DOLCE VITA

by Silvia Kleist Exclusive Interview

How was the brand Silvia Kleist born ? I started my Brand after moving to London in 2015. Prior to that I worked for label & brand Etienne Aigner (aignermunich.de), where I designed and produced the whole collection for Japan, Korea, Austria, Switzerland, UK & Germany. At the same time, I have successfully created dresses for the Red Carpet, working for the brand Black Carpe in Hamburg – the city where I was born. What is fashion for you? To me Fashion empowers Women. I design clothes for special moments, moments that remain unforgettable. Every dress for me tells a story and stays in the memory of women once they’ve worn that perfect dress. I believe that a dress accentuates the beauty of a Woman. How has fashion changed after Covid in your opinion? Not to mention the financial impact this Pandemic has caused to our purchasing power, and how it reduced the number of special occasions worldwide, it certainly enhanced the memory of special moments that we cherish. Most importantly, we currently see reduced publice xposure to Fashion, be it on the hotspots or celebrations, and sharply shifted this exposure to social media and online shopping. Which styles represent your collection, and who wears the brand Silvia Kleist? I like to create Classical & Feminine dresses. I allocate special attention & effort to couture collections using Silk fabrics. All dresses are designed using natural fabrics inspired by Art & Music! My customers are essentially beautiful and confident women who are working successfully in the entertainment Industry; from Models, Actresses, Singers or Managers & leaders in the high end fashion Industry. A few details about the colors of your collection and the material. I am creating mostly Silk dresses that are light and wrinkle-free, choosing colors we find in Fine Art & Nature. I simply adore colors. Any color can inspire us to create a special atmosphere for special moments. When wearing a colorful dress you enhance the vibes, and improve your mood. What is your favorite wardrobe item? The little Black dress will always be a good idea to wear whatever the season. What projects do you have for the near future? My plans for 2021 are a few fashion shows in Europe, presenting my dresses in Dubai and France, and being a new partner of miss contests.W Your advice for fashion victims. A fashion victim should never buy clothes because it is the trend or a hype brand. They should choose the outfit that fits them well and exposes their all-round beauty, just like what a big smile does to your face. instagram.com/silviakleist

“Ashley. Une Gitane Américaine” “Ashley. Une Gitane Américaine,” is loosely inspired by the mid-century film publicity or magazine editorial photographs of such actresses as Brigitte Bardot, Anouk Aimée and Sophia Loren. Their photos are timeless, evocative, and provocative. This theme was updated to contemporary street inspired fashion. The photo series is as much about the model, Ashley as it is the fashion. The location Barrio Historico was selected because it could be many places along the Mediterranean Sea – France, Spain, Greece. Photographe/Creative Director: C.J. Because He Loves It The purpose of the “Because he loves it.” campaign is to communicate Dora Larsen’s feminist message while combining their colorful and playful brand into the ads. The use of “domestic” objects, a reversal of traditional gender roles, and splashes of color influenced by pop art, work to achieve a humorous commentary on what a “man loves.” Dora Larsen is a brand built on the values of women owning their bodies and comfort. This campaign effectively tells the story of a woman who dresses for herself and on her terms.

ZALANDO

Zalando unites eight brands across Europe to shine a spotlight on sustainability

Berlin: July 16. 2020. Zalando SE launches a new collaboration to generate a more sustainable capsule collection, exclusive to Zalando. The Winter 2020 ‘Small steps. Big impact. by Zalando.’ capsule collection guides consumers to make more sustainable decisions when it comes to fashion, without compromising on style. After a successful launch of the first ‘Small steps. Big impact. by Zalando’ brand collaboration in January 2020, Zalando has extended the concept to include both mens and womenswear. This time, the collection has been brought to life by eight European brands; Closed, Designer’s Remix, Henrik Vibskov, Holzweiler, House of Dagmar, Mother of Pearl, Mykke Hofmann and Progetto Quid. Zalando has united some of the most creative and innovative minds from the fashion industry to create the 116-piece collection. The contributing brands, from Scandinavia, Germany, Britain and Italy, were chosen based on their values surrounding sustainability and were given a brief challenging them to generate a conscious collection under a common aesthetic, keeping a focus on using sustainably certified materials. ‘Small steps. Big impact. by Zalando.’ brings to light a constructive conversation and an intercollaborative effort between the brands to work towards a more sustainable industry. “Sustainability has become one of the most important topics for Premium designers. Ichiyo taguchi Coming from a Japanese-Korean family in Morioka, Japan, Ichiyo arrived in Paris at the age of 23. Graduating with her MFA in Design Pattern-Making at the L’ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne she would first intern at Courrèges and ChloĂŠ. Ichiyo would begin working for the historical haute couture maison Elsa Schiaparelli Under the direction of Bertrand Guyon and later Daniel Roseberry. In the beginning of 2020, she found herself returning to Japan after her mother was diagnosed with cancer. During this period, Ichiyo would suspend her projects in Paris to care for her family, while reflecting on her life and career abroad. After the loss of her mother, Ichiyo decided to once again return to Paris, seizing the unique opportunity to fund her own brand and personal project, Ichiyo. Her brand, Ichiyo, was born as a statement from her own visions of femininity. Its premier collection utilizes textures, details and layers to express a courageous attitude towards the challenges found in being a woman. Using a palette of pastel inspired colors, combined with intricate layerings of fabrics and materials Ichiyo mixes technical elements born from couture, tailoring and lingerie. The shape of each garment is carefully designed to fit and hug unique and different bodies. The resulting silhouettes are fresh, joyful and contemporary pieces designed to accompany a woman in her everyday life.
