02 BREAK THE CUBE LANDSCAPE DESIGN & CIVIC PARK Shanghai, China Individual Work Advisor: Qinhe Qian Date: 9/2018-11/2018

As the main force under the expansion of China's metropolis, white-collar workers are rushing around at work, spending a lot of time in monotonous building boxes, bearing all aspects of mental stress and suffering physiological subhealth. Urban open space is the place where they are in desperate demand. They need to release pressure on this open space to seek a healthier modern urban life. The thirst for nature dominates the concept of this design, trying to break the rigid fold line with smooth curves. The overall reconstruction of the natural landscape will bring the diverse, fresh and lively senses to the office workers.

03 BATTERY PARK AUSTIN WILDLIFE CONSERVATION & LANDSCAPE PLANNING Austin, USA Group Work bats & site analysis, architecture design, perspective 2020 LA+ CREATURE COMPETITION Date: 09/2020-11/2020

The present public health and infectious disease crisis reignited and stoked distrust toward bat species globally as undesirable creatures to be feared as disease vectors, causing backsliding of progress that bat conservation advocates have been championing for decades. Ironically, in a time when humans are increasingly shifting activities outdoors, and while reliance on pest-free agriculture is even more critical for food security, the Mexican Free-Tailed Bat (Tadarida brasiliensis, TABR) is providing substantial assistance in reducing insect populations in farmland and urban centers across the southern United States. Now, this design will capture the attention and hearts of Austin citizens and visitors so that they might view these creatures as fellow residents of the cityscape.

04 QUARRY SANATORIUM LANDSCAPE PLANNING-ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION SUZHOU, CHINA Group Work site analysis, plan, plants, detail design Advisor: Hongfei Qiu Date: 06/2017-06/2017

The site is located in the center of Taihu Lake, which is an abandoned quarry surrounded by factory town living with heavey aged and disabled population. Long history of quarrying casuses huge damage to the ecology of the moutain and nature surface. And these mining and smelting plants are common in the taihu lake region. After the quarries closed, the elders and disabled people were left here and isolated with people outside the island. We try to restore ecosystem and create new function in it. To cure these two scars, we transform the quarry into sanatorium to meet the urgent demand of elders' life.

05 REKINDLE THE CHIMNEY URBAN DESIGN - POSTINDUSTRY RENOVATION JINGDEZHEN, CHINA Individual Work Advisor: Mengyuan Xu Date: 02/2018-06/2019 The Excellent Graduation Design of HZAU, Top 5%

This project is located in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province, which is the millennium porcelain capital, but industrial reforming resulted to economic depression and population loss. I choose the urban wasteland of an old porcelain factory, where used to be the most famous place, and the biggest procelain company over the country. Recharging the place to be an new culture hub for people to celebrate local events, memory history, and enjoy new life. This design model also can be apply to other post-industrial sites, to strenghthen the relationship between new urban development, also interrelate with green infrastructures in large scale.

06 REDEFINE SAIGON RIVER BANK LANDSCAPE DESIGN - SUSTAINABLE PLANNING HO CHI MINH , VIETNAM Individual Work Advisor: Hong Li Date: 11/2017-04/2018

While we were doing this design, we focused on a new landscape type of inhabitable landscape. The site is located on the riverbank of Ho Chi Minh City. There are some places that are not suitable for human survival, owing to severe flooding issue. Meanwhile, government doesn’t have enough money for equal development in the city, many of the poor groups turned out to have to live in the urban fringe area. The poor groups directly be influenced when the flood occurs in the city. To reduce the vicious circle caused by this gap between rich and poor, we choose to use the advantage of local living environment to improve the water condition and people’s life.

07 WEAVING INTERBAY URBAN DESIGN - HOUSING TYPOLOGY SEATTLE,USA Group Work anlysis, model, plan, render Advisor: Dean Almy Date: 09/2019-12/2019

Interbay is in urgent demand of a transformation from industrial to adapt to the growth of the city of Seattle. By regarding the site, to take a divided, and in many ways uni-dimensional industrial space, and hybridize it by adding a variety of housing, retail, greenspace, all while expanding the industrial footprint of the area. we intended to create both more livable space and provide more connecting opportunities around the site. Being conscious of the sites history and where it might go in the future, we have created a water and landscape driven system that integrates phytoremediation and the movement of water with the intent to bring ecosystem services to the front of mind.
