The Gift of Girl Scout Camp

Why Girls Love It...

Challenge by choice

75% of parents reported their camper challenged herself to try something new at Girl Scout Camp.

Growing into themselves

“When I was younger, I was very shy. The camp counselors, Program Aides (PAs), and Counselors in Training (CITs) were very kind and welcoming. They gave me a chance to grow and step out of my comfort zone and helped me be open-minded and courageous.” —Malaya, 9th grade

Building Girl Scout sisterhood through leadership

“[My daughter] loved being in a leadership role and looked forward to every day of camp. She often expressed that she felt loved by the campers and staff, and she loved them. She said they felt like sisters to her. She realized how much of a positive impact she had on others, which was great for her self esteem.” —Parent of 2021 camper

The Gift of Girl Scout Camp Why Parents Love It...

Girl Scout Values

Girl Scout Values is the #1 reason parents choose GSGLA camps, after physical location. Girl Scouting builds girls of “courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.” With these values, the organization creates a supportive system where every individual is part of the overall community.

“My daughter said every day how much she loves Girl Scout camp. I love her going there because it’s a perfect summer experience, in my opinion--lots of outdoor activity, good friends, positive role models and values, learning opportunities, and so much fun.” —Parent of 2021 camper

Safety

During summer 2021, 98.7% of parents agreed that Girl Scout camp was a safe space for their camper.

Staff that bring care and intention to all programs

“Amazing! … Staff does a great job of making [my daughter] feel welcome and comfortable trying new things. They do an amazing job helping my daughter find [her] confidence and build on it. Truly grateful for them.” —Parent of 2021 camper
