I PRONTI 2025 collection includes several items made with the best types of cotton in the world: Giza 87 from Egypt, Supima from California, and West Indian Sea Island from the Caribbean. They are all characterized by an extremely fine and extra-long-staple fiber, for exceptionally soft, shiny, and pleasantness in contact with the skin. These cotton fabrics are ideal for enveloping bed linens offering unparalleled well-being.
THE GIFT OF THE NILE Egypt has always been the producer of one of the best cotton qualities in the world thanks to particular climatic conditions and the fertile lands along the Nile. Not all cottons from Egypt are classified as Extra-Long Staple because this applies only to varieties with fiber length above 33mm. Among the most renowned qualities of extra-long staple Egyptian cotton is GIZA 87, with an average fiber length between 35 and 36mm.
In addition to being extremely long, Giza 87 cotton fibers are very uniform and incredibly fine yet resistant. With a brightness degree of 76.6%, it is the best among all extra-long-staple cotton varieties. The resulting type of yarn has a smaller diameter, measured by thread count but it is simultaneously stronger than yarns produced with other varieties of cotton, thanks to its high resistance. Using a finer yarn means that more threads can be used per given area of fabric. The number of threads per square inch is the so-called thread count and a fabric with a high thread count is soft, compact, shiny, and silky. Yarns made of Giza 87 cotton fibers can be used in fabrics for apparel, mainly for shirts, but also for refined household linens. The qualities of fibers and yarns, enhanced by weaving and ennobling processes developed by MARTINELLI GINETTO, result in exceptional properties and performance that will last over time and improve with each use.
CONTAMINATION-FREE COTTON Grown entirely in the USA, mainly in California, SUPIMA cotton is known for its soft, strong, bright white, and contamination-free fibers, and is certified by the SUPIMAÂŽ consortium. The SUPIMAÂŽ brand applies to a very specific species of cotton seed used, which guarantees its technical characteristics, cultivation with cutting-edge technologies, and special attention to ethical and sustainable processes. Thanks to mechanical harvesting, SUPIMA cotton fibers are contamination-free, meaning that they did not come into contact with foreign particles so-called pollutants - along the production chain. Since they are free from pollutants and extremely fine, SUPIMA cotton fibers absorb dyes deep in their structures, resulting in a product that has a more uniform and regular appearance, and retains its color after repeated washing better than regular types of cotton.
In this cotton species, fibers are 35% longer on average than in other cotton fibers commonly cultivated in the world; 100% of SUPIMAÂŽ cotton is classified as Extra-Long Staple. Fiber length translates into yarns with a more uniform surface that resists pilling (the formation of lint). More robust than other qualities, these cotton fibers are 45% more resistant than traditional cotton and are therefore extremely resilient and resistant to wear and tear, suitable for household products that maintain their shape over time. Fiber length, resistance, and the absence of pollutants shine through thanks to weaving and finishing techniques perfected by R&D, resulting in MARTINELLI GINETTO SUPIMAÂŽ certified fabrics. Very soft, yet resistant and durable.
LUXURIOUS COTTON GROWN IN THE CARIBBEAN Grown in the Caribbean islands of the British West Indies - mostly Barbados, Antigua, and Jamaica West Indian Sea Island is among the finest varieties of cotton in the world. The unique climate in these areas - abundant rainfall and constant high temperatures with prolonged sun exposure over the year - provides for all the water needed for irrigation so that crops can thrive. For centuries, cotton crops in the West Indies islands have helped local farmers develop know-how which has been handed down from generation to generation, still mostly based on manual processes and with limited use of chemicals.
This combination of unique circumstances has spurred the cultivation of cotton with exceptional qualities: extra-long-staple up to 36/37mm and an incredible fineness between 3.1 and 3.4 micronaire, a high degree of resistance** of 40gr/ tex, a uniformity index of 86% and a shininess measured at 73% reflectance***. These qualities create fabrics that are silky to the touch, consistent and full-bodied, with an ability to revive themselves and to improve with each wash. To ensure a fiber of exceptional quality, every kilogram of cotton is inspected for compliance with stringent quality standards. Only a small quantity passes this demanding inspection and can boast the title West Indian Sea Island Cotton.
*Micronaire: an index that measures the air permeability of compressed cotton fibers used as an indication of fiber fineness and maturity. **Resistance: it represents a fiber’s or yarn’s tensile strength. ***Reflectance: the ability of a material to reflect the radiant light it receives, indicated as the portion of the light that is reflected by the material.
