Summer Activities for Girls Ready for an unforgettable summer? We are. Every summer we create unique opportunities just for girls and we want you to join in the fun. This summer we have planned trips, overnight camps, swimming and tennis lessons, as well as a very special opportunity for families interested in enjoying a Staycation close to home. Our Summer activities are designed for girls from 6-17. Check out our complete session descriptions, times, and affordable options at www.gsle.org/summer/program.asp

Want a real adventure for older girls? Take a trip with us. This summer we are hitting the road on three separate trips. Our awesome adventures include whitewater rafting in Tennessee, a train trip to Mississippi, and diamond hunting in Arkansas. Girls will set the itinerary and finalize the plans before we head out. Check the website for trip dates and destinations.

SUMMER FUN

Overnight Camp

PICK a camp session to fit you and your schedule! Each week we offer multiple sessions with a different focus. Choose the session that fits your personality best. Sessions run from 3 to 10 days, with prices ranging from $125 to $325.

Staycation

EXPLORE our camps and the Northshore with your family for 3, 5, or 7 days. You’ll enjoy swimming, canoeing, fishing, archery, easy to moderate hiking trails, fitness stations, outdoor games and stargazing, with a trained staff onsite each day to help facilitate activities. Staycations are a great alternative to an expensive family vacation.

What makes our activities special? Girl Scouts is celebrating 100 years as the leading girl organization, so we know what interests girls. We know that every girl wants options and interests that are unique to her. We provide a positive, all-girl environment, in which our girls are valued for who they are, treated fairly, encouraged to develop leadership skills, and to learn the importance of women in society.

Special Events

KICK-OFF your summer by learning tennis or taking swimming lessons! We have partnered with the YMCA of the Capital Area in Baton Rouge and the United States Tennis Association in five parishes to offer girls an affordable introduction to both of these awesome sports.

Giddy up and go. Campers will spend a week horseback riding, caring for horses and learning about all things horseback. We specialize in Western riding with a focus on skill development. Each week we offer horse sessions for 4th-6th graders and 7th-9th graders. We are proud to provide one of the best horse camps in Louisiana.

Ultimate Camp Sessions

Do you want to do it all? Then come to an Ultimate Camp Session, where you and your fellow campers will build your session for the week. Yes, you will get to pick the things you want to do. From Archery to Zip-lining, our camps offer a variety of fun activities, so these sessions are bound to be fun-filled camping experiences. Keep in mind only those attending sessions in the Equestrian program will ride horses.

Camp Staff

Meals

We hire mature, personable young adults as camp counselors. Each staff member is thoroughly screened, must pass a background check and complete an intensive training prior to camp. We maintain appropriate adult to child ratios and our counselors are selected for their nurturing spirit and dedication to children.

At our camps, meal time is as fun and enjoyable as other activities. All meals are served family style with our camp staff sharing meal times with the campers. We serve a kid-friendly, dietician approved menu. Our experienced kitchen staff can accommodate special dietary concerns.

Girl Scout overnight camp programs are accredited by the American Camp Association which means they each undergo a thorough review process by outside camping professionals every three years, achieving the highest standard in the areas of personnel, program, site administration, and health care.

Health

The health and well-being of our campers are our number one priority. In addition to a trained medical professional on site, each staff member is trained in CPR and First Aid.

Our Camps Camp Marydale Camp Whispering Pines This beautiful, pine forested camp near Independence, offers many program options including a high ropes challenge course and rock climbing wall, a junior Olympic pool, hiking trails, and a stocked 23-acre lake for canoeing, fishing and rowboating.
