ELIE SAAB HYMNE A LA VIE

A

new dawn. Each woman blossoms and comes into her own. She stands strong and in bold difference to the surrounding arid landscape, exuding a passionate femininity and brave inner mystic. Her gaze is piercing and resolutely looking out into a horizon of infinite possibility. She knows there are many paths to take and is eager to be on her way.

The ELIE SAAB Ready-to-Wear Spring-Summer 2021 embodies the spirited woman as she awakens from seclusion. The collection is inspired by the renewing power of re-emergence and speaks to a fierce feminine that is soft and organic and, at the same time, daring and adventurous. Each woman wears such contradiction in distinct looks that confidently carry her from day into evening. Classical light celadon blue and blush pinks dresses and pantsuits are made edgy with abstract embroidered translucent tulle with beaded accents. A clean white jumpsuit is embellished with ruffled feathers adding volume, texture and excitement. Full sequin salmon jumpsuit and black pantsuit catch the light and glisten with smarts and determination. Every woman knows very well who she and is unapologetic of her bold self-expression. She demands attention. A vibrant grass green kaftan moves carefree with a seductive thigh-high slit. Large floral prints bloom onto chiffon, organza and tulle. A modest mini-jacquard knee-length skirt and high collared blouse move in contrast to cheerful ruffled bursts of lemon yellow and bougainville fuchsia. There is a piece for every personality, a line for every figure and a colour for every disposition. As they blaze forward, the women come together in a subtle celebration of their diversity, giving way to a striking collectivity. Long caped sleeves, rushed ruffled trimmings and 48 | Lookbook Magazine December 2020

dramatic trains seamlessly flow with the melody of their united movement. Some women embellish their looks with ELIE SAAB monogrammed handbags for practicality, large square-rimmed mirror frames for a bit of mystery and golden leather swirled flats for more ease. The signature ELIE SAAB waistline belt is the final accentuation of every individual silhouette. In the ELIE SAAB Ready-to-Wear Spring-Summer 2021, not one woman is the same nor wants to be.

ARUICCI is a New York jewelry brand launched in 2009 by Lauren Ruicci. The brand mixes the codes of luxury with punk and playful inspirations. Following its huge success, she decided in 2019 to expand her universe into Men’s and Women’s ready-to-wear in collaboration with her long-time friend Cem Cinar, who is appointed artistic director of the collections.

This ready to wear line is an extension of the offbeat world of LARUICCI. Inspired by club culture and classic outflits, the collection blends technical tailoring techniques and draped shapes. Expressive luxury while staying underground, LARUICCI ready-towear is a 24/7 party and the designs aim to unleash the most brave version of yourself. Lauren Ruicci refined her lifelong love of embellishment and adornment during the years she spent in Italy, where she studied Fashion Design and Art History at Academia Italiana, and then at Polimoda in Florence. Upon her return to New York, Lauren began assisting Italian Vogue contributing editor & legendary stylist Patti Wilson. This exposure inspired Lauren to create her own collection of jewelry under the name LARUICCI. With designs blending a hazy fog of Berlin Nightclubs, LA house parties, Paris runways, and Tokyo dive bars LARUICCI is timeless. Continued inspiration from international clientele & collaborations worldwide can be found across the expansive collection of unique accessories. For ten years, LARUICCI has been a part of countless projects featuring artists like Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Janelle Monáe and fashion legends like Christie Brinkley & Pat Cleveland. Together with Cem Cinar, Lauren Ruicci launched the debut collection of the New York brand with a presentation in Paris and a show during New York Fashion Week. The LARUICCI collection stands on a constant duality between wearability and experiment. Technical details reinforce the straightforward attitude and eclectic look of the collection.

“My soul etched into my heart and home.” What defines a Motoguo girl? Who paints the character of ’It’? This season, Motoguo tells the story of how everyone, everything evokes something deep inside us, be it a keepsake, personal gems or just knick-knacks. They narrate our past, emphasise on the current and foretell our future. ’It’ is formless yet definitive, anything but everything — it is what it is. “She is whole when she has a home.” The 80s vibes. Sailor Moon off-duty looks. Random collection of vintage buttons.Mismatched colours and patterns. The usual favourites which makes up ‘It’.

