VIETNAM visits CAMBODIA Exposure Trip of Vietnam Delegations to Cambodia to Learning Experiences and Practices in Implementing Disability Mainstreaming with Community Based Rehabilitation Approach to Apply Cambodia Lesson Learnt to World Vision Vietnam’s Enabling Disability Mainstreaming (EMD) Disability Sector Development in Cambodia is well-known locally and internationally through putting high efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia base on its presenting and sharing experiences, best practices and technical mechanisms on disability development internationally. Consequently, there are neighboring countries as well as the world want to learn the experiences on inclusion of disabilities into National Strategic Development Plan, and local authorities’ development plan as well as NGOs and private sector. On Jan 09-15, 2011, exposure trip of Vietnam Delegations to Cambodia was aimed to: - Learn about law, policies and other legal frame work at national level and the way of monitoring and evaluation of implementation of those policies. - Collaboration between local authority with DPOs and SHGs within community level - Vocational training for persons with disabilities in Cambodia - Education for children with disabilities including children with intellectual disabilities - Establishment of DOPs, Commune Development Committee for persons with disabilities, SHGs and its functioning including sustainability - Income generation activities of persons with disabilities at rural area - Care of children with disabilities including children with ID Objective To learn about the experiences and practices in implementing disability mainstreaming with community-based rehabilitation (CBR) approach so that to apply for lessons learnt to WVV’s Enabling Disability Mainstreaming (EMD) Project in 3 ADP in Central Vietnam. A delegation of Vietnam composed of 6 people from local authority, representative of persons with disabilities and world vision Vietnam. The visit was organized by Disability Action Council (DAC). Base on above aim and objective, DAC has recommend to Vietnam that they should meet and visit to ADD, CDMD, TASK, JCIA and Rabbit School and field visit at the community was arranged to 2 districts (Samrong tong and Uddong) of Kampong Speu province where is the target area of ADD and 2 districts (Samrong and Bati) of Takeo province where is the target area of CDMD. At the final day of the visit a reflection meeting was organized to discuss about findings and recommendation as well as future collaboration between the two countries Vietnam and Cambodia. The meeting was agreed to have a trip visit of Cambodia delegation back to Vietnam within this year.
