No, just no! Never! Tell me one time you ever saw a movie when that didn’t end up really bad! So do yourself a favor, and always carry a map. Knowing where you are and where you’re heading goes a long way while you’re traveling.
Movie of Reference: Taken
You most probably heard about this movie. Two girls travel to Paris and get kidnapped after meeting a stranger and sharing a cab with him. Unless your dad is also an ex-spy who has secret-service training, I recommend keeping to yourself and not accepting every offer of help you get. Some may seem like they have good intentions but it’s better to trust a guide or a map than a stranger.

Zodiac
Astrology of Relief By Reem Salem
Unless you’re somehow reading this from another planet in the galaxy, you have probably been under some sort of strain at some point in your life. However, what stresses a Cancer out differs greatly from what burdens a Sagittarius. So here are some coping techniques that are perfect for your astrological sign, read on and start de-stressing!
ARIES
Characteristics: Aries are highly active, hard-working personalities. They love to stay busy 24/7; always running around balancing multiple projects. They suffer from stress because of their busy lifestyle as they don’t take enough time to rejuvenate. Stress – Reliever: First of all; you should learn how to relax! Take at least one day off each week to do absolutely nothing. Just replenish your energy and enjoy life at a slower pace. Yoga and physical activities such as walking, running, exercising and gardening are the right pick for you.
CANCER
Characteristics: Cancer is one of the
most sensitive signs. They’re highly emotional, yet they’re reserved; and have trouble expressing their opinions, exposing emotions and finding comfort. The stress for them comes from feeling insecure. Stress – Reliever: As a Cancer, you should practice meditation to find inner peace and feel protected. Do anything that gets your mind off your emotions and onto other people’s. Try volunteering. It makes you feel proud of yourself.
LIBRA
Characteristics: Libras can’t stand unfairness, lies and inequality. They hate confrontation and spend hours in hesitation before they finally make a decision. Stress – Reliever:Art therapy is a great way to channel your energy into creating something beautiful; while converting insights from your subconscious into real things.
SAGITTARIUS Characteristics: Sagittarius is the truth and peace seeker. They hate sitting still and love to stand out from the crowd behaving to their own standards. They’re always in motion, both physically and mentally. Stress – Reliever: When you start feeling the pressure around, go for a walk or hit the gym. Also try running, biking, swimming or whatever gets your heart pumping.
96
TAURUS Characteristics: Taurus have strong work ethics. They can’t stand breakups, work problems, failures and mistakes. They take them personally and view them as incompetence on their part. Stress – Reliever: Go a bit easier on yourself Taurus, and stop being fixated on every little thing. Meditate, focus on your personal growth, and accept the mishaps that come with it.
LEO Characteristics: Leos love the spotlight
and must be the leaders of whatever they take part in. They are so fiery and want to be on top of the world. But it’s rather unrealistic and quite unfair! Stress – Reliever: A great deal of stress for Leos comes from feeling out of control. So just take a moment, take a deep breath, and get your mind off of whatever stresses you! A pedicure or massage can do wonders.
SCORPIO
Characteristics: Scorpios have intense sensitive personalities but they hide their emotions beneath their hard scorpion shells. Stress – Reliever: Curling up with a good mystery novel or watching an exciting thriller movie would definitely help your worried mind.
AQUARIUS
GEMINI
Characteristics: Gemini are
complex people. They’re huge overthinkers who can change their minds on a whim. Their own minds are what stress them out. Stress – Reliever: For Gemini, the key to turning negative thoughts into positives is physical exercise. Consider weight lifting, swimming, running and dancing to burn off the extra energy.
VIRGO
Characteristics: Virgos are critical, assertive, prudent and a bit selfish. They strive to be the best in every aspect of life, and get angry and depressed when someone is a bit better than they are. Stress – Reliever: Meditation and deep-breathing techniques can ease the stress. Also try to put your thoughts and ideas on paper. And of course exercise to avoid stiff muscles and joints.
CAPRICORN
Characteristics: Capricorns are too hard on themselves and on others. They like telling others what to do and to have everything under control. As things don’t always go according to plan, they start stressing out. Stress – Reliever: Practice hand-stand techniques. They facilitate the release of blocked energy and tensions stored in the body; then just chill!
PISCES
Characteristics: Aquarius are adventurous, smart and confident. Often leaping before looking, they don’t like to admit when they’re wrong. They can also be a bit detached emotionally.
Characteristics: Pisces are prone to stress and anxiety because they’re secretive and don’t like to be exposed. They feel their own emotions deeply and pick up on the feelings of everyone around them.
Stress – Reliever: You can gain clarity with soothing activities such as knitting, gardening and walking. Joining a yoga or meditation group might be a good choice too.
Stress – Reliever: Remember to take time for yourself to recharge your batteries. A hot tub or Jacuzzi can be of great help. Also all forms of creative expression, like drawing and writing, would help you process whatever it is you’re experiencing.
