Aim High with Girl Scouts’ Highest Awards Every Girl Scout goes above and beyond to make a difference in her community and greater world. The Girl Scout Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards are the highest honors a Girl Scout can earn. Through them, girls impact their communities, challenge themselves, support issues they care about, and gain an edge on their future.
Bronze Award Lulu, Erin, Naomi, and Ariana from Troop 30746 in Hoover, AL earned the Bronze Award. They worked with the City of Hoover to increase community awareness about the benefits of trees in their community. Also, they planted trees at Aldridge Gardens and the Bluff Park Community Center. The girls will continue to care for the trees this year and next year. They want to encourage more people to get involved and plant new trees.
Silver Award Abigail, Jessie, and Emma from Troop 20136 in Eastaboga, AL earned the Silver Award. They worked with Tigers for Tomorrow to improve the animal habitat for goats living on the preserve. The girls collected, decorated, and delivered recycled tires to the sanctuary to build a tire mountain for the goat enclosure. Afterwards, they spent a day working to get the tire mountain built on site. The recycled tire mountain will provide a place for the goats at the sanctuary to climb and exercise while visitors learn more about the animals.
Gold Award Julia from Troop 10926 in Madison, AL earned her Gold Award by working to reduce the amount of food waste sent to landfills. To accomplish her goal, Julia created an educational composting program for local schools to raise awareness on reducing waste. She built multiple composting bins and taught students about different ways to compost. By working with Bob Jones High School, she created a plan to continue using the materials she created to educate future students. The soil created will continue to be used in gardening projects on campus. Do you want to learn more and join her team to reduce food waste? Then check out her website for more information about how you can start composting at home! unmakeyourmark.wixsite.com

For over a century, Girl Scouts have proudly worn distinctive, grade-specific uniforms that symbolize everything a girl can achieve through Girl Scouts. Girls from each grade level have one official uniform item (a sash, vest, or tunic) to display badges, pins, insignia, and awards. This item is required when girls participate in ceremonies or officially represent Girl Scouts. Financial Assistance for uniforms is available.
How to Wear It Wondering where to add a new badge or pin? We have you covered! Each grade level has a corresponding illustration to guide you on where to place insignia, badges, and awards on your sash, vest, or tunic. Look to these diagrams when you’re ready to showcase your Girl Scout pride in style. Psst—don’t forget, fun patches go on the back, while awards and badges go on the front. girlscoutshop.com/catalogs
