Class Cancellation & Refund Information Withdrawals, transfers and refunds are allowed up to 10 days prior to the program start date, less a $5 administrative fee. The administrative fee does not apply when the Town initiates a class cancellation due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. In this case the full class fee will be credited back to the cusomer account. No refunds or transfers within 10 days prior to the program start date. Aquatic Centers Gilbert Pool Rules & Regulations

*Children 6 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult or responsible person (12+). *Swim suits only: no cut-off shorts, cotton shorts, or T-shirts are permitted. *All persons entering the aquatic facility must pay the entry fee-including infants (1+ yrs) and observers during public swimming sessions. *No flotation devices, except as follows: “water wings” are permitted in the pool zero depth areas only but NOT in the main pool areas. *Life jackets and water “noodles” are permitted at all facilities. *Children who are not toliet trained must wear a disposable swim diaper at all times. *We ask that all guests use the restroom and shower before entering and enjoying the pool. *Guests who are sick or ill (diarrhea, incontinent, vomiting) are asked to visit after they have recovered from their illness. *Aquatic facilities are smoke-free, including e-cigarettes. *Fecal incidents require the pool to be cleared for a minimum of 30 minutes in order to remove and treat the incident appropriately. *No alcohol or glass containers are allowed. *There are additional rules and regulations posted at each aquatic center. Please review these regulations when you visit any of our Town pools. *Pool managers and lifeguards have complete authority in the pool. Lifeguards are on duty to enforce pool rules and regulations, provide a safe environment, and respond to aquatic emergencies. It is the parent/guardian’s sole responsibilty to watch their childrent at all times.

Swim Lesson Description PARENT-TOT: (AT LEAST 6 MO BUT LESS THAN 3 YRS)

(12:1 Ratio) Designed for children to begin the process of learning basic water skills to help them become comfortable and relaxed in a swimming pool environment. This class will cover basic water adaptation, front and back float, and basic survival skills. The child must be accompanied by a paren/guardian (12+ years) in the water who will help the child adapt to the aquatic environment with an instructor’s assistance.

TADPOLES: (AT LEAST 2 1/2 BUT LESS THAN 4)

(3:1 ratio) This class is geared towards toddlers who are gaining comfort in the water and working on basic swim skills. The goal of this class is to work on the process of swimming without the parent in the water and introduce new swimming skills. This class will cover front and back float, kicks and basic survival skills. In order to pass this class, students must be at least 3 years old and be able to float independently on front and back for at least 10 seconds as well as kick independently for 5 yards. Student/Instructor ration is 3/1. This class does not involve parents/guardians in the water.

SHRIMPS (AT LEAST 3 YRS BUT LESS THAN 6)

(5:1 Ratio) Designed for a first time swimmer who is gaining comfort and confidence in the water. This is for children who cannot place their face in the water. Class focuses on the fundamentals-blowing bubbles, front float, holding their breath underwater, bobbing, and front float with kick. In order to pass this course, students must be able to float independently on front and back for at least 10 seconds as well as kick independently for 5 yards.

OTTERS (AT LEAST 3 YRS BUT LESS THAN 6)

(5:1 Ratio) Intended for children who have mastered front and back floating. In order to enroll in this course, children must be able to float on their front and back independently for 10 seconds and kick independently for 5 yards. The class will teach freestyle and backstroke, underwater swim and retrieving objects from bottom of the pool. In order to pass this course children must be able to swim freestyle and backstroke independenltly for 10 yards and demostrate basic survival skills.

LEVEL 1: WATER EXPLORATION (AT LEAST 5 YEARS OLD)

(5:1 Ratio) Designed for a first time swimmer who is gaining comfort and confidence in the water. For children who cannot place thier face in the water. LEVEL 3: STROKE READINESS (AT LEAST 5 YEARS OLD)

(7:1 Ratio) The focus of level 3 is coordination of freestyle and backstroke for 15 yards with rhythmic breathing, with an introduction to treading water and elementary backstroke. In addition, safe diving practices from the side of the pool and underwater swimming will be taught. To enroll in this course children must be able to siwm freestyle and backstroke for at least 10 yards. To pass this course, children must be able to swim freestyle with rhythmic breathing and backstroke proficiently for at least 15 yards. Children must also be able to dive from side of pool safely, demonstrate an effective breastroke kick and complete basic survival skills.

