31 Ghanaian-Canadians Honored at Glittering Awards Night in Toronto By Dr. Michael Baffoe, Toronto
The 13 th edition of the prestigious GhanaianCanadian Achievement Aw a r d s N i g h t w a s held at the Clairport Banquet Hall in Toronto on Sunday September 22, 2013. Thirty-one Ghanaian-Canadians from various fields of endeavor from across Canada were honoured for their achievements in their various fields. These were in the fields of Professional Excellence, High Academic Achievements, Business Promotion, Community Service, Cultural Promotion, Sports, Entertainment and Music. The event was attended by
a number of community members and a good turn-out of business and political leaders from the Federal, Provincial and Municipal levels of government. Also represented as usual were representatives from the Toronto Police and York Regional Police Departments. Among the many dignitaries were The Fairness Commissioner of Ontario, Dr. Jean Augustine, York West MP, Judy Sgro, Scarbourough-Agincourt MP, Jim Karygianis and Etobicoke North MP, Kirsty Duncan. “Without an Economic base, there is no political power”-Amankrah From Joe Kingsley Eyiah, Toronto The Ghanaian community in Toronto, and for that matter the African Community at large, have been called upon to teach our young ones employable skills that will give them sustainable wealth. This clarion call was made by Mr Joseph K. Amankrah, a mechanical engineer and a community activist, when he delivered this year’s keynote address at the 13th Annual Ghanaian Canadian Achievement Awards night on
