A Dish of Tea with Dr Johnson Irritable, generous, depressive yet hilarious: meet Samuel Johnson – poet, essayist, compiler, of the first English dictionary. This evening of anecdotes and witty conversation, brings to life one of the most colourful figures of the eighteenth century. In a charming twohander, Ian Redford plays the eponymous Johnson while Russell Barr plays all the other characters (among them James Boswell, Joshua Reynolds and Mrs Thrale, his unrequited love.) “Ian Redford is a close to the real Dr. Johnson as one could ever hope to see on stage” - Time Out

Me, Marley and I Against a backdrop of political struggle, a military coup and armed revolution, a young Ghanaian boy sets out to conquer the world and his pubescent emotions, armed only with an overwhelming passion for Bob Marley and the wisdom of his grandmother. ‘The crab never gives birth to an eagle’ ‘No matter how hard you boil the water, it always cools down.’ This play brings to life a different time in a different culture with great friendships, courage and sacrifice. Gloriously funny and warm, this true story jolts sharply into focus with the horror of living through an African revolution.

Africa United
For Colored Girls
Africa United is a road trip through the heart of Africa. Three Rwandan children set off to Rwanda’s capital city, Kigali, to audition for the opening ceremony of the 2010 World Cup. They sneak onto a bus...the wrong bus. Instead of arriving in Rwanda’s capital Kigali, they end up in the Congo. Their travels – through Rwanda, Congo, Burundi, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa – reveal a side of Africa few people ever see. AFRICA UNITED is a story of joy, laughter, hope and generosity – the ‘ubuntu’ spirit in which the children make this incredible journey together.
Based on Ntozake Shange’s play “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf”, the original script featured only seven women known by colours performing a collection of 20 poems. In the movie, each poem, delivered by a separate named character, deals with intense issues that have a particular impact on women in a thought-provoking commentary on what it means to be a female of colour in the world.

Mythologies Why do spiders exist? Ask Arachne. Why do volcanoes exist? Ask Typhon. Who cuts the thread of life? Ask Atropos. Just don’t ask Midas about the gold! Mythologies is devised by the Pegasus 12 to 15 year old group and shaped by a professional creative team. From the monsters of ancient myth, to the gods of Mount Olympus, this production features a radical re-thinking of classical myth and some highly stylized approaches to story-telling. Some of the stories are messages of warning, full of tragedy and horror, and others are tales of amazement, with sparkles of hope shining through.

The old moon is fading. Elisha goes to find the next moon and put it safely in its place within the sky. But moons are hard to find, and like to hide. This is a magical, intimate, lyrical journey of self-discovery and imagination: inspired by a story sung to a little girl at bedtime, told through a solo performance of visual/dance theatre with music, animation and a huge, silk bedspread.