LEVEL 4: STROKE DEVELOPMENT (AT LEAST 6 YEARS OLD)

(8:1 Ratio) This is the course where children really begin to look like swimmers. Building on the skills already acquired, children will learn to swim at least 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke, increase endurance, master rhythmic breathing and learn the basics of breastroke, scissor kick, and turning at the wall. In order to enroll in this course, children must be able to swim freestyle with rythmic breathing and backstroke proficiently for at least 15 yards. In order to pass this course, students must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke. Children must also demonstrate 15 yards of butterfly kick. They must be able to dive safely into the pool and complete basic survival skills.

LEVEL 5: STROKE REFINEMENT (AT LEAST 6 YEARS OLD)

(8:1 Ratio) The purpose of this course is to coordinate and refine the main strokes learned and to introduce the butterfly. In order to enroll in this course, children must be able to swim at least 25 yards for freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke. Children must also demonstrate 15 yards of butterfly kick. This class will continue to teach breastroke, sidestroke and teach effective butterfly. Introduction of diving board skills and flip turns for all strokes will be taught. In order to complete this course, students must be able to swim at least 50 yards freestyle, backstroke, breaststoke, butterfly, and elementary backstroke. They must also be able to complete the proper dives from the side of the pool and the board. Students must also be able to complete the open wall turns and competitive turns of all frour competitive strokes. If swimmers are able to complete these skills, it is recommended that they sign up for swim team through the Town of Gilbert.

AQUACISE: (12 AND UP)

Aquacise is a low-impact, fun way to stay cool and tone your muscles. This class combines interval training with cardiovascular endurance, while introducing the benefits of resistance training in the water. Students will be taught proper, safe aquatic exercises and use various resistance equipment during all workout sessions. All skill levels are welcome.

LEVEL 2: PRIMARY SKILLS (AT LEAST 5 YEARS OLD)

(7:1 Ratio) Intended for children who have mastered front and back floating. In order to enroll in this course, children must be able to float on their front and back independently for 10 seconds and kick independently for 5 yards. The class will teach freestyle and backstroke, underwater swim and retrieving objects from the bottom of the pool. In order to pass this course, children must be able to swim freestyle with rhythmic breathing and backstroke independently for 10 yards, while demonstrating basic survival skills.

Diving Classes DIVING (8:1 RATIO) 5 YRS AND UP

This class will teach approaches and basic dives from the side of the pool and the board. This class will cover the proper front and back approaches as well as the basic front and back dives. This class will learn tuck and pike formation dives, along with more advanced skills like front and back flips. Students will be able to properly demonstrate the front dive with a three step hurdle approach and back dive with T-Y-Circle I approach. After completing this course, it is recommended students sign up for a dive team through the Town of Gilbert to further strengthen diving skills. We recommend one-piece swimsuits. No refunds or credit can be given for swim lessons. Participants must be able to swim to side of pool after going off board without assistance.

Spring Lessons Lessons offered one day a week for six weeks

Gilbert Instructors are certified by American Red Cross WSI program. Swim lessons teach swimming and safety skills in a logical progression. It is important for the student to be registered in the proper level. Please use the age guidelines and the class descriptions on page 6 to help determine the appropriate level for your child. Spring Swim Team Fee: $75

Spring Season Dates: 3/30 - 5/7 (6 weeks)

This youth swim team program is designed for all ages and abilities. Your child must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted. Knowing strokes is not required but encouraged. In order to join the swim team, students must only be able to swim from one end to the other. Coaches will work with all age groups and swimmers to help them master all 4 competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breastroke, and butterfly). For swimmers who demonstrate exceptional skill and meet specific time requirements, an additional, optional practice time will be offered to provide more intensive training experience. Invitation to join this practice time will be given at coaches discretion only. LIFEGUARD TRAINING

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training provides the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Attendance at all classes is required. Pre-requisites include: Minimum age of 15 years, swim 300 yards continuously, tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs, and complete in a timed event. WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR (WSI)

Water Safety Instructor— This course will help you teach skills that may save a life and gain terrific work experience as an aquatic professional. In addition you will teach children how to swim, refine their strokes and/or teach diving safety techniques. Pre-requisites include: minimum age 16 years old, demonstrate proficiency in six strokes: front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, breaststroke, and butterfly, and tread water for 1 minute. Location: Greenfield Pool Cost $150 Program Dates (7 total classes*): Class Code Day Date Time Pool 19862 Fri 3/27 4pm-9pm Greenfield Pool Sat/Sun 3/28-3/29 9am-5pm *Additional 8 hours of teaching is required to complete class. Class times will vary depending on need & availabilty.
