Welcome Letter Dear Class of 2017, Welcome to the Jaguar Nation! I am thrilled that you have chosen to spend the next four years of your life with us and I look forward to the opportunity to get to know you better. Your decision to live in University Village brings with it many opportunities, including the University Village Connections Program. As new freshmen who live on campus, you are part of a living-learning program: University Village Connections. UNIV1000: University Orientation is a required course for the University Village Connections Program. UNIV1000 is a life-skills course, meaning the concepts we study will assist you in transitioning to the university, being academically and socially successful in your college years, and prepare you to be successful in life after graduation. Although the first classroom session of UNIV1000 begins on August 19, as new freshmen in this course, you are required to participate in Retreat Week beginning August 12. Retreat Week is designed to provide academic sessions and community building opportunities for you to begin the course early. By participating in Retreat Week the UNIV1000 course will finish prior to Thanksgiving break, which will free up 3 hours per week for you to focus on studying for your final exams and successful completing term papers. I look forward to getting to know you and to watching you make your mark as a Jaguar the next four years! Sincerely,

Liz Trotter UV Connections Program Coordinator