“My first fashion inspiration came from the 80s, when i looked to the magazines“Mode,C’est Belge”. My mother’s classic couture training also influenced me in my love for clothes. Ephrussie in Cap Ferrat, music lovers and art collectors gathered for Mosaic’s second art and music evening. Pianist Tatiana Smelova played a programme of Beethoven, Chopin and Franck, and the art on show featured five stunning works by leading Japanese contemporary artist, Yayoi Kusama. This was the first time that Kusama’s work was shown in the Cote D’Azure, and was a wonderful opportunity to see her jewel like pieces close up without the usual throngs at Kusama’s shows. Mosaic co-founder and art director Dorian Jabri, who also deals in modern and contemporary art, said: “The pumpkins and infinity works are classic Kusamas and it was wonderful to have Kusama collectors in the audience, as well as those for whom the works proved to be a new discovery. We intend bringing more of her work to this part of France as there’s clearly an appetite from both seasoned collectors and investors for her work.” Kusama lives in Japan and is still producing works, even at

Philanthropists celebrate raising €1.3million at Monaco charity events

T

here was cause for celebration as well as social distancing in Monaco this weekend as renowned philanthropists, John Caudwell and Modesta Vzesniauskaite hosted their annual charity cycle ride and gala dinner, raising a record-breaking €1.3million for UK-based charity, Caudwell Children.

Held entirely outdoors, the two annual events have both been masterminded by former professional cyclist, Modesta, and were able to go ahead thanks to extensive collaboration with venues and the local health authorities to ensure the most up-to-date social distancing and infection control measures were followed. Following the two successful events, when asked about the highlight of the weekend Mr Caudwell commented: “The real highlight was that we were able to pull it off at all. With Caudwell Children’s UK face-to-face fundraising events all cancelled this year due to the pandemic, Modesta and I were determined that, regulations permitting, the Monaco events would go ahead. But right up until the last minute, there was uncertainty, so we are delighted that they were able to go ahead and ultimately be extremely successful thanks to everyone that came and supported us.” On Friday 25th September a group of 38 cyclists, including UK cycling legend and previous BBC Sports Personality of the Year, Mark Cavendish, set off for a gruelling 85km one-day sponsored ride set against the picturesque backdrop of the Cote D’Azur and tackling some of the region’s mountainous terrain before descending into the port of Monaco to celebrate their achievements. While the riders basked in the French autumn sunshine, a group of dedicated charity supporters also completed the distance in a ‘virtual’ bike ride in their homes and offices in the UK. In total the 50 cyclists raised an impressive €257,000 in sponsorship from the challenge. Former Olympic cyclist, Modesta Vzesniauskaite, said: “John and I met through cycling and it is one of greatest loves. To combine this with our greatest passion, helping charity, gives us great joy and we are so grateful to everyone who took part both here in Monaco and back in the UK and raised such a fantastic amount of money for Caudwell Children.” Following the cycling, attention turned to the outdoor terrace at the luxurious Monte Carlo Bay Hotel where on Saturday 26th September 100 guests joined John and Modesta under the stars for an evening of exquisite hospitality, entertainment and fundraising. Among the glamorous guests in attendance were the British entrepreneur Duncan Bannatyne with wife Nigora, Mark Cavendish and renowned Monaco resident and philanthropist, Sergey Egorov. Entertainment came courtesy of the NuArt dancers, DJ Benjamin K, magician Nicolas Clement and singers, Marielle and The Trobadours but the highlight of the evening was the fundraising auction. Orchestrated by Simon du Pury, auction lots including holidays in Whistler, California, fine art and a week on board the Superyacht Titania received a flurry of bids as guests demonstrated their immense generosity at a time when Caudwell Children’s support for disabled children is needed more than ever. Sponsored by Arctic World Club, Burgess Yachts and Edmond de Rothschild; in total the two fundraising events raised an impressive €1,302,428 with every penny being used to directly support disabled children in the UK with vital support. Charity CEO, Trudi Beswick, who sent an emotional video message which was played on the night said: “We are overwhelmed, both by John and Modesta’s unrelenting commitment and support, and by the generosity of the guests at the Ball and riders who took part in the cycle challenge. This success comes at a time when disabled children and families are feeling more isolated and afraid than ever before, and when it has not been possi ble to deliver our usual calendar of fundraising events. The supporters of these events have literally been a lifeline to Caudwell Children, and allowed us to continue being a lifeline to the families we support. We are so incredibly grateful.” Caudwell Children is a national children’s charity based in the UK, founded in 2000 by John Caudwell and led by CEO, Trudi Beswick since the very beginning the charity has supported over 55,000 disabled children with 653 different medical conditions. In 2019 they officially opened the Caudwell International Children’s Centre, the UK’s first independent purpose-built facility for the assessment, intervention and research of autism. Chairman Emeritus, John Caudwell, remains the charity’s most passionate supporter and personally donates the charity’s administration and management overheads each year, enabling 100% of all direct donations to be spent directly on the children and families they support. For more details or to support Caudwell Children visit www.caudwellchildren.com or follow them on social media.
