Admissions Associate Dean of Admissions
Dr. Gina N. Duncan joined the Medical College of Georgia faculty in 2010 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior. She was appointed Associate Dean for Admissions for the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Regents University in October, 2012. Dr. Duncan received her B.S. in Chemistry from Hampton University in Hampton, VA and her M.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC. Gina N. Duncan, MD She completed her internship and residency at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH)/McLean Hospital Adult Psychiatry Residency Program in Boston, MA. In her fourth year of residency she served as Chief Resident of Psychotherapy in the MGH outpatient clinic, and was a recipient of the American Psychiatric Association (APA)/SAMHSA Minority Fellowship. Dr. Duncan has served on the APA’s Council on Communications and as a blogger on the APA’s www.HealthyMinds.Org website. As an adult psychiatrist, Dr. Duncan’s clinical focus is on the use of individual psychotherapy and medication management for the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders. She is active in resident education as a supervisor in the Health Behavior resident clinic, and is a member of the Psychiatry Residency Education, Selection, and Promotions Committees. Additionally, she serves as the psychiatrist on the GRU Department of Psychiatry Project G.R.E.A.T. (Georgia Recovery-Based Educational Approach to Treatment) team. Dr. Duncan’s areas of special interest are disparities in health and achievement that disproportionately affect underserved communities, strength-based approaches to building resilience, and contributing to the development of a culturally competent and exceptionally qualified physician workforce. Her research interests are in faith- and community-based approaches to addressing disparities in mental health. Dr. Duncan is married to Dr. Michael B. Duncan, II, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Medicine at GRU. They have two young daughters.
